Anyone with MS, don’t ignore dizziness! It’s not a ‘sign of ageing’ or something to have to live with. We know balance and vestibular rehab yield really good results. So get it checked out by a Neuro physiotherapist or audiovestibular team and see if there are specific exercises that can help you.

Therapists, use those vestibular assessment skills or refer on to someone who can dig deep if you don’t feel you can! Picking apart the issues and assessing different aspects of vestibular function can lead to management that can hugely change someone’s quality of life.

Neuro Heroes is an online gym for people with neurological conditions. It brings fun, energy and expertise to the physio-led exercise sessions that our growing community love!

We are looking for excellent and dynamic neuro physiotherapists to jump in and join the team as we put on more online exercise classes each week.

There are two opportunities to work with us right now:
⚡️ We need a passionate physio to work with us on Wednesdays - all work is from home and hours are flexible
⚡️ We’re building a troop of physios trained in the Neuro Heroes way, to cover occasional pre-planned classes from home on an ad hoc basis

These physios will bring the enthusiasm and positivity that keeps our amazing community coming back to work hard in classes week after week. They will deliver novel, engaging exercise sessions that empower and drive people at all ability levels to reap the rewards of exercise training!

Heard about Neuro Heroes and want to get involved? Email [email protected] or DM us for details. We’re excited!

10 days left of this whopper offer! If you need an incentive to get going this side of Christmas, this is it!

Come and reap the rewards of activity using whatever combination of classes you like. Just move!

17/01/2024

Need a little incentive or boost to get back into things after a slow Christmas or a difficult start to the year?

We’re offering all our Heroes living with MS half price classes for the month! Because we know the importance of getting back into it, and know that exercise with support is much more effective for people with MS than going it alone.

DM us for the code or do the assessment form in our bio if you’re new to Neuro Heroes. You all get a free trial as a first class too!

Resistance training is anything that uses a muscle against an opposing force. That might be free weights like dumbbells, resistance bands, a weights machine at the gym.

Remember your own body weight can also be the resistance! Something like a sit to stand or press up is a perfect example of this - you don’t need weights to make an exercise difficult!

Resistance or weight training can sound daunting, but the evidenced benefits in MS and other neuro conditions are huge. As ever the key is to start small and build up.

Bottles of water or tins of beans are a great starting point for weights. The important thing is to build up - you have to progress the training to see the benefits. And the recommendation is to do these sessions twice a week!

Jump in! Let’s start 2024 as we mean to go on with regular activity and great support…

Many people have slowed down over the festive period and had a well deserved rest. Now is a great time to get going again - not for a New Year’s resolution but because it’s what your body needs!

Strength, fitness, coordination, balance, control and stability don’t come on their own… repeated practice of meaningful tasks do the job. Let’s go!

Take advantage of our January deal to help you build habits that are meaningful and sustainable. Our physios will guide, encourage and adapt as needed, for YOU.

If you’re new to Neuro Heroes fill out our assessment form first and we’ll let you know what classes are right for you. Link in bio!

We’re the kind of team that take ‘bonkers’ as a compliment!

Tuning in, adapting, feeding back and motivating are also key features of every Neuro Heroes class…

11/12/2023

Bonkers might not feel like a compliment to some, but we love it!

Making exercise playful and silly some of the time can make it a whole lot more enjoyable. And when it’s enjoyable you stick with it. It’s a fact.

And when the instructor is an expert neuro physiotherapist you know that the silliness is backed by evidence based research, and that they’ll guide and support you through it, according to your needs. Fancy giving it a go? Get in touch with the team 👋🏼

04/12/2023

We asked our clients what they’d say to someone unsure about joining Neuro Heroes sessions and this is what we got 😂

Which will you choose this Christmas?

02/12/2023

Through December we’ll be letting you know what our real life Heroes have to say about Neuro Heroes online exercise sessions

28/11/2023

Exercise guidelines can be daunting and hard to meet for any of us.

At Neuro Heroes we break things down, and ensure that each class brings in variety and challenge that helps people work towards the target amount and type of exercise suggested for their neurological condition.

What have you got to lose? The first session is free 😊

Normally when you stand up, your bloody pressure drops because blood is pooled in your legs. Special cells typically sense a change in pressure and adjust the heart rate to stabilise blood pressure as needed. Damage to this process causes orthostatic hypotension.

We know there is increased risk with certain conditions, and it can happen occasionally or be a chronic condition.

Treatment is aimed at finding the cause of the disorder. Exercise can still happen! Always discuss the risks and safety of exercise with a doctor, but these small things could help.

Today, two fantastic resources for neuro physiotherapists. For those working in Neuro outpatients, community teams or on the wards, there are some conditions that you likely see on a daily basis and are up to date with current literature confident working with.

There are other conditions such as Multiple Systems Atrophy, Corticobasal Degeneration and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy that are less commonly seen, and can be complex to manage well, holistically.

Thank goodness for brilliant charities like and who pull together evidence to help us best support patients we work alongside with these lesser talked about conditions. Where research is sparse they’ve borrowed evidence from other progressive conditions where presentations overlap.

Alongside interventions to manage specific symptoms, we of course want to keep these people moving. Safety considerations are paramount.

These invaluable documents give us best practice guidance and practical suggestions to aid our therapeutic interventions. Call on them when you need to support a patient at any stage of one of the conditions, to help them live well and plan for the future.

17/10/2023

We love getting feedback after sessions and this was particularly brilliant to hear!

This Hero decided to clean the windows while she was reaping the rewards of coming to an online exercise class with us. What do you do when you’re feeling good?

05/10/2023

When it comes to exercise and activity I think this is one for us all to live by. Are you procrastinating over doing something you KNOW will benefit you in the long term?

There is evidence to show that exercise helps people with ’s and move, live and feel better. What are you waiting for?

Thank you for the marvel that is Julie Jones for introducing us to this quote last week at a study day for exercise professionals. She motivates and inspires a lot of us to go out and motivate and inspire others!

Meet some of Team Neuro Heroes!

Last week we had the pleasure of getting together at a brilliant Parkinson’s exercise study day put on by the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network. Not all of the team could get there but given the geographical spread of us all six isn’t bad going!

The neuro physiotherapists who work with Neuro Heroes are all experienced and skilled clinicians, full of knowledge and expertise, as well as enthusiasm and kindness. We’ll introduce you to them over time, but for now it’s a hi 👋🏼 from these pink ladies Anna, Jade, Laura, Kat, Milly and Nuala 👋🏼 We look forward to seeing you or your clients on Zoom soon!

Neuro Heroes offers people an opportunity to exercise, through a range of models. Charities fund places for their members, and NHS hospital Trusts do the same.

We’ve got another contract with The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery for them to refer patients to us for six free sessions of exercise.

For those people that need guidance, motivation and education about what activities can help their symptoms and condition, and support towards self-management in the long term, this can be invaluable. Patients don’t need to travel to the hospital to benefit from the expertise of a specialist, and the Trust can support their patients holistically.

The most wonderful thing about being an online provider is being able to offer a regular and specialist exercise opportunity to people far and wide. If you know an NHS Trust who’s patients could benefit from hospital funded sessions, drop us a line to [email protected] so we can discuss this model, that flexes to the institutions needs.

Parkinson’s symptoms often don’t take the stereotypical form of a tremor or stopped posture. There are over 40 recognised symptoms of Parkinson’s - motor and non motor - which people can present with any combination of.

Having one of these signs does not mean you should be worried, but some common early symptoms in Parkinson’s are:

📌 Trouble sleeping
📌 Stiffness or walking difficulties
📌 Constipation
📌 A change in voice - soft or low
📌 Loss of facial expression
📌 Reduced sense of smell
📌 Small handwriting AKA micrographia

Many people can track back with hindsight and see that they presented with some of these symptoms long before they were diagnosed.

12/09/2023

Other sensory symptoms in multiple sclerosis include numbness, tingling, tightness and pins and needles.

These symptoms can occur in any part of the body and can impact on movement and usage. These are one of the invisible symptoms of MS that can be difficult to explain.

Trying to identify triggers for sensory symptoms (e.g. certain textures or heat) can help you then minimise the trigger for example by wearing looser clothes or using a cool pack to cool you down. Many of the tips for helping manage pain can also be useful for sensory symptoms.

Last night Neuro Heroes took a trip to live, and had a rare meet up in real life with some of our awesome Heroes!

We love the pod for raising awareness of Parkinson’s and giving a platform to talk about it openly. But we want to hear more - more discussions, from more voices about what people can do NOW to help manage their

We loved seeing everyone so much that we’ll definitely be arranging more meet ups and in person events for the Neuro Heroes Community. It’s such a special one 💕

Yoga sessions with Katherine are about gently building strength while working on flexibility and breathing techniques.

Breath work can help people to feel calmer and more secure, and can be a powerful tool to cope in stressful situations.

Seated yoga is done entirely in the chair, while yoga includes standing and floor based work. Both are suitable to people with all neuro conditions - just fill out the right assessment form for you. Link in bio!

Let’s go! Let’s hit September like we mean to go on!

Just as many people are settling back into their ‘normal’ routines after school and summer holidays the sun starts shining in the UK! Hopefully this helps us all get outside for plenty of fresh air and activity.

If that doesn’t help, this will. Our September deal helps you get back into a routine of structured exercise - choose any six sessions over six weeks so our physios can support you in finding your exercise groove again, and help you work out what’s best for you, right now.

If you haven’t done one already you just need to fill out an assessment form - link in bio! Then buy your class passes and you’re off. A great deal for anyone doing pay as you go or bundles of sessions. See you on Zoom soon!

Today was a big one for Neuro Heroes!

We ran our first ever face to face session as part of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery’s neurorehab unit’s weekend leisure programme. We played games, scored goals and went on a scuba safari 🐠🪸🐙 Thanks for inviting us back to our old stomping ground NHNN!

Then this afternoon the wonderful hosted an info event in London with some great speakers talking on haematopoietic stem cell transplants. Neuro Heroes took to the stage to talk all things exercise and MS (shown to be beneficial at all stages of MS) and did a wee demo to emphasise exercise can be good fun by bringing everyone on a pirate adventure with us 🏴‍☠️ Excellent sword fighting all round!
