I’m back on keto and last night I pulled out my old faithful Clever Guts Diet book by to make his cauliflower rice recipe 😢

I feel so very sad for him and his family, particularly after all the worry of his disappearance. What a strange and sudden way to go and what a loss to the health community.

I loved how he brought to the masses and made positive lifestyle changes realistic and within reach to so many. I don’t know if he really knew how many people’s lives were positively affected by his decades of wellness journalism (is that a thing??) but I’m sure his family will now.

RIP Michael Mosley ❤️

What’s a girl to do after dinner than sit in front of her red light for 10 minutes?! It’s my new toy from and I had to really sit and work out exactly when I was actually going to use it before committing to buying. You’ve got to hack these habits if you want them to stick - so far so good with this one 👍🏻

The benefits of red light have been explored for over 100 years, ever since Niels Robert Finsen won a Nobel Prize for his successful treatment of smallpox and lupus. There are lots of great research studies on red light for skin, eyes, hair, joints, sleep, mood and hypothyroidism.

And if nothing else, it’s nice to have an excuse to sit down for 10 minutes a day! 😆

It’s so weird that every time I go to my podcast library, the exact episode I need to listen to always randomly pops up. Every. Single. Time. These two were my “driving to Cornwall” and “driving from Cornwall” distractions and both were fantastically inspiring. The highs and lows of my fasting experience. And what I forgot to mention in the video was how much more time I had! And 39 hours seemed the logical end to my fast but I couldn’t end on an odd number. Anyone else weird like me?! 🤣

Whilst at the Albert docks in the pouring rain yesterday, a lady approached me and asked if I wanted to jump in a box and dance around like a loon to improve my mental wellbeing. Err hello, has she met me?!?! “Dance like nobody’s watching” is my actual motto! And actually true in this instance cos you can see out but they can’t see in. Highly recommend it. Do whatever you need to do to put a smile on your face. For me, it’s always music 🤩

Amazing session this evening, courtesy of one of life’s nicest humans . Highly recommend his many services if you’re in the area.

And if making a bit more time for self-care isn’t on your 2024 resolutions list, it bloomin well should be. Massage, reiki, getting your nails done, sitting quietly with your feet up, parked up with your eyes closed….it all counts! And you’re worth that time.

Thanks so much to the Poynton for being such a friendly and receptive host to my “Live well in 2024” talk last week. Despite the sub-zero temperature, it was a great turn out and amazing to hear from so many that they would take away and think about the small but powerful health hacks we discussed.

And once again I got on my “food as medicine” bandwagon and demonstrated how to make kefir, the gut-boosting superfood I should really have shares in!

If you or anyone you know would like to live well in 2024, consider investing in a health coach! It might be the soundest investment you make this year 😉

Clients often ask me what a good gluten free bread alternative is and I can safely say I’ve tried them all! The best supermarket brand I’ve found is but for me, the best overall is from the online store My GF Bakery. It’s not cheap but you can take advantage of 20% if you sign up to their mailing list.

10 years ago, I was driving home from work….and crying. I was in so much pain with my neck, could hardly move and I was off on my honeymoon the next day.

I saw a sign for a chiropractic clinic, turned the car round and burst through their door, begging to be seen. Xandra emerged from her room, took me straight in and the rest, as they say, is history.

The course of my life literally changed for ever thanks to her and her sister Jess. My health, my family, my home, my career have all been impacted from that moment and I couldn’t be more grateful to those ladies. So weird to think what might have been (or not) if I hadn’t stopped that day.

What has been your life-changing moment? Take the time to celebrate it, it’s made you who you are today 🥳

Same dress, 6 years on and 5 stones lighter! I hate waste and I love that dress so really pleased a local seamstress was able to work her magic!

I also love a good benchmark. Whether it’s rating a symptom out of 10, taking photos of your changing body shape or monitoring your weight on the scales, it’s all important data and information is power. We use it to keep you feeling motivated, look at anything that needs tweaking and most importantly, to celebrate your successes. Cheers! 🥂

Really enjoyed this fascinating podcast and would strongly recommend a listen - it’s a 90 minute love letter to functional medicine! And basically everything that has been practising for many years. Here I am at the gym! Just me and a steady stream of 14 year old lads on their phones.

Movement is medicine, muscle is medicine. And I ain’t got much! So I’m trying, I’m focused, I’m building up slowly, I’m measuring my progress and I’m keeping going.

And it’s working! I’m finding time in my busy diary. I’m making it a priority. Low base but I’ve already doubled most of the weights or reps that I started with.

Once you’re motivated, design the habit. Keep track of your progress, feel the satisfaction and you’re more likely to keep it up.

Just do it ✔️

A big hello to all my new followers and thought I’d take this opportunity to let you know what I’m all about. I found a photo with me wearing make up so it seems only right to use it….

You will mostly find me wandering the streets shouting FOOD IS MEDICINE at anyone who’ll listen! I’ve even had half my daughter’s school chanting it during assembly! 🤣

I’m passionate about taking back control of your well-being and using lifestyle medicine to feel happier and healthier. I know cos I’ve done it. And I’m still doing it. Always a work in progress but so far, I’m 60 pounds lighter, off all prescription drugs and moving more than I ever have before. Even with dodgy joints and knees of doom as they’re affectionately known! I tried roller skating, big mistake, we move on….

I work with the incredible Dr Jess Braid The Natural Doctor - Dr Jess Braid in her functional medicine practice and with her amazing sister Xandra The Back Clinic - Poynton Chiropractic, I have been blessed to have them both in my life as trusted mentors and dear friends. They’ve helped thousands of patients over the years, including me. There’s not much I haven’t done in the pursuit of my health - I know how easy it can be, I know how hard it can be and I know the value of having someone by my side on the journey.

Eating better, sleeping well, moving easier and relaxing more, these are things we can all dive into for quick wins. You may know this but how do you actually make those changes? You need a coach in your corner. Pick me, I’d be honoured! 🙋🏻‍♀️🤩

Honoured to be invited to give a health and wellness talk as part of International Women’s Day celebrations! I was delighted to discover that the IWD health mission is “To assist women to be in a position of power to make informed decisions about their health”. Sounds very familiar…..!

The demonstration got a little messy but it was all good! And most people were pleasantly surprised by the taste and eager to know more. I wish I had flippin shares in kefir grains….🤔🤣

When working on my health, I like to imagine a DJ mixing desk. My head is full of weird analogies! 🤪

Rather than imagining spinning plates that can feel overwhelming and negative, think about pushing up the sliders!

You try a new vegetable or cook a new meal. Push up that FOOD slider. Go for a walk or book in that gym induction, get that MOVEMENT slider cranked up. Put down the phone and read a chapter of that book you’ve been meaning to start, that’s the SLEEP and the SELF-CARE sliders pushed right up. Get in touch with that friend you’ve not spoken to in ages, well that’s definitely a bit more self-care on the desk.

Every decision we make, every new hack that we try, every new habit we establish…we’re investing in our health and happiness. Well done you. Get those headphones on, dance to that choon and feel good about yourself, you deserve it.
