Another beautifully restored shopfront in Ryde, this time at the top of the high street.
Finishing touches and signage still to be added, but we were too excited not to share, as the hoarding came off today!

These works were part funded by a shopfront improvement grant from Ryde Heritage Action Zone.

We’ll update further when the signage is complete 🤩

We were delighted to attend the opening of Lawdit Solicitors’ new office on St James Street in Newport.

They are located in the unit previously occupied by William Hill, which has been vacant for a number of years.

We worked with the owners of the building and provided a shopfront improvement grant to convert the frontage into two separate units.

Lawdit’s unit is now complete and they moved into the new offices last week. The adjoining unit will be completed within the next few weeks and we look forward to sharing photos then.

Fantastic news. We can’t wait to see the newly refurbished Minster when it reopens next year.

We are very excited to announce that Newport Minster has been removed from Historic England's At Risk Register.
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this historic moment from funders big and small, the amazing team of crafts people who have done the physical work on the building, the team of staff, contractors and volunteers in the background making it happen and the patience of the community who have put up with so much distruption while the work has been done.

You can read more here about the At Risk Register https://historicengland.org.uk/whats-new/in-your-area/south-east/heritage-at-risk-2023/

We’re delighted to be supporting this project through grant funding to bring the upper floors of this building back into use.
The HAZ Re-Purposing grant supports the conversion of empty properties, bringing them back to life for the community.
This project sees the Wadhams building converted from an empty retail unit into a unique education space, working with the historic structure and creating an inspiring location for young people to learn.
Platform One will deliver the Island’s first BA(HONS) Sustainable Fashion course from this venue, providing new opportunities and breathing life into Newport town centre.

Back to Life 29/06/2023

We're delighted that Platform One are further expanding their educational offer on the Island, breathing life into the empty iconic Wadhams building in Newport (former Top Shop). This is a fantastic example of town centre repurposing, which is so important in all our towns, as shopping habits continue to change and role of the high street changes with it.

The Newport, Isle of Wight Heritage Action Zone provided a re-purposing grant to the building owners to assist with bringing the building back into use.
