Mental health problems can start in early years, even if they don’t present any symptoms. The environment children grow up in and their ability to handle the pressures and stresses of growing up all play an important part in preventing problems developing as they grow up.

Starting on 6th June, this qualification is designed for those who wish to understand mental health in young children in the early years (from birth to 5 years old).

Starting on the 8th June, this qualification will provide you with knowledge of a range of learning difficulties that children may face, how they are diagnosed and how children can be better supported in their learning and development.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events occurring before age 18. This includes all types of abuse and neglect as well as parental mental illness, substance use, divorce, incarceration, and domestic violence.

Starting on the 6th June the qualification will help you to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences and will equip you with basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing adverse childhood experiences in practice.
