Ford Oaks has a comprehensive landscape strategy and drainage plan, that will deliver various ecological benefits to the site, including a net gain in biodiversity of 121%.

Full details of the development can be found on the project website here: https://fordoakssolarnature.co.uk/

The planet is facing a climate and ecological crisis. We must transition away from fossil fuels, and we must reverse the destruction of our natural environment.

Solar facilities like the one we are proposing at Ford Oaks can help tackle both crises. Whilst providing clean energy for thousands of homes, they can also foster wildlife and pollinators, restoring rural habitats by allowing nature to flourish beneath and around the raised solar panels.

Our proposals include:
- Tree and hedgerow planting
- Grassland habitats with species-rich seed mixes
- Devon traditional meadows
- A mosaic of wetland habitats
- Beetle and butterfly banks

The UK aims to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, an ambitious target that will be dependent on the development of low carbon energy generation.

Helping to meet this goal, our proposals for Ford Oaks aim to supply 18,500 homes in East Devon with renewable solar energy.

The Ford Oaks team attended the Aylesbeare village hall yesterday afternoon and gave a short presentation prior to the monthly Parish Council meeting.
We were pleased to meet with members of the local community and councillors to present our plans for a solar and green infrastructure facility that could power up to 18,500 homes in East Devon, whilst delivering major biodiversity improvements.
We had many productive discussions with local residents and look forward to further presenting our proposals at our public exhibition on the 11th of June, at Aylesbeare Village Hall, between 10am and 3pm.

Ford Oaks will utilise 45 hectares of land to enhance species-rich grassland, woodland and hedgerow habitats. The Net Biodiversity Gain is projected to be 121%.

Hedgerow boundaries, oak and ash trees are all major natural assets to ensure biodiversity and the prevention of habitat loss in the UK.
