Sue Hull Artist
Pet portrait and wildlife artist working mainly in colour pencil I am passionate about the environment and have spent much of my life working with wolves.
I can create a beautiful long lasting memory for you of your loved ones, people or pets, or I can capture the essence of your favourite wild animal. I bring this passion for the wild to my art. I use mainly colour pencil which is very labour intensive but allows me to capture a lot of detail. It is also a very robust medium which doesnβt fade or need fixatives. A memory to treasure for ever.
A final illustration for the second Hummingbird book.
"Badar leaps ten feet out of the water above the surprised shark, narrowly missing a head on collision"
My most recent portrait.
A beautiful boy, gone to rainbow bridge too soon. Beautiful inside and out his owner says. β€π
Thank you for the opportunity to create a lasting memory.
Another piece for the upcoming sequel to the "Hummingbird Wars".
Not being able to use colour for this made the water particularly challenging I have to say!
.......and another one π
Well, I am working hard on the illustrations for a sequel to the children's book about Hummingbirds. This one is quite a surprise as it involves travel in both space and time!!! Something not usually associated with Hummingbirds π
The request was for mainly black and white illustrations this time as it makes printing cheaper.
So here we go. I will leave you to try and work out what the story is πππ
Finally got my running wolves framed!
Here's a before photo and one of it over the bed so I can dream of wolves. Couldn't get rid of the refections in the glass in that one though π
I can create artwork with your animals in any landscape you like. Just message me here π
Now that it has been gifted I can post my drawing of this sweet Staffy girl. The much loved companion of a friend of a friend. Apparently she used to like to go down to the local pub and provided much entertainment. Sweet dreams little girl β€π
One of my favourite subjects......wolves!
This time running joyously through a snowy forest. Maybe Scotland one day? π
Still quite a long way to go with the background.
This will be quite a long peice which is destined to go above our bed so that I can dream of wolves π₯°πΊ
Recently finished this drawing of three beautiful, dearly loved cats. So nice to be able to do felines for a change, and feel very honoured to have been asked.
Another Christmas gift. This time a forever memory for my sister of her two grandchildren. I was supposed to do it for last Christmas but didn't get the time π Anyway, better late than never hopefully π
Now that it has been gifted, I can share this Christmas commission of "Joker", a cob with plenty of character by the sounds of things π
Coloured pencil on Fabriano cold press paper allowing me to use the textured surface to enhance his "just clipped out" appearance and hogged mane.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to draw him βΊοΈ
Bay horse.
This one was done as a practice study. I really enjoyed working on the coat colours and shine. Their summer coats are so beautiful.
A4 on drafting film
Enjoying drawing this pretty bay horse at the moment. So many colours in its sparkling summer coat π₯°
Here is the cover of the childrens book that I have been illustrating. It's due for release in October!
It's been a lot of fun.......and apparently, there will be a sequel π
ONLY 2 DAYS TO GO
The Author of the Hummingbird book decided that rather than a photo he would like me to do a portrait for the jacket of the book π
Well.....I had to put some hummingbirds in then , didn't I π
The huge flock of hummingbirds attack Dynamite the Eagle in the final chapter of the Hummingbird book. It was fun learning about the hummingbirds and all the different and stunning species some of which I have included in this piece π
Working on another piece for the Hummingbird story. There will be a lot of Hummingbirds in this one π
A series of little monochrome pencil drawings to go at the head of each chapter in the Hummingbird book. Got a few more of these to do but I'm really enjoying working in plain graphite for a change π
Extremely proud and honoured to be asked to draw this portrait of the beautiful "Maddie".
A pure bred Siberian Husky, Maddie ran thousands of miles in Arctic conditions, including four, one thousand mile races, often in lead position. A true icon of this most special of breeds. Run fast and free over rainbow bridge beautiful girl β€π
Extremely proud and honoured to have been asked to do this portrait of Maddie
Finished I think.
Work in progress for my the Hummingbird Book.
This is "Dynamite" the Bald Eagle "baddie" π
Beautiful Wolfdog Ayla. Just completed on drafting film for a friend. Happy New Year πΊβ€
The latest of my Hummingbird book illustrations π
"Electra" hiding behind the tree outside the cave, notices the pile of broken hummingbird egg shells! π±
Able to share this now as it's been framed and gifted.
A lovely couple and their gorgeous family of Siberian Huskies. Being fans of the film "8 Below" they wanted something along the lines of the movie poster. Created on A2 drafting film makes this the biggest thing I've done to date. I even had to buy a new drawing table, lol. Each of the portraits is roughly A5 in size.
The dogs truly are a family, with Mum and Dad on the right and the grown up pups ππΊ
Portrait of another beautiful Siberian Husky girl.
The third piece done for this client πβ€πΊ
Colour pencil on smooth Bristol Board
Second illustration for the hummingbird book!
Hubert swoops in to save his son trapped beneath the mountain lions paw π
A piece that I have done as an illustration for a children's story about hummingbirds by an American author. Completed in colour pencil and pan pastels. It was great fun as I love hummingbirds. More to follow π
"Chey" the wolfdog. Just finished π
