Opening day today of the Open Call art exhibition in Newhaven which I am chuffed to say my Pride of the Penguin is included in. If you’re free on the next couple of weekends, it’s worth a visit to see lots of talented artists’work , at the Marine Workshop building in Newhaven. Free to enter and there’s a lovely cafe downstairs so enjoy !

Happy pride day, and to honour the occasion I have submitted my ‘Pride of the penguin’ artwork to the Newhaven Open Call art exhibition today. So if anyone is free on any of the dates shown on the attached, please pop along to see the exhibition and support local artists, there will be approx 250 pieces showing and there’s a lovely cafe downstairs in the building so make a trip of it.

Two small triptych landscapes I’ve recently completed, titled ‘red sail homeward bound’ and ‘other side of the mountain’.
These are on Arches archival quality watercolour paper, each size 10 x 25 cm, painted using professional watercolour paints and inks.

Bit of a tree theme recently, possibly inspired by the sycamore gap loss, if people can’t leave trees alone I’ll paint them. Although the irony in me using paper to paint them which means trees need to be cut down is undeniable!

I received a photo this week from a lovely customer who’d purchased two of my designs on tote bags to be sent as gifts, and they were delighted with them.
It’s always nice to hear from people (if they are happy lol!) and just such a buzz to think that someone will be using a bag with my artwork on it, somewhere in the world!

Attended a fantastic art group today, for me it’s important to try as many art mediums as I can, as much as I love watercolour and ink, there are so many options to explore and play around with, it would be daft not to.
So today was charcoal, I’ve only attempted using it once before so it was a challenge gladly accepted, and I used the biggest paper I’ve ever arted on yet, possibly a1 size, so definitely a learning curve.

On its way to a new home today is one of my favourite pictures, baa code. I received a message asking if the original picture was for sale, together with a tote bag so both are now on their way to a new home in London.
All pictures I post on here are for sale so please feel free to message me or get in touch via this page if you are interested in owning any of my original affordable art. Thank you.

Decided to try a different medium than paper for my art, I used vista print which is quite expensive so these won’t be available for sale as I’d have to charge 17 quid just to cover the costs, but it came out really nicely so if anyone is interested in using their own designs I’d recommend it.
Just to clarify, I did draw the design on paper first, using ink and watercolour.

I received a message asking if I’m still doing art other than lino printing and the answer is yes!
Here are some of my recent ones, as you can see, there’s a real mix of styles although all are created using watercolour and ink so true to my preferred art form.
The cuckmere teapot is a sign I made up for an imagined tea room, using the river shape as the steam, two feature Newhaven lighthouse as i wanted to paint the local landmark and the boxing gloves were a requested piece.

One idea for more affordable art for your home or space is to buy an inexpensive a6 or a5 size frame and combine it with my blank cards, as this customer of mine did and who kindly sent me photos. As you can see, they look really nice framed and as my cards are currently priced at only £2 each including postage to the uk, they might be a more affordable option for many.
I only print very limited numbers of any card design, max 12 and usually 8 of each, so they are a nice way of owning limited editions of art.

Delighted to receive a photo today from the buyer of the lino print hare, already received and framed ready to display in its new home. Thank you Maria French for continuing to support my arting endeavours.

Been a while since posting, so here’s what I’ve been up to, linoprinting.

I’m limiting myself to doing one print of any design which I do to keep in line with my ethos of providing original affordable art, so if you’re interested in any of these ‘one off’prints, they are each hand printed on mulberry paper which is textured natural fibre paper , size is approx a4 and the print size is a6.

Each print is £10 which includes postage to the uk only. And remember, there’s only one print of each so when they’re gone, they’re gone.

I appear to have been bitten by the lino-cutting bug so as well as my ‘usual’ art, for the new year I’ll also be potential offering lino prints for sale if anyone is interested, all at affordable prices. Please keep an eye on this page for more info. In the meantime, here’s one example of one of my prints.
