Dotty Doodles

This week marked one year since the launch of Dotty Doodles 🥳
I’ve been a little quiet recently, but I thought this was an occasion that definitely needed marking.
To celebrate I’d like to share this little guy with you 🦀 Inspired by a trip home to Ramsgate last summer and created for a birthday of a friend who loved a rock pool safari on his visit 🌊

Hello, it’s been a while 👋 I’ve kind of been neglecting this page for a little while, but I hope this is a good enough excuse.
My day job took over a little bit, but I am so proud to be able to say I’ve been a part of helping to bring Chelsea Flower Show design to life. It has been such a beautiful installation to be a part of and we’re over the moon to have won a gold medal for it 🏅
Here you can see the invitation I designed for their client evening at the show, giving a little hint to their sculpture’s design 🌿 also printed on seeded paper to promote the idea of sustainability and the beauty of nature 🌸 swipe to see the sculpture that inspired my drawing ✍️ ‘Nature - A Fragile Beauty’.

I think I can be a little frustrating to go on a walk with sometimes 😅 I’m always finding inspiration for my next drawing and stopping to take photographs...mainly of flowers 🌼
This daffodil photo was taken on my way to work early last year, when I was full of optimism for the year ahead, and we all know how that turned out. But it is the photo that inspired me to get back into my artwork, which I’d been neglecting for some time, and has brought me to where I am today 🎨
We live on such a beautiful planet and it’s important to take in these moments and appreciate just how lucky we are.

Though this is a drawing I did a while back when I was first starting out with this style (you can see how much I’ve improved looking at our rose card design), I have been eagerly awaiting the day I can draw outside again 🌹
I love summer, spending as much time outside in the fresh air as possible and enjoying the long light evenings. Long may it last! 🌻

The original of this card was actually made for my brother for his birthday. When we were younger we were absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs 🦕 I think we drove our parents crazy with the amount of times we watched Disney’s Dinosaur 😂

Having a little signing session of the butterfly cards 🦋 I was quite enjoying it, music playing in the background, watching the rain falling outside. A very relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

Hello ☺️ I’m Lucy and I’m the creative behind Dotty Doodles. I think the pandemic has made everyone feel a little uncertain, I know it definitely has for me. But it’s also given me the chance to get back into my artwork and allowed me to take the time to think about what I can do with it. The outcome is Dotty Doodles. I incorporate my designs into beautiful cards and gifts for loved ones or to treat yourself to something lovely.
