I enjoyed this one. A fresh fit British standard Euro Mortice. It's secure, covers all insurance requirements, looks great and allows keyless egress from inside in times of emergency.

2 x all keys lost car jobs today. A Ford Fiesta and a Kia Sportage. On both jobs the locks were picked and decoded and then the keys were cut and the remotes programmed in. If you are down to one key it is always worth having a spare made up so you are never in the situation where you do not have a working key for your car.

Entry gained and keys retrieved on this Audi A6 when the keys were accidentally locked in the boot. The lock was picked open, causing no damage to the lock or car. Down to 1 car key? If any of your locks look like the first photo, get your locks changed. The most common break in method we are seeing at the minute is where the lock is being snapped out of the door. It's a jammed window day today. The gearboxes in these 2 windows had failed, resulting in the windows being stuck shut. Both were unjammed without causing any damage to the frame or windows and the gearboxes were replaced with original parts. I know I've been posting a lot of vehicle content lately but I'm still keeping up with the domestic work and uPVC repairs. Today's jobs have included changing uPVC window hinges and on this job, replacing a failed and obsolete mechanism and a set of handles for my local village hall.

Unfortunately, things like this are becoming more and more common, up and down the country. Dodgy locksmith companies charging exorbitant amounts for work that a decent locksmith would charge nowhere near that amount for.

The issue usually arises when the customer is in an emergency situation like a lock out. In their panic they go online and click one of the top adverts on google. Most (not all) of these companies are the dodgy locksmith companies. They advertise low prices like £39-£49 and then hit you with higher cost when they arrive and carry out the work. Only last week an elderly lady in Witham was charged nearly £400 for a simple lock out. A few months back someone in Maldon was charged over £700 for a similar job. These are the only ones I have hard of locally but its happening all the time.

If you do need a locksmith find a decent one and stick their number in your phone now as you will always need one at the most inconvenient and stressful time and having the number now of a locksmith you can trust will save you stress and money later on.
