I never thought I’d feel so good turning 30, and at this stage of my post partum journey 🥹

Let me tell you that lifting weights, sticking to the basics, training hard & properly - will transform your life, mindset, self confidence and body 👏🏻

And it’s never too late to start, here’s to my 30s as an actual muscle mummy 💪🏻👶🏼😂

Back to ticking the boxes ✔️

After a slow start to January (I can’t be the only one, surely 👀) I’ve finally got my sessions planned, and I’m ready to get on with building a fitter, faster & stronger version of me this year

Currently 6 months PP and definitely the strongest I’ve felt since pre pregnancy, so let’s see what we can achieve these next few months 🙏🏼

Even trained early doors, apparently I’m a morning person now ☠️😅 as you can tell my eyes disagree 😂😂

How my client lost 7kg WITHOUT endless hours of cardio or extreme dieting ❌☠️ ..

✔️ She followed and executed her training plan perfectly
✔️ she stuck to her minimal calorie deficit and her personal macros
✔️ she turned up even when it was hard
✔️ she listened to her body, and even had a week off due to illness - and still focussed on nutrition
✔️ she checked in with me and we amended things when necessary for her to hit her goal weight

She’s now confident in the gym, in her skin and ready for that beach holiday 😍

It’s been amazing watching bec grow in confidence and be a part of her journey, from someone who didn’t have a consistent training routine because she wasn’t really sure what to be doing, to someone who’s worked on her form and how she moves and now confidently turns up and gets the sessions done daily 👏🏻

An amazing physical transformation, but an even better body confidence transformation 🫶🏼

From being someone who shied away from photos, and lacked confidence in her self, Roxanne has unlocked a whole new level of self confidence by:

* following a simple calorie deficit
* following a structured programme
* committing to her goal of losing 3 stone (we did this in less than a year)
* building healthy habits and increasing her confidence in the gym
* learning about her nutrition
* having a coach who could support her and not restrict her
* shifting her mindset
* creating a healthier lifestyle

She’s had holidays, nights out, meals out, and chocolate bars if she wanted, and time off plan from me whilst I had a baby, but this hasn’t held her back ..

It just shows that results take time .. be patient and trust your coach and yourself

Want to know the best part of my job 🤔

Not a persons physical transformation - don’t get me wrong this is something that makes me proud - BUT I thrive off helping women BUILD THEIR SELF CONFIDENCE 😍❤️

Whether it’s in the gym or just in themselves, one thing I love is seeing my clients grow into a more confident version of themselves and know I’ve had some part to play in that .. for me a persons physical goal is a bonus, but the habits they build and how they change their mindset and lifestyle, build resilience and improve their self confidence - that’s what I love

How to get your body back after having a baby 👀

.. stop comparing yourself to other people and focus on what works for YOU without putting pressure on yourself ‼️

If you’re going to make any progress and be consistent you need to be prepared to turn up for yourself after a s**t night sleep, accept that not every gym session will work out, and find something you actually enjoy that fits in with your life now time wise etc .. just enjoy moving your body again and don’t put too much pressure on yourself

Personally for me along side pelvic floor exercises to rebuild my core, functional workouts have been the training route that have got me the above results 🙏🏼

I chose functional workouts because 1. They were in line with my goal of completing hyrox 2. They’re time effective and worked for me 3. I enjoy getting a sweat on and pushing my body so I knew I’d stick to it

I didn’t waste time dwelling on how I looked instantly post partum, I just got to work chipping away the weight I gained to grow a healthy baby 👏🏻

And after four months I’m at a point where I’ve competed in a fitness competition, I’m confident in my skin, weight wise I’m less than my pre baby weight (this hasn’t been a goal or focus at all) and my goal now is to build some muscle and chip away at this little extra body fat

Me and my big 15 week boy 🤍👶🏼

If there’s one thing that’s helped me most to adjust to motherhood .. is making sure I look after myself physically, so I feel good mentally - the better I feel, the more I can give to Hunter. So mamas, don’t forget to look after you too 🤍

Whether it’s just meeting a friend, getting your hair done, the gym, a walk, hot bath or a hot cup of tea.. whatever you do to make you happy and feel like YOU .. do more of that

It’s very easy to lose yourself in motherhood, and feel lost, it’s tiring, and mentally you don’t switch off, so don’t feel selfish for taking 5 minutes or an hour to just have some time to yourself and make you feel good

Absolutely blessed that I’ve been able to fit in what I love, around being a new mum. Being back in work and back training is what makes me happy, I have way more energy than the days I don’t train, I feel confident in my skin again, I’m seeing and being around so many amazing people daily, and most importantly I get to be a more energised and happier mama - it’s a win win 🙏🏼🤍

Don’t forget to fill your own cup mamas ☕️

Last sleep until we do all over again 👀💗

Absolutely loved it last year partnering with .. but somehow out of insanity we booked singles .. I am honestly s**tting myself

Mainly because I don’t want to p**s myself half way round, but I also want to get through it in a time I’m proud of - no pressure Ames 😅

Doing this just 14 weeks after having a baby has meant I’ve had a lot of catching up to do, to be anywhere near for enough to even compete as part of our growing hyrox squad and I’m excited to see them all smash it, and hopefully I’ll make them, myself and my baby all proud 💪🏻🤍🥹

Probably won’t sleep tonight, need 29373893943 nervous wees and a tonne of caffeine after an afternoon nap tomorrow, but we move 😜

He’s very excited to get lifting his dbs, and I’m confident he will be my weight (he’s a cuddly baby🥰)

Becoming a mum means your priorities have to change - but it doesn’t mean that you should quit working on you ‼️🙏🏼

11 weeks of being a mama and honestly it has been a HUGE learning curve for me, I’m no longer the top priority, as my baby depends on me more than anything, however on the flip side, it’s made me more determined to prioritise my health and fitness - not just for myself, but to keep me healthy for my baby

It’s definitely harder trying to juggle a set with feeding a baby or cuddling, and there’s been sessions that have literally been 2 sets and home time 😂 but we still turned up the following day

Top tips for prioritising your own health and fitness 🤍
1. Plan your days
2. Plan your workout (find something you genuinely enjoy)
3. Drink your water
4. Fuel your body
5. Rest when you need too
6. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself if things don’t go to plan one day - turn up the next day 🤌🏼
7. Remember you deserve to have ab hour, 30 minutes whatever it is, to work on you and make you feel good mamas 🥹🤍

It’s also made easier by the fact let you take the little ones with you during the day and run a mum & baby class 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (I’ll be seeing all you mamas in there again soon 😍)

Absolute slog running a 10k this morning .. first time in about 8 years running that distance and the furthest I’ve ran post baby, so very happy with sun 1 hour 2 months after having my big boy 🤍🤍

10 weeks before hyrox 2022 VS 10 weeks before hyrox Birmingham 2023

I’m throwing myself in the deep end by even competing in October 🎣👀 but I’ve committed myself to doing it, so I obviously want to do well 💪🏻

I have so much work to do and my starting point is 100 miles behind what it was last year and I’ve got little Hunter navigating my attention too 👶🏼🤍

This is to show my personal accountability to not only just complete hyrox Birmingham but to finish with a good time (mainly one I’m proud of) and staying up there with some of the fit girls in the gym for as long as I can 🔥😳

Tbf, alls that’s changed is Ive had my baby, got a thicker waist and a bit more body fat, but physically, I’m no where near last year ..

So, my training POA:
* most important is to get my core and pelvic floor strong (I don’t want added time for a toilet break or worst an accident 😳😂)
* run pace needs to be back to a comfortable 5 minute 1km
* increase power output and leg power
* slowly decrease my resting heart rate so sub maximal doesn’t feel like death 😬
* get bloody good at wallballs
* turn up and train with intensity
* enjoy moving my body and the process

Then November with an extra 6 weeks training me and the are going to try and qualify for the world championships mixed pairs - wish me luck 👀🤍

Getting back into the gym/fitness after a period of time off can be daunting ..

whether like me, you’ve had a baby 👶🏼🤍 .. an injury, holidays, new job etc it can be hard and you often feel like you’re back at square one

The easiest thing to do is to just bite the bullet and get in there, because reality is - the more you dwell on it the longer it will take & the harder it will be 👀

So if you’re getting back to it ..

🫶🏼 turn up for yourself ..
🖤 throw on a cute gym fit - always
👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏽 train with a friend
💥 set yourself some small and realistic goals to help you work back up to your routine (eg train 3 times a week)
📝 go in with a plan so you can’t be thrown off
🙃 ease back in (you don’t need to now train everyday and eat 1200 calories - correct nutrition and build your workouts back up 👏🏻)
🧠 listen to your body - take more rest if you need to, adapt exercises, drop the weight etc
💪🏻 train with purpose and intensity

And watch how quick you form those healthy habits again 🧚🏼

A little post partum reality check 👶🏼🤍
& a reminder that everyone’s post partum journey is UNIQUE - no one’s journey will be the same

I’m beyond proud of my body for how it’s healing 3 weeks PP - both physically and how much I’ve overcome my baby blues and that hormone shift (it hit me hard 🥹🥹)

I’ve found this last three weeks really challenging, from not wanting to leave the house and being anxious to go back into the gym (my second home), crying all day, ignoring people who’ve reached out to me, and just feeling a bit lost - all whilst loving every second with Hunter, it’s a bizarre journey 🥲

It’s hard to appreciate your body and it’s achievements when you can be struggling to deal with the transition of becoming a mum .. so take this as your reminder to not forget to look after you too 🫶🏼

here’s the reality of my body after 3 weeks ..

🤍 a soft, squishy tummy and lose skin (granted it’s a lot flatter)
🤍 dark linear nigra
🤍 cellulite on my legs and bum
🤍 stretch marks on my legs
🤍 6kg heavier (all fat mass)
🤍 less muscle definition in my glutes/legs
🤍 decreased level of fitness
🤍 thicker waist

So for all my baby mamas, your body has just endured the most magical and physically demanding journey, cut yourself some slack, be proud of YOUR body and how it’s changed & let’s stop comparing yourself to other people. 🤍🤍🤍
