Slyne with Hest Parish Council
Slyne-with-Hest is a rural village north of Lancaster. The village borders Morecambe Bay with farmland to the other three sides of the parish.
Open green spaces and mature trees promote an appreciation for rural life and the natural environment. For further information and records of Parish Council meeting minutes, please see the website www.slynewithhest.org
A programme of community conversations for people to find out more about Eden Project Morecambe is due to resume, with the next taking place on Tuesday August 6 at 1.30pm.
As with previous community conversations, there will be a chance for attendees to hear directly from the Eden team and the other partners involved in the project, along with the opportunity to ask questions.
The conversations will take place on the first Tuesday of every month and be a mixture of online via Microsoft Teams and in-person, with dates in the diary right through to January 2025. The first in-person event will take place on Tuesday September 3 at Morecambe Winter Gardens from 6pm.
You can sign up to attend at Lancaster.gov.uk/eden-conversations, where youβll also find links to recordings of previous conversations.
This is unacceptable and amounts to vandalism and criminal damage. We have an idea of who the has removed and damaged the fence panels and are able to look on the cctv to confirm. However, we would rather that the culprits/their parents come forward and contact the Parish Council to apologise for this behaviour and help to fix it. This would be the best way forward. Please email the Clerk [email protected] or send a private message to this account.
As part of Our Futures Coast Project, which is looking at the resilience of local communities against coastal erosion, we're looking for creatives to jump onboard.
We are inviting local craft and art groups to create art which represents what Morecambe Bay means to them.
What do you love about the coastline? What's interesting about it? What does it make you feel? From the sunsets, to the views, wildlife and life living beside it.
Paintings, tactile pieces, videos, digital, poetry and music - all mediums are welcome for the project which will result in an exhibition at The Maritime Museum in March 2025.

The Parish Council have installed a public access defibrillator at The Crossing Micropub next to the level crossing - this has been registered with the emergency services.
Anyone calling 999 may be asked by the call handler to access a defibrillator in certain circumstances. The 999 call handler will give the caller the cabinet code and talk them through how to use the defibrillator - no prior training or knowledge is necessary.
A defibrillator is also located at SwH Memorial Hall.
The Council may endeavour to run some free CPR (resuscitation) training in the future for anyone who would like to know more. We will post details on Facebook and noticeboards.
Thanks to The Crossing Micro Pub for allowing us to attach the defib to your wall and for accommodating the installation works.
The play tower is in. π€© We asked for some reaction from our residents and they totally loved it π
Our thanks to the team at Playtime by Fawns. They supplied the tower and fitted it. Also to our local contractor DC Garden Services who demolished the old tower and did all the grounds works. They worked really hard to get everything finished in time for the weekend.
We're about half way there now! Very exciting π Hopefully this new Play Tower will be well loved by our young residents.
The work on the Rec is underway, the new foundations for the Play Tower have been dug. The team will be on site for the rest of the week. Please remember that this team have every right to bring the necessary equipment to site to carry out their work, any damage to the grass was expected and it will recover.
Did anyone lose a pair of blue small child's trainers at the may fair? We'd like to reunite them with the owners.
