Baby Emilija, born 27th April 2021 to Lucy, Tom and her 2 big sisters 🥰
Lucy had 2 very different experiences with her first two births and wanted to learn hypnobirthing techniques to enable her to feel in control of her third labour.
Lucy was induced and Emilija was back to back. She was delivered with hypnobirthing techniques, the birth pool, gas & air and a super supportive partner 👩‍❤️‍👨
Not only did Lucy achieve exactly the birth she was hoping for, all the medical professionals in the room were in awe of her strength & how calm she was 🦸🏼‍♀️

‘Big’ baby?
You’re approaching full term and your bump measurement isn’t quite following the ‘normal’ line...so you go for a growth scan.
Baby is deemed ‘big’ and you’re immediately offered either an induction or C-Section.
It’s likely by this point you’re mega confused, anxious and starting to doubt your body’s ability to birth your baby.
What you really need to know if you’re told you’re carrying a ‘big’ baby:
🤰🏾The bump measurement is very dependant on each midwife’s approach, e.g. where she starts & finishes.
🤰🏻It also depends on your body & how you carry.
🤰🏿It’s perfectly normal to be slightly above ‘normal’ for these reasons.
🤰🏼Growth scans are proven not to be very accurate for measuring babies at full term.
🤰🏽NICE guidelines state that induction of labour should not be carried out purely because the baby is suspected to be ‘big’.
🤰🏼What is ‘big’ anyway? What’s ‘big’ for one Mama’s body, won’t be for another. The process is all about you & your baby, not the average woman in the UK.
🤰🏻Babies come in all shapes and sizes. And your body will go through the same process no matter what! Your baby is the perfect size for your body 🥰
🤰🏽Include birth videos and birth stories in your research.
🤰🏿Always use your B.R.A.I.N. to explore your options, pin the healthcare professionals down & and made a plan that YOU feel comfortable with, based on evidence.
🤰🏼Whatever the plan looks like you need to be happy and in control 😊

Staying calm during your baby’s birth has a number of benefits...
💕Encourages your body to produce more oxytocin (which can help your labour progress).
🙌🏻Relaxes your muscles so baby can birth more easily.
🌬Allows you to breathe calmly & rhythmically, getting more oxygen to you and your baby.
This affirmation reminds us how entwined Mama & baby are and how appreciative baby is of a calm mum.
This is true no matter whether you’re having a vaginal birth, a birth with intervention or a C-Section, which is why hypnobirthing is relevant for all 🥰

Becoming more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more, help understand ourselves better and help our brains to think about things differently.

Checkout The Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists most recent post & follow the link in their bio for tools & up to date information about the COVID-19 vaccines with pregnancy and fertility.
These resources are really user friendly (there a Q&A, a leaflet and a useful decision aid which I’ll post to my stories).
The guides are also approved by the RCM (Royal College Midwives) who are the same organisation who have accredited the Mama Glow Studio course (via ) ☺️

Sienna Crofts, born 6th January 2020 to the gorgeous Gabby & Henry.
Having been anxious about giving birth, Gabby ‘ended up loving it’ and had a super positive (& rather quick!) experience.
Gabby & Henry used Mama Glow affirmations, visualisations and breathing techniques to deliver baby girl. The couple felt ‘so calm & loved and able to enjoy the golden hour of skin to skin and feeding’ after such a positive birth.

Beau Burns, born 25th December 2020 to incredible first time parents Helen & John.
Helen experienced a number of challenges and complications in the lead up to & after Beau’s birth. Her choice to have an epidural was a positive decision by Mama & Birth Partner to enable her to preserve the little energy she had left and deliver Beau in the most calm environment possible.
Mama Glow Studio Hypnobirthing isn’t about having a particular type of birth, and we recognise things can change along the way. Our courses aim to educate, empower and provide a toolkit that enables birthing women to have control of their decisions and create a positive experience.
Beau was born in a period of calm at 5.02pm on Christmas Day to a Mama “very in my
zone”.

One of my favourite .
You are not alone. Millions of women are birthing with you right now. They’re bouncing on birth balls, riding surges, experiencing positive inductions, c-sections & water births, trying different positions, breathing in calm, exhaling tension and squeezing their birth partners hands as their baby’s enter the world.
There’s such power in comraderey, particularly between birthing women!
Many women I have worked with find this affirmation most useful in the latent stage of labour, which can be long and often more lonely as birth partners may be off arranging older child care, sleeping, or waiting in the car park with current restrictions...
This affirmation ensures you feel supported & empowered, and part of a worldwide club of women experiencing the same 🦸🏻‍♀️

Who’s heard of Transition in labour? Who hasn’t?
One of the biggest differences for me between my first & second births was my knowledge of transition and my ability with birth no.2 to identify and overcome it.
Transition is the point in labour when your body shifts from focusing on dilating to delivering baby.
Your body releases a huge surge of adrenaline to give you & your muscles the energy needed to welcome baby into the world.
It’s a very powerful physical moment that can be emotionally challenging. This is the most common point in labour for women to panic, ask for additional pain relief or refuse to continue! All due to to the strength of the adrenaline pumping through their body.
My advice?
Make Transition the most positive part of your labour.
✨Ensure both you & your birth partner know how to recognise it
✨Embrace it
✨Celebrate it & be proud you’re there
✨Feel the power of the adrenaline
✨Know your baby will be with you very soon (probably within an hour)
✨Listen to your strong instincts (change positions, make demands!)
✨Focus on your breathing & use your favourite affirmations with your birth partner

This weeks snowy weather has been healing for the soul!
It’s encouraged us outside, created opportunities for alternative play and captured people’s hearts with its cleansing, fresh and forgiving nature ❄️
Being pregnant & having a baby in a pandemic is incredibly challenging, and I hope the last few days have had a positive effect on all Mama’s, whether you’ve enjoyed the snow cosied up inside, or out and about.
Hopefully we’ll be supporting each other in person soon 🤞🏻 but until then, all hypnobirthing, antenatal & coaching courses are available online. DM me for details or simply to chat, I’m all ears 🥰

Wet, cold and achey run round Priory Park today but so beautiful! Feeling very grateful to be running home to a now healthy family thanks to 🥰
Running 100 days post-partum hasn’t been easy but it’s been pretty cathartic to get out every day in the fresh air and challenge myself to hit the 75KM target. It also gives me some much needed independence & head space each day, even if it is just 15 mins out of the house!
Happy Sunday, hope all you Mama’s are able to take some time to yourselves today. Even if you just hide for a quick cuppa!

We’ve reached the end of the 4th Trimester! Our baby boy is 12 weeks old, and what a whirlwind it’s been.
I’ve been a little quiet on social media as I navigate parenthood again but I’m still here in the background, being a Mama and upskilling myself to be able to support others.
From labour, to the fourth trimester & the onward journey as our babies grow, the Mama Glow Studio courses are designed to help you at all stages, through support, training and coaching.

This moment. You belong to them, they belong to you. There’s a lifetime of possibilities ahead for you both 🥰
Your newborn baby squeezing your finger is one of the most wonderful feelings in the world, and visualising this moment can be incredibly powerful in labour.
Knowing this feeling of skin to skin is just hours away can strengthen Mama & birth partner, and visuals like this can really help you to remain focused (you can use physical pictures, verbal descriptions from birth partners or simply Mama’s imagination).

I’ve recommended this book previously but wanted to give it a firm place on the page as it’s a standout read for expecting or new parents 📖
I’ve coached a lot of new parents over the past few years, many of them feeling overwhelmed, confused, clueless, lost, judged, unsatisfactory or all of the above!
I found this book to be written in such a well balanced & empathetic way. Readers are presented with a variety of unbiased options, and tons of resources to enable them to explore any topic further.
It covers everything from feeding and sleeping to having a sick baby, your mental well-being and much more. Everything you could possibly encounter in year 1!
Mama Glow Studio offers coaching for parents at any stage of their journey. Whether you’re in a specific period of transition (e.g expecting a baby, a new parent, returning to work) or you’re simple feeling overwhelmed or not yourself & want some support considering ‘what’s next’, get in touch to talk.

✨Mama Glow Birth Story✨
Olivia Harrison, born 1st October 2020 to the wonderful Stef & Richard.
Stef felt her first surges begin to twinge at 6.30pm in the pub, her waters broke at home at 9.30pm and the gorgeous Olivia was born at 1.04am in the birthing pool.
Stef was focused on her breathing throughout and used the Mama Glow hypnobirthing techniques to remain in the birthing zone. She took particular comfort in the affirmations that our bodies are made to do this and to give into the urge to push & go with it.

Birth partners are often concerned they’ll feel like a spare part. They worry there will be nothing for them to do, or that they won’t know how best to support Mama 😰
This affirmation is for the dads, partners, wives, husbands, mums, siblings & friends who get to be birth partners and need to bring it for Mama!
Set your own fears aside and focus only on welcoming your beautiful baby. You have nowhere else to be and nothing else to do.
Mama Glow Studio Hypnobirthing courses help birth partners to feel informed about all aspects of birth so they’re equally as in control as Mama. They will understand their choices and how to support Mama to have a positive experience.

We’ve finally setup a work space at home so we’re not fighting for a spot at the kitchen table or using the toys as laptop stands 🙌🏻
So lovely to have a calm spot to shut myself away and focus on Mama Glow clients 🥰 (this could be the first step to the studio I’m aiming for!)
Having taken a few extra weeks out due to Sonny’s health, I am running a few condensed single sessions for Mama’s very close to their due date, focused purely on hypnobirthing techniques. DM me if interested in booking a 1.5 hour slot 🗓🤰🏻

After taking a few weeks out to spend with the family, I’m back coaching hypnobirthing from next week and have spaces for Dec and into 2021 (via Zoom or in person locally, depending on restrictions).

What a week it’s been. Our baby boy was taken ill at 3 weeks old and we spent his 4th week in . Thankfully we’re now home and are all taking some time to mend 💕
I would encourage all parents & expectant parents to complete a first aid course 🚑 (you can book with The Red Cross) and be aware of the red flags for newborn illnesses 🚩 as they can manifest differently in people so small 👶🏼
Always trust your instincts. Never be afraid to ask for help or advice if something doesn’t feel right 💬 & don’t avoid hospitals due to the current restrictions 🏥
We were by no means perfect at all of the above and can’t thank our midwife, Hinchingbrooke hospital staff and GOSH enough for their quick thinking & care this week.
Serious illness in newborns is very rare so I hope not to spread worry but just a little encouraging advice ☺️

Absolutely love Katy Perry for this 🙌🏻
Who saw her postpartum Instagram photo a few weeks ago? Well she’s kept going! 🥳
5 weeks post birth and most new celeb mums would be spotted in their spandex or looking super glam back in their pre pregnancy clothes (like they haven’t birthed a watermelon 👶🏻 or been covered in breast milk - and the rest - for weeks).
But not Katy Perry! 🦸🏻‍♀️
This is a video posted by Jane Fonda to get people in the U.S. to vote, and look how incredible & real new mama Katy looks 😍
Good on her for promoting a healthy & accurate view of the postpartum body, and for being realistic about the lack of make up, hair brush or decent attire in the fourth trimester.
Hats off to you Katy. You are my new queen 👑
