This week accountancy firm Blinkhorns invited our nurses from TOBE-Heartsafe to train 65 members of staff in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Led by TOBE nurses Clare Addison RGN and Lucia Amato RGN, the training gives the learner the skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence in CPR and the safe use of an AED, enabling them to provide effective emergency lifesaving first aid.

It’s an integral part of our mission to provide CPR & AED training as well as Cardiac Screening and to offer these life-saving services beyond just the few who can afford to pay for them, with a donation towards our community programmes.

Lucia Amato commented: “Survival rates can be as high as 60-70% in young people when resuscitation is started by bystanders but every minute that passes without chest compressions and defibrillation reduces their chance of survival by up to 10%. This training gives the participants the confidence and the techniques of CPR. It can be used to keep someone alive until the emergency medical services can get to the scene.”

Janice Ashby at Blinkhorns confirmed: “The training is very comprehensive and informative and there has been a lot of positive response from staff which means they will most certainly retain the information.”

If you have a company, school or sports club that you would like the TOBE team to work with, call or email us and we can tailor a programme to your organisation.

A great training session in BLS with the ResMed team! And thank you so much for the lovely feedback Angie Brennan.

"The training was very interactive and engaging and was extremely valuable and useful to my staff members. It made it easy for opinions and experiences to be shared among the participants. Thanks for the wonderful training session".

At last, and lets hope as many of them as possible are public access defibrillators too! The Department for Education (DfE) is providing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs or ‘defibrillators’) to state-funded schools in England where existing provision is not in place. By the end of the 2023 academic year, the DfE expect all schools in England to have access to a defibrillator.

Each year 356,000 people die in the UK from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Of the people who suffer an out of hospital cardiac arrest only 10% will survive. Making more people confident in CPR and the use of an AED will help save lives. Let's start the New Year learning these life saving skills. We can train up to 30 people at a time and come to your place of work, school or sports club.

We had a great afternoon training the team at Whitespace in Basic Life Support. Every training session works towards increasing the rate of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an AED.
A public access defibrillator is reported as being used in less than 1 in 10 Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests. Let's help make a difference!

We are proud to offer a comprehensive, yet enjoyable, hands-on BLS and AED training course, based on the guidelines of The Resuscitation Council (UK).
We come to your workplace, school or sports club and can train groups of up to 30 people at a time. Training will include the assessment of an unconscious person, Basic Life Support and the use of an AED. We believe that everyone should have the training to help save someone's life. Every second matters and this course will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively.

By training your employees in Basic Life Support and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), you will be providing essential life skills and giving your colleagues the confidence to save a life. The training is fun, and offers a team building session that teaches skills that will stay with your team.

Red Kite recognises the importance of having a defibrillator nearby when there is an emergency. We offer a Risk Assessment designed to help identify how many defibrillators are required, where they should be placed, who is at the highest risk and can train staff to assist should a defibrillator need to be used.
With the chances of survival increasing ten fold when an AED is used on a sudden cardiac arrest victim, it is really important to consider getting one.

Training your staff in Basic Life Support equips them with the skills they need to save a life. These skills could make all the difference if they witness someone having a cardiac arrest or start choking at work, at home or in public. Red Kite can train up to 40 members of staff in a day and carry out a defibrillator risk assessment for your work place.

In the UK there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) a year where emergency medical services attempt to resuscitate the victim. However, the survival rate is low – just 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an OHCA.
Early CPR and defbrillation can double the chances of surviving an OHCA.
The more people that are trained to perform Basic Life Support and are confident in using a defibrillator the better. Being able to respond whilst waiting for the emergency services can help save lives!

16/09/2022

In 2020, there were 314 recorded deaths from choking in the UK (The Office of National Statistics) but it is sometimes recorded as only a contributing factor, so the number is believed to be much higher. We recommend that all restaurant workers are trained to respond to a person choking, Basic Life Support and the use of an AED. Training saves lives!

Red Kite Basic Life Support Training is suitable for all ages. Educating and empowering young people is one of the most important lessons when it comes to improving survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

13/09/2022

Our course is designed by Clare Addison and Lucia Amato, who are both qualified nurses. They believe that face to face training of Basic Life Support and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) is more effective than online training.

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. A person's chance of survival falls by about 14% for each minute that passes without defibrillation.

Every second matters and this course will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively.
