Every year the Party Kit Network does an audit of how many single use items we have collectively helped to avoid ending up in landfill. Our kit doesn't get used that often but we estimate that it has avoided over 2000 single use items being used this year.
The final count for the network hasn't been finished yet but it will be over 200,000 items!
Remember our kit isn't only available for the parties we are attending you are welcome to hire for any or your parties & get togethers.

I'm in the process of expanding our Party Kit options.
Currently we offer 1 rainbow kit which includes cups, plates, bowls & cutlery for 30 guests as well as serving bowls, platters, trays, jugs & bunting.

| WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HIRING A REUSABLE PARTY PACK? |

When you’re organising a children’s birthday party and you’ve got lots to do one of the easy options is to buy disposable plates, cups and decorations, use them at the party, then sweep them all up into a bin bag at the end and dispose of them. Easy peasy, job done.

But what implication does this have on the environment and why is hiring reusable items a more positive option?

1. Manufacturing each paper plate, bowl and cup requires energy and a significant amount of water, as well as the transportation required to ship them around the world.

2. Disposable items are very difficult to recycle. Themed or brightly coloured party plates can’t be recycled due to the inks used and shiny coatings. Even ‘recyclable’ options can’t actually be recycled when contaminated with food and ‘compostable’ tableware can only be disposed of in industrial composting units, not in home composts or in landfill.

3. Sending waste to landfill puts added pressure on local authorities’ waste management services and increases the risk of items ending up as litter or marine pollution.

4. Hiring reusable items cuts down on all of the above, creates a positive impact on the environment, is cheaper than buying single use, saves on average 98 items from ending up landfill per party, and gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. It also supports the waste hierarchy: refuse-reduce-reuse-rehome-repair-recycle-rot.

This is any foil not just the foil off chocolate eggs :)

You can recycle aluminium foil but you can only do that if there is enough for the recycling processing machines to identify it and separate it.
So save your foil and when you've got a ball the size of a tennis ball or bigger, then put it in the recycling.
