Harry the Tortoise (is on his way)' is one of the few books written in the first tortoise narrative.Through the mind of a family pet; a 17 year old red-footed tortoise, children of 8+ years old are taken on a journey. This is a journey that explores the themes of friendship, the environment, trust, nature, honesty, farming methods and being yourself. Harry's simple outlook on life shines a light o

n the value and depth of true friendship:"Friendship is important to Dimmy and I. We come from different parts of the world, but our love of strawberries brings us together. It’s great to share a passion with your friend, isn’t it? I first met Dimmy over a strawberry."Other characters such as Cecelia the Crow and Lorna Ladybird illuminate Harry's journey to find the world's biggest strawberry. However, it is the close friendship with Dimmy the Donkey that draws heavily on the theme of trust, despite physical and other differences. They use their differences to help each other out.There is an innocence to Harry that comes out in the trusting relationship built up with Dimmy. Another side to friendship comes out through dependence. This is found in Harry's relationship with his owner Sophia; a young child. Mischievousness distracts Harry from his journey to the giant strawberry but this simply adds to the entertainment of the story. There is a song, with full lyrics in chapter 6 that accompanies Harry's journey towards the strawberries. It is a song that stands alone without music, so the reader can join in and sing Harry on his way. Friendly graphics aid the accessible nature of this, at times educational, but always warm, welcoming and friendly tale.The story is simple to follow, whilst inviting thought on a range of topics. 'Harry the Tortoise (is on his way)' is also written to educate children on the ways of tortoises, in particular; red-footed tortoises. The true story of Manuela, also a red-footed tortoise, is told from Harry's understanding and helps with this aim. The user-friendly layout of the story, makes this a perfect introduction to chapter books for children aged 8 years and older.

The times are changing for the inhabitants of the world's largest island of Greenland.

Percy is an eleven year old polar bear; who is noticing that the world for him, is becoming different. Readers go on a journey with Percy to search for food and join the battle to stay alive in this harsh, but enjoyable world for a polar bear. Percy tries hard to find food and then love, as the reader becomes invested in Percy's plight to win the heart of Kâlîna; a female polar bear.

Percy Polar Bear gives you his perspective on the changing nature of the habitat in which the Polar Bears of Greenland live. Go with Percy, as 'Anniita the Arctic Fox' tags along; looking to pick off the scraps of food that Percy may leave behind. The search for food, as Percy openly tells you, becomes more and more difficult with each passing year. The world is changing and Percy is trying to make sense of it. The story introduces you to the world's largest island of Greenland. Through Percy's point of view you get to marvel at this piece of the world, whilst reflecting upon the changes to the climate that are affecting life in this marvellous place.

When Anniita the Arctic Fox follows behind Percy in his search for food, it allows the introduction of the biological concept of commensalism - where one species obtains food or other benefits from the other without either harming or benefiting the latter. This helps to achieve a balance between an engaging story; centered around a search for food and recognizing and adapting to change, whilst incorporating true facts about the habitat and the creatures that live there.

Join Percy on the journey to food and to discovery; learning how to embrace and adapt to the changing world. There is an unavoidable distraction for Percy on the road to survival and understanding the changing world. Kâlîna is the most radiant and sweet smelling polar bear that he has even come across. Percy also tries to rise to the challenge of winning Kâlîna's, but he must compete with the young polar bear; Salik for that honour.
