Taking to the skies for the second year running, Team Velocity flew 24/7 around the world virtually for GWAAC in November. Duncan and his dedicated crew made their miles count, with their flights for flights mission raising a staggering £8,000! In between livestreaming their efforts on Twitch, the team took time out to host GWAAC’s very own Air Operations Officer, Pete Reeve, and pilot, Alan Petch to talk about the work their efforts support. Hopefully, the post Worldflight blues aren't kicking in too hard! I must say, I am struggling to adjust to the lack of constant noise that comes with having Dave around!
The preliminary fundraising total for WorldFlight 2021 currently stands at an incredible £7,250.55. This total represents a massive jump for us compared to previous years, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support during the week!
WorldFlight is a hugely complicated event to put on. It would be remiss of me not to thank everyone who had a hand in organising it and those who provided the excellent and continuous VATSIM ATC coverage as we trekked around the globe. Without you all, the event would be a fraction of what it is today, and it is no small feat to achieve such a successful event.
As no doubt some of you heard us talking about on stream over the week, with a cost of £2000 per sortie, we have raised will allow the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity to conduct three complete missions at a minimum, as well as purchase much-needed supplies.
We are planning on taking to Twitch again for the Fly and See Santa event on the 11th of December, so we will be back with you soon.
