The Extra Max Course in Association with Straumann (Cohort 11)

Hard to believe this course has now been running for over six years, and was the first of its kind in the world teaching advanced full arch, including all 3 Extra Maxillary Implant Techniques (Zygomatic, Trans-Sinus and Pterygoids).

The latest group comprised delegates from all over the UK as well as several international delegates, including one from the USA. An incredible group of like-minded clinicians, all looking to improve their knowledge and surgical skills.

This comprehensive course is structured in a way to suit all levels of experience and covers all the theory and treatment planning required to carryout these advanced techniques as well ample Hands-on, including a full day of Cadavers.

Just completed two days of intense didactic and hands-on with an amazing bunch of Endo enthusiasts and specialists.

Contemporary Endodontic Microsurgery: “MI” Endodontics
Specialist Endodontic and Oral surgery teaching in a unique cadaveric facility.

Delegates had the opportunity to treat both anterior and posterior teeth in both arches in a real life setting using pre-operative and post-operative X-rays (using the Nomad) as well as piezo and conventional surgical instruments.

For those looking to improve their surgical experience there was ample opportunity to practice flap reflection and site management as well as identifying, exposing and working around important anatomic structures, including the mental foramen and sinuses.

Very few courses offer the opportunity to get real time hands on experience in treating actual teeth in Cadavers as well as use piezo and complete microsurgical treatments from start to finish, both single rooted and multi rooted teeth in both arches.

The Extra Max Course Cohort 9.

This weekend saw the 9th cohort of clinicians complete our Extra Max Course. This fantastic course covers all 3 Extra Maxillary Implant techniques and offers delegates the opportunity to gain extensive hands on experience on both models and human cadavers taught by some of the UK’s leading authorities in this field Pynadath George and Guy McLellan

The teaching faculty also included Consultant ENT surgeon Waseem Ahmed and Consultant in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiologist Lee Feinberg who delivered lectures covering appropriate assessment and patient management.

The course was attended by an experienced and enthusiastic group of clinicians including Maxillofacial Surgeon Gunnar Ingi Jóhannsson who made the trip all the way from Iceland to join us.

Soft Tissue Management around Teeth & Implants

This weekend we delivered our advanced soft tissue management course with Specialist Periodontist Amit Patel and Implantologist Pynadath George in association with Biohorizons Camlog.

This packed 2 day course covered the theory, including diagnosis and classification of soft tissue defects, treatment options and strategies, as well as follow up.

Delegates were given the opportunity to practice these techniques on pigs jaws and human cadavers which involved harvesting grafts from the palate, appropriate preparation of the donor site, as well as experimenting with Novamatrix, fine sutures and HuFriedyGroup UK & Ireland instruments.

These skills are essential for anyone carrying out dental implants and aesthetic restorative dentistry.

Advanced Bone Grafting Course on cadavers in association with Biohorizons Camlog.

This weekend we delivered another Advanced Bone Grafting Course to 15 delegates. The course very much focused on the practical aspects of delivering predictable and successful grafting in clinical practice, whilst covering the relevant evidence based theory.

All aspects of hard tissue grafting were covered, including autogenous and allograft blocks, harvesting, management of the donor site as well as soft tissue management around large grafts.

Participants also had the opportunity to identify and expose important anatomical landmarks and practice advanced surgical techniques and extra oral local anaesthetic techniques.

Fantastic to see clinicians of all levels sharing their views and experiences, something which adds another dimension to these unique courses.
