Nope, can’t fight my tiredness.
Here’s a great song to finish the day.

After a late night and no sleep last night, I'm feeling like this right now.
But I have editing I really want to do, so my panda eyes are just going to have to look even blacker tomorrow.
When you stand in the wings, look up to the gods, you imagine anything can happen.
When it's quiet in the theatre, and there's nobody else there, all you see are the shadows, and all you hear are the whispers and echoes.
May your Wednesday by bright and breezy.

Missing library books in Australia.
‘The incentive to steal isn’t there’: the lost cause of tracking library theft Few Australian libraries know how many items are stolen – be it the Bible or DVDs – and many no longer have an overdue fee
That was fun!
Been a long time since I’ve done an open mic night.
Reading from Unseen Follower, that had everyone holding their breath… then I lowered the tone with my Christmas nuts poem that had everyone in stitches.
Maybe next time 🤞
Just announced, the Writer's Prize 2024 shortlists! Nine books, three categories - discover the nominees here: https://bit.ly/41THKx2
There is no happiness like that of being loved by your fellow creatures, and feeling that your presence is an addition to their comfort.

For everyone who has snow today.
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
BY ROBERT FROST
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it q***r
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Now we're back to the usual routine, and as it's Tuesday, that means it's your
WORD OF THE DAY
and this week it's kakorrhaphiophobia - the abnormal fear of failure.
It’s so cold in my house this morning, I’m thinking of leaving the fridge door open to let some heat in 🥶
This will be me today.
I know this, because yesterday was a relatively quiet day, and it shouldn't have been, I never, ever, have a quiet day, which is why I'm expecting today to go bonkers from around 9.01am
Wish me luck, and prep the quiet dark room for my return at close of business later.
Work day done, dinner done, mountain of washing up to do, time to turn my attention to my WIP.
And here’s a monochrome picture of me, though, tbf, I was wearing black & white at the time 🤷🏻♀️
Unseen Follower.
A short story with a big impact.

My son called to warn me it’s snowing in Lyme Regis, and I’d better head home tout suite!
I cannot tell you… there were flurries a plenty, I counted at least a dozen flakes 😂
How's it going?
Don't worry, it's either well into the afternoon if you're in the UK, so you're on the home straight, or your day has just begun if you're on the other side of the pond, so you're still fresh as a daisy!
Just four more like this to go!
More and more people are finding their phones have been hacked.
Social media hacking is a daily event. How many times have you received a 'friend' request from someone you know you are already 'friends' with?
Unseen Follower will make you check your links and contacts twice, check who is following you, because you may never know who is.

Just wondering... who have you had 'liking' your posts that is a big name?
For instance, I've had Ken Follett (official) and Richard Osman or could be Richard Osman FanPage like mine, albeit one of them on another channel.
Go on then, name some names. What celebs have been taking note of your diatribes and wit?
“This is more than a library, though books are its core. It’s also a place to learn, connect, develop, collaborate. Or just to be. A meeting place for our minds.”

Sadly for the UK, and his government are heading backwards.

The first full week of 2024 stretches ahead of us.
Wishing you all, strength, resilience, fortitude, and copious cups of tea and/or coffee to keep you going!
Have a good one, you've got this.
It’s that time of the evening, when, if I went to bed right now, I’d fall asleep in the blink of an eye, but I have editing and other writery things to do.
Which means, in one hour, when I’ve done what I need to, I shall be wired and good to go for several more hours.

‘Swearing has become more widely acceptable’
Interesting subject. This was one of the topics I was going to talk about on the Jo Good - Middleagedminx late show, but we went with ‘dinner party topics of conversation’ instead.
Personally, I think it’s a pity swear words are now part of everyday conversation.
Swearing is becoming more widely acceptable, linguistics experts claim Swearwords increasingly used for emphasis and to build social bonds, rather than to insult, say academics
Where are you in the bookshop queue?
The first Sunday of 2024.
I am enjoying my traditional relaxed Sunday breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and a pot of coffee.
I have a long todo list, but I might just go for a walk instead.
I know it's very cold for some, and the temperature has dropped here, but that at least means no rain and clear skies.
Have a nice day, whatever you decide to do.
Richard Osman’s cosy crime books The Thursday Murder Club and The Man Who Died Twice, followed by, appropriately enough, Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library were the most borrowed library books in the UK this time last year.
In February 2023, those authors would have been paid thousands of pounds each from Public Lending Right (PLR) payments – money earned by writers, illustrators and translators each time a book is borrowed. But not this year…’
The British Library cyber attack has led to author royalty payments being delayed. Whilst it is a drop in the ocean for the likes of Osman, for many authors it is a lifeline.
The fallout of this crisis continues to be felt 😞

A poem wot I wrote…
Twelfth Night Nuts
It’s all that’s left, this nutty pair,
From Christmas time, our festive fayre
Long since eaten, except for you,
On this twelfth night, there are just two
Nobbly nuts left in my bowl;
The crackers with their empty hole,
Waiting there for me to place
Your bumpy shells into their space.
Then squeeze their handles til you break,
Then from within, I shall take
Your brain-shaped kernels. Then will eat
This last and final festive treat.
Very pleased with my progress tonight.
13,200 words, and I'm onto the next scene change, and this is the juicy bit where my protagonist gets drawn into a web of deceit and lies.
Meanwhile, I've also just written a quick little ditty of a poem about Twelfth Night and walnuts I will share with you next... the poem that is, not the nuts.
Lovely morning with my sons, but not so lovely afternoon sorting out a tax problem.
Banging my head against a brick wall springs to mind!
Going to immerse myself in my writing to try and recover from it all 😫
