Itโs really important to know your own body, know what your normal for you. But, to start with letโs discuss whatโs what:โฃ
๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ฆฑโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐๐น๐๐ฎ - the outside of your organs made up of the l***a majora and the l***a minora, the urethra, cl****is and perineum. Cancer can and does affect the ๐ฉ๐๐น๐๐ฎ. It can cause discolouration, raised areas, awful burning, stinging and itching. โฃ
๐ฉ๐พโ๐ฆฑโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ - the bit of your body also called the birth canal. This is the part of your body that connects the v***a to the cervix. Itโs super clever an maintains its own PH balance and produces discharge. ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ could cause some pain, irregular bleeding and bleeding after s*x. โฃ
๐ฉ๐ฟโ๐ฆฑโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐
- the part of your body that contracts and dilates to allow you to have babies. Cervical cancer can often be silent, but it can also cause irregular bleeding, bleeding after s*x, pain, constipation, kidney pain, back pain, bloody discharge or foul smelling discharge. โฃ
๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ฆฑโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐จ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ - carries babies and sheds itโs lining causing us to have periods. Look out for irregular bleeds, pain in the back, pelvis and legs too as well as any nasty bleeding in between periods, heavier periods than usual (for a sustained period) and things. Uterine Cancer can also be related to the BRCA gene. โฃ
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฆฑโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ง๐๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ - these tubes carry the egg released from ovaries down to the Uterus. Ovarian cancer can develop here and then move to the ovaries, but lately Iโm seeing more and more cases of dedicated Fallopian tube cancer diagnosed, itโs symptoms a lot like ovarian cancer. โฃ
๐ฉ๐ผโฃ
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ - Ovaries are where all of our eggs are stored. Ovarian cancer is often hormonally aggravated and can also be caused by the BRCA gene ๐งฌ. Look out for bloating and swelling in the lower abdominal region, and a lot of โIBSโ type symptoms occurring too, pain in the lower back and pelvis & irregular periods โฃ
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฆฑ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ฆฑ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ฆฑ๐ฉ๐พโ๐ฆฑ๐ฉ๐ฟโ๐ฆฑโฃ
The BRCA1 gene is most notably associated with Breast Cancer ๐but it does have an affect on certain Gynae cancers too.
I sincerely recommend following on Insta- an amazing gynaecologist who also wrote the brilliant Gynae Geek book which contains everything you need to know about your body.
