I love this part of my job - creating planting design mood boards. I’m using to create different boards for each planting border in a current project. There are a few different aspects and soil conditions in this garden so each border will have its own distinct mood / tone, using plants that like the conditions. Together with a few versatile plants that I can use in most of the borders to help unify the scheme.
I’ve trialled the tulips that I’m recommending in the bulb mood board & they’ve performed really well, even in this wet & windy Spring. A bold & bright mix of pink, purple & orange courtesy of Tulipa Pretty Princess, T. Princess Irene & T. Purple Lady. 🌷

How lovely to be featured by London Stone - their characterful Aldridge clay pavers really compliment the sandstone house in this garden, built earlier this year. The new path was a key feature of this design and I am so pleased with how the planting is starting to hug the path already in its first season.

A recently completed front garden transformation built by Lee and his team at Creating Eden. This was a lovely project to work on, mostly due to my wonderful clients. Delighted that the gravel planting is already settling in and starting to soften the lines of the hard landscaping. Plants from Macplants Nursery, sawn sandstone paving by London Stone , clay pavers from Chelmer Valley and Chelsea planters in textured metallic copper finish by Livingreen Design Ltd.

How sad am I ?
Just about to head off on holiday with my lovely family and as I wander round my garden, all I can think about is .. when I get back …
• Will my Sidalcea be over & done?
• Will the Phlomis be finished flowering??
• Will the birds have eaten my long awaited gooseberries?
• Will the slugs have enjoyed my strawberries ?
• Will I miss the full glory of Allium ‘Ping Pong’ which I’m trialling for the first time 😱
Of course I can be confident some of the stalwarts will still be in full flow - thank you Nepeta ‘Walkers Low’, Astrantia ‘Roma’ & Geranium ‘Anne Thompson’ 😅

Spa Garden, St Andrews | A lovely relaxing weekend immersed in one of my designs. This spa garden in St Andrews, built a couple of years ago by Lee & his team at Creating Eden has matured nicely.
The brief: Create a relaxing space to enhance the newly built garden spa room. Sunken seating, outdoor kitchen, dining terrace & relaxation deck surround a focal water feature.
Happy to report that I feel very relaxed & this design has met its brief.

First Spring for a front garden that we built last year with Tulipa Princess Irene doing her thing 🌷
This garden was a blank canvas previously - the client brief to move the entrance, provide parking for two cars using organic curves and orange pops of colour in the planting.

The bees were busy in the garden yesterday. My Phlomis russeliana was particularly popular .. even though the bees have to work out how to get to the good stuff ! This lovely pale yellow perennial will flower all summer long making the bees very happy 🐝

Good to see the planting in this design flourishing - planted just last year, it’s filled out nicely. The Allium Globemaster (my personal favourite) are about to burst into life 💕
