Dronfield Band Organisation would like to wish all our family, friends and supporters all the very best for the New Year, however you’re celebrating. 🎶💛🖤

You might have seen quite a lot of us promoting our Carols 2U initiative that we launched this year.

For those who don’t know, for a minimum donation of £50 a small group of us will play 20 minutes of carols at your chosen location (home, pub, social group etc). The scheme has been a great success, and not only in raising vital funds for the continued running of the band.

We’ve been touched by the gratitude, generosity and hospitality we’ve seen and received whilst out and about; those unable to get out, who would otherwise have missed out on carol singing, smiling, and singing along from their doorstep, families face-timing loved ones abroad and singing virtually together, Christmas surprises for relatives, and too many offers of Christmas tipples and treats to mention!

The community spirit we’ve seen has been truly amazing, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has joined us.

Our final weekend of Christmas Concerts at Greenhill Methodist Church and the newly refurbished Parish suite at Killamarsh Parish Council was a great one!

We hope everyone who came to see us had a great time, and you’re now well and truly in the festive mood!

We’ve just the small matter of six Carols2U performances, two more Christmas concerts and Bolsover Christmas late night market to do before the band break for some much needed rest and relaxation over the festive period! 💤 😅

Wow! What a week!

Another incredibly busy, but brilliant week for DGB….

We kicked off week 2 of December on Wednesday with a brilliant Christmas dinner and concert at the wonderful Hallowes Golf Club- a regular date in our Christmas diary that we always look forward to!

A small group of us then headed over to Woodseats Hall on Friday night for a beautiful Christmas wedding, before battling the Great British weather this weekend. Nonetheless, we’ve had a fantastic time at our two concerts over Saturday and Sunday.

Firstly Saturday, in the magical Peak Cavern - "The Devil's Arse" where we played to a sellout audience, who most definitely did not let the torrential rain dampen their spirits, and were in fine voice!

We wrapped up our weekend at St Catherine Of Siena church, where we were delighted to see so many of you having a great time at our Christmas concert, followed by the obligatory band curry to wind down!

Looking for something to do this weekend?

We are performing at St Catherine Of Siena church on Sunday at 3pm.

There’s lots of festive music to enjoy and get you in the mood for Christmas, and refreshments to enjoy as well! 🌲☃️🎶

We’re really looking forward to our concert this afternoon at St. Mary’s church, Unstone 🎶🌲

The roads are thawing, so bring your big coat and an extra pair of socks, and enjoy some festive music to get you in the mood for Christmas! ❄️☃️

There’ll be hot drinks at half time to keep you toasty too!

A teeth chattering night for some of the band, as a small group of us played at the Bolsover Christmas Festival and Lantern Parade ‘Winter Nights’ event (photo credit unknown, but thank you- they are brilliant!)

What a great evening, although we did have to defrost our valves on one occasion!! Thoroughly looking forward to the Lantern Parade tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in warmer news(!) a small group of players from Dronfield daytime brass joined St. Catherine of Siena’s church, Richmond, for their Christmas tree light up.

We’re just as excited to be here on the 10th for their Christmas concert! Tickets still available.

We had a great time last year, and it’s shaping up to be even bigger and better this year!

Some of you may remember that back in the summer the band performed at Unite the Union Band Club, hosted by the Unite the Union Brass Band.

We always enjoy playing here, and supporting such a fantastic series of concerts, however we are even more delighted to learn that the band’s Flugel Horn player- Charlotte Behan was awarded the best soloist of the season, at this evening’s prize giving event! 🏆

Well done Charlotte! What an achievement, and very well deserved! 👍💪🎶🏆

Christmas is coming to Dronfield Band!

We’ve been telling you about lots of different ways you can support the band during this festive season- now one for you to enjoy!🎄🎼🎶🎁

Dronfield Daytime Brass are opening their doors on Tuesday 5th December to get you into the festive spirit.

Join us at The Michael Church, Lowedges Road, Sheffield at 10.15am for festive music and light refreshments. There is no admission fee, however donations are very welcome.

Last Thursday, Christmas was well and truly launched in the DGB band room as we began working on music for our festive concert season!

From classic Christmas film and television, to favourite festive tunes and carols, you’re guaranteed to find something to get you in the spirit 🎄🎁🎶

The band are really looking forward to the next in our series of Proms to Poppies concerts tomorrow at St. Giles Church Hall, Killamarsh.

A great end to a busy weekend of banding with a solid performance of Peter Graham’s “Dimensions” at the North East Midlands Brass Band Association contest today.

The band came away with a respectable 3rd place, and celebrated the result with an excellent meal at The Shalimar Restaurant.

Back in the bandroom on Thursday for the official launch of Christmas at DGB! Keep your eyes peeled for details of upcoming concerts and events….🎄

What a fantastic afternoon we had at Riddings Park Community Centre for the first of our Proms to Poppies concerts yesterday- such a fantastic, and appreciative audience!

We’re also very much looking forward to our next one at St. Giles Church Hall, Killamarsh, next Saturday.

To top off a busy weekend for the band, this afternoon, we will be competing in the NEMBBA contest at the Whitworth Centre, hoping to put on a good performance that will find favour in the adjudicators box🤞🎶
