😍😀
Thank you Rev'd Mary Harding.
Commencing initially as a prayerful response to October's unfolding terror in Israel and Gaza, the nightly weekday vigil in The Minster Church draws to a close tonight at 5pm. Predominantly led by retired priest Rev'd Mary Harding since November 2023 when these vigils started, it subsequently evolved to include the many other areas of conflict in the World, notably Russia, Ukraine, Yemen, Sudan and even covering the recent riots in this country; the need for prayer, reconciliation and peace has seldom been greater and sadly conflict is occurring across the World with so many people affected. According to The Geneva Academy it is currently monitoring more than 110 armed conflicts at present and millions of people are affected. Displaced, frightened, stateless, without hope and with families torn apart.
So, whilst the nightly led vigils will be drawing to a close for now, don't forget your Minster is open daily for private prayer, a place of peace and reflection for everyone of faith or none. You are welcome. The Minster is open no later than 10am and closed no earlier than 4pm every weekday including Saturday and on Sundays for our times of services. So, please feel free to visit and spend some time in the tranquility of the Minster, set right in the middle of town and maybe you can continue with prayer and contemplation for all those affected by war or issues you may have closer to home.
Thank you to Mary and to those who led these nightly vigils in her absence over the past 10 months. May our life be our prayer.
Please come along and support the Minster tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Thursday 29th August, in a change to the original published programme of Thursday concerts in the Minster, we welcome back Nicholas Brown on the piano. He will be playing some music from Mozart to entertain us between 12.30pm and 1pm. Entry is free, but we welcome any donations you may wish to give us towards the upkeep of the historic Grade II* Minster that graces the centre of our lovely town of Axminster.
Oriel Chapman, a young organist who was originally scheduled to perform tomorrow will be playing for us on 26th September instead.
Some of us are at Greenbelt this weekend. If you cannot make it you can join in this way and hear some of the awesome talks.
For tomorrow's lunchtime concert at The Minster Church we look forward to welcoming back entertainer Nicolas Goodwin (aka the Axminster Town Crier).
