A place where you can access a vet whose sole expertise is cats. I want to empower you with the information you need to take control of your cat's health.

I have been a vet working in cat only clinics in the UK and Ireland for almost 10 years. Vet appointments are short, and vets are more busy than ever with a huge number of new pets and a shortage of vets. It is so difficult as pet owners to get all of the information you need during the appointment, and the internet is an overwhelming place to look for information about your cat's condition. To he

Obesity is an epidemic among our cats. I'm not here to fat shame any cat, and I love a chonky cuddle too, but being overweight contributes to diabetes, arthritis and poorer quality of life for our kitties. If you want to get weight off your cat you can follow this supremely simple piece of advice!

Want to learn the top 5 reasons owners pay to see a vet when they do not need to? Want to discuss the concerns you have about your cat with a cat expert live and for free?๐Ÿ‘‡

Comment on the post to receive a link to the free training, or use the link below.

After thousands of consults with cats and their owners, Iโ€™ve noticed a major trend.

Many cat owners bring their cats to the vet for conditions that do not need treatment or could be prevented at home with a simple tweak in diet or lifestyle.

Instead, cat owners are spending money on vet visits, when they do not need to.

They are also worrying about symptoms that they do not need to worry about.

And when they do go to the vet, they often do not get a clear explanation on how these conditions could be prevented, or even what they are.

How many times has your cat had a runny eye? Do you know there is a well known virus that is probably causing it, and you do not need a vet visit each time?

The true problem is that there is not enough time during an average vet consult to discuss prevention of common cat symptoms. Most vet consults are 10-15 minutes long - just enough time to treat your cat without giving you the vital information you need to not have to come back with the same symptoms in the near future.

My goal is to give cat owners the knowledge they need to not have to visit the vet unnecessarily and not stress about symptoms they do not need to worry about.

In my free training I will tell you about the top 5 reasons cat owners visit the vet when they do not need to. Not only will this knowledge save you stress, money and time, it will also save your cat from preventable illness and the stress of vet visits.

This training is perfect for you if you
๐Ÿ‘‰ Are a cat owner who wants to increase their knowledge about the illnesses cats get and how to prevent them
๐Ÿ‘‰ Are a cat owner who wants to save money and time
๐Ÿ‘‰ Are a cat owner who wants to only bring your cat to the vet when it is necessary

I will also do live "repairs" on the call - we will discuss your specific concerns about your cat and I will help you resolve your concerns.

Comment "PREVENTION" if you want to join the live training ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ˜ป. You can also use this link to register https://firstclasscatclub.mykajabi.com/registration-page

The Benefits of Local Anesthetic Blocks for Cats 16/09/2023

Does your cat need a dental? If not now, they most likely will need one in the future. This little tip will help make the anesthetic safer for your cat, and allow them to be more comfy afterwards.

Local blocks are when we inject local anesthetic to block a specific nerve supplying a tooth, so that the cat cannot feel that tooth being extracted. They are AMAZING and allow cats to be more comfortable after extractions. They also make extractions safer because it means we can extract teeth using much lower doses of anesthetic compared to without the local block.

If you would like to learn more about local blocks you can check out this week's blog post!

The Benefits of Local Anesthetic Blocks for Cats At the veterinary clinic, ensuring the well-being and comfort of our feline patients during and after anesthesia should be a top priority. One valuable tool in achieving this goal is the use of local anesthetic blocks. Unfortunately, most vet practices have not yet embraced local anesthesia, we will...

Why your young cat is unlikely to have a UTI... 17/02/2023

In this week's blog post I cover why urinary tract infections (UTIs) are uncommon in young cats. It is incredibly common for owners of young cats to bring their cat to the vet for a "UTI" when in fact their cat has a preventable illness that you can do much at home to help prevent, and avoid a vet visit.

Check it out and share with your friends now!

Why your young cat is unlikely to have a UTI... As a cat owner, you may be familiar with urinary tract infections (UTIs) and its associated discomfort and inconvenience for both you and your feline companion. A"UTI" is a common reason cat owners book appointments with their vet, and a common reason they seek help online. But young cats rarely, if...

Of course this makes purrfect sense! If you are not playing with your cat on a daily basis please start! It is fun, it helps you bond with your cat and it results in an improved quality of life for your cat. It's just a small amount of time out of your day, but it means so much to your kitty! Make play time a habit! ๐Ÿ˜Šโค๐Ÿˆ

A recent study at the University of Adelaide confirms what most cat parents already know: regular playtime with your cat improves their quality of life! The study also indicated that some undesirable behaviors might result from insufficient playtime. The study was based on surveying cat owners from all over the world.

Not sure when the right time to neuter your kitten is?

Neutering at 4 months is recommended by Cats Protection, International Society of Feline Medicine and all of the major UK cat charities. It is backed by research that tells us it has all the advantages we want, without any of the disadvantages people worry about.

Watch the video I made with Feline Medicine Specialist Martha Cannon for more information! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

๐Ÿˆ Pre-pubertal neutering at around four months of age can have a significant effect on reducing accidental litters and controlling unowned cat populations ๐Ÿˆ

Recent evidence has shown no difference between the physical and behavioural development of cats neutered at four months of age compared to those at the more traditional age of six months and above, and improved anaesthetic protocols have now been developed to reduce the risk of complications like hypoglycaemia ๐Ÿฉธand hypothermia ๐ŸŒก

Watch the video of Martha and Eleanor from the Oxford Cat Clinic discussing the benefits of neutering at four months of age โžก๏ธ https://youtu.be/eFHTRCqlMpo

Discussing and booking neutering at the time of a kittenโ€™s primary vaccination can help educate caregivers on the benefits of early neutering and ensures you are working as a clinic to positively affect and manage the cat population ๐Ÿงฉ๐Ÿ‘‡

If you are a UK clinic and would like to make the change to four-month neutering, the Cat-Kind website has a wealth of resources to support you โžก๏ธ https://cat-kind.org.uk/

The kitty "trout pout" is a common reason that I see cats in the clinic, they have a swollen lip because of a flea allergy or an allergy to their plastic or metal food or water bowls.

If your cat is otherwise well, you can resolve this at home by treating your cat for fleas with a reliable flea treatment or swap their bowls for ceramic or glass alternatives.

If your cat is unwell, always consult your vet.
