Today is International Women’s Day! I am reminded today of all the incredible women I met in Uganda and how we were able to support them! Over the last few years, with help from you guys, we have been able to provide underwear and reusable sanitary products, an education on how to use these and vital teachings on women’s health. We have a team out in Uganda at the moment, and are so looking forward to hearing about what they have been up to!
Keep a look out over the next few weeks, as we have some exciting developments to ‘That’s Pants’ that we are looking forward to sharing with you!

For the last three years we have been providing reusable sanitary pads and new underwear to students at Crossroads Secondary School. We have also been able to provide, by means of another project linked to 'That's pants', other beneficiaries in the wider community, including those with special needs. We want to continue to provide these things, as well as help the students to make their own reusable sanitary pads. We hope to empower the school to educate their students and, in doing so, improve the quality of life for everyone.

Our aim is to provide sanitary products, underwear and education to the people of Soroti, Uganda. In 2019 a team visited Crossroads Secondary School in Soroti, and it was clear that there was no provision, or awareness, in relation to menstrual/feminine health. Some girls, when their menstrual cycle starts, are vulnerable to sexual abuse and transmitted diseases. It was evident during our visit, that many girls leave education early, having become pregnant. This results in fewer girls graduating from school restricting their opportunities and choices later in life.

Tampon tax abolished from New Year's Day

While I was out in Uganda with The Global Challenge team I was about to start the Thats Pants project! We handed out pants and a sanitary products to the girls and explained and discussed the importance of these things and also the value of there bodies! We talked about periods too! Explaining and talking about being a girl and especially the difficulty’s for these girls sometimes! Such amazing girls!

So in April 2019 I went out to Uganda as part of a team with Global Challenge! At first I really struggled with what I was able to help with out there and if I was able to help at all! On meeting these gorgeous girls I realised it was going to be them teaching me! How to live, love and laugh in all things! They are amazing! We realised quickly that as women we had something in common! Periods! But that these girls didn't even have pants let alone anything for when they were on their period! We gave pants and sanitary products out to the girls in the school, we talked about what our bodies are doing when we have a period and we showed them how to use the reusable sanitary products!
