📍Cleadon & East Boldon News
🚔 Councillor Ian Forster has been instrumental in making E. Boldon safer. He has persuaded Sainsbury’s to employ security in the Station Road shop for the benefit of staff and customers alike. He has also got the Police to investigate recent crimes in the shopping precinct. Hopefully, this will deter criminals from getting the Metro to Boldon.
Stan Wildhirt found an old map of the Cleadon Lane Site where development of 202 houses on top of the infilled reservoir and clay pit is proposed. An FOI stated that the Council have no record of what was used to infill this site but Site reports show evidence of asbestos, bitumen, lead as well as many other nasty waste material. Why would the Council even consider this as a suitable site for housing especially when they published a motion for the Ocean and the development will make a mockery of it when it adds tons more raw sewage into Whitburn on top of the 800,000 tonnes already being deposited there.

Cllr Wildhirt has asked the Council to lay some wood chips on the Paths in Coulthard to make them safer and user friendly.
He has also reported the root damage to trees from Children making Bike jumps and the tree blocking the track.
The Council has replied positively and confirmed that the fallen tree would be removed within ten days.
Cllr Stan Wildhirt has long been vocal about the need to install more EV chargers in the Borough, including making existing and future chargers more accessible - a Motion he raised in the chamber recently.
Stan urges the Council to apply for local electric vehicle infrastructure (LEVI) pilot funding to ensure South Tyneside doesn't fall behind.
Clean transport is not only better for the environment, it will help to drive down our dependence on external energy supplies and offer a cheaper alternative to drivers.
That is why Stan welcomes the Conservative Government's £1.6 billion Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, which will see a ten-fold increase in EV charge points to 300,000 by 2030 – almost five times the number of fuel pumps on our roads today and will make using charge points easier than ever before.
Stan says this massive boost will make the entire country EV-fit for future generations, with charging easier and cheaper than refuelling a petrol or diesel car, all while putting the consumer first.
Tenfold expansion in chargepoints by 2030 as government drives EV revolution New strategy to improve the consumer experience at chargepoints significantly supports people without access to off-street parking and provides fast charging for longer journeys.
