To***co is the most widely grown commercial non-food plant in the world.
π±
All parts of the plant, especially its leaves, contain the toxic alkaloids ni****ne & anabasine & can be fatal if eaten.
π±
Despite its designation as a cardiac poison, ni****ne from to***co is widely consumed around the world and is both psychoactive and addictive.
π±
To***co use causes more than 5 million deaths per year, making it perhaps the most deadly plant in the world.

Did you know - 90 percent of the foods humans eat come from just 30 plants!?
Have you heard of the 30 plants in 7 days challenge?
Itβs as simple as eating up to 30 different plant foods in a 7 day period. (i.e. fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds)
Each item only counts once in the week, even if you eat it lots. Get the family involved and stick a list on the fridge to see who can get to 30 in a week.
Choose a start date for your 7-day challenge and commit to keeping track each time you consume a new or different plant food over the course of 7 days.
π± Try a new fruit or vegetable that you have never eaten before each week.
π± Herbs and spices are a really simple way to add variation and flavour to your cooking.
π± Add fresh herbs to your salads and spices to your soups.
π± Look for mixed beans e.g. four bean mix or soup mix to boost your bean variety.
π± Buy frozen fruit to add to yoghurt, smoothies, oats.
π± Include a plant food at every single meal e.g. top your oats with mixed berries, add grated carrot and lettuce to your chicken sandwich or mushrooms and onion to your omelette.
π± Swap out meat for a vegetarian protein option 1-2 days a week e.g. beans, lentils, mushrooms etc.
π± Salads and stir-frys are easy meal options to get lots of different plants on a plate.
π± Swap the processed snacks for a handful of nuts, a piece of fruit or seeded crackers with some hummus and sliced vegetable sticks.
A more diverse microbiome results in a more stable and resilient microbial community that is better equipped to powerfully protect our health and prevent serious diseases!

Toxicity: Non-toxic, so child and pet-friendly.
Display: Ideal for an office, spacious hallway or any room, just be sure to allow enough space for the display of leaves as the plant grows.
Light: Ideally bright but indirect sunlight. You can maintain a Kentia in low light conditions, but it wonβt grow as well and will have less leaves.
Watering: Avoid over-watering and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. In the summer, water weekly but make sure the soil is dry between watering. touch the top soil and if itβs dry you can water it, but water less in the winter. In heated environments, you can keep your Kentia happy by misting it. Watch out for yellowing tips or yellow speckling on the fronds, as thatβs a sign of over watering. Brown tips and drooping fronds are a sign of under watering.
History: Originating from Lord Howe Island in Australia, the Kentia Palm is one of the most popular indoor plants, with popularity stretching back to Queen Victoria who added the βparlor palmβ to her homes. It is also known as a βsentry palmβ.

What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are young vegetable greens that fall somewhere between sprouts and baby leaf vegetables. They have an intense aromatic flavor and concentrated nutrient content and come in a variety of colors and textures.
Microgreens can be grown from various seeds. Their taste can vary greatly depending on the variety.
They are rich in nutrients. They often contain larger amounts of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants than their more mature counterparts.
Microgreens also deliver a concentrated dose of nutrients and beneficial plant compounds. As a result, they may reduce the risk of certain diseases.
They may be eaten raw, juiced or blended and can be incorporated into a variety of cold and warm dishes.
Microgreens can be conveniently grown at home. For those interested in harvesting their own microgreen crops keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming guide!

Beginner Plants - Peperomia
The Peperomia makes for a great houseplant for beginners because itβs quite forgiving and can withstand a decent amount of neglect. The plant can grow alone or grouped with other varieties for interest. It doesnβt often grow over 12 inches tall and while it requires medium to bright light, it is not too sensitive to light fluctuations.
The Peperomia is a great feature piece on a table, desk or shelf. There are over 1000 species of Peperomia to choose from and they come with thick waxy drought-tolerant leaves in variegated, solid, or marbled red, purple, gray, or green shades.
Provide the plant with good drainage, place it in a bright room (it does not require direct sunlight) and water it once the top half of the soil is dry. Thatβs all thatβs required to keep your Peperomia growing happily.
FUN FACT: there are over 1000 species so plenty to choose from!

The care of houseplants is vital. Taking the following steps will help ensure healthy houseplants:
π± First, you will want to keep your plants growing strongly by making sure the conditions you keep them in are as close to their normal habitat as possible. They can still be attacked by pests, but they will be healthier and more able to withstand an attack in the right indoor environment.
π±Try to keep the air recycled. Make sure there is adequate ventilation but without drafts. Humid air, especially if itβs cool, will cause fungal diseases to erupt.
π±Remember not to overfeed your plants. Too much nitrogen causes the plant growth to be soft and sappy. This makes them more vulnerable to both pests and diseases.
π±Any new plants you get should be isolated until you know if they are free from pests and diseases.
π±Be sure to check your houseplants regularly, making sure you look under the leaves where the majority of health problems for houseplants often start.

Biodiversity is a synonym of 'Life on Earth'. Biodiversity in the soil below our feet represents around a quarter of all biodiversity on Earth! An incredible diversity of organisms live in the soil and interact in a complex food web. And as they eat, grow, and move through the soil they make it possible to have clean water, clean air, healthy plants, and moderated water flow. Biological systems both natural and artificial heavily depend on healthy soils.
Grow Pro products are a unique soil additive combination of natural soil acids, carbon, bacillus and fungi designed to promote maximum soil and plant health across agricultural, turf and ornamental horticultural industries.

Beginner Tips
When to repot part 2
Plant experts talk us through the steps
1. Remove plant from current pot
Turn your new plant sideways, hold it gently by the stems or leaves, and tap the bottom of its current pot until the plant slides out. You might need to give it a bit of help with a couple gentle tugs on the base of the stems.
2. Loosen the roots
Loosen the plantβs roots gently with your hands. You can prune off any threadlike roots that are extra long, just make sure to leave the thicker roots at the base of the foliage. If your plant is root bound β the roots are growing in very tight circles around the base of the plant β unbind the roots as best you can and give them a trim.
3. Remove old potting mix
Remove about one third or more of the potting mix surrounding the plant. As it grew, your plant removed some of the nutrients in the current mix, so you'll want to give it fresh mix if you're potting it anyway!
4. Add new potting mix
Pour a layer of fresh potting soil into the new planter and pack it down, removing any air pockets. If your new planter doesnβt have a drainage hole, layer the bottom with lava rocks or similar (rocks, gravel, etc.) before adding the potting mix. The goal is to create crevices for the extra water to pool into, away from your plantβs roots.
5. Add plant
Set your plant that you removed from the grow pot on top of the fresh layer of mix in the new planter, making sure it's centered, then add potting mix around the plant until it is secure. Be sure not to pack too much soil into the planter, as you want the roots to breathe.
6. Water and enjoy
Even out the potting soil on top and water well!

Beginner Tips
How do you know when to repot?
Who better to ask than stateside plant experts !
If you see one or a combination of these signs, you'll know it's time to repot:
π± Roots are growing through the drainage hole at the bottom of the planter
π± Roots are pushing the plant up, out of the planter
π± Plant is growing slower than normal (different than winter dormancy)
π± Plant is extremely top heavy, and falls over easily
π± Plant dries out more quickly than usual, requiring more frequent waterings
π± Above ground parts of plant take up more than three times the pot space
π± Noticeable salt and mineral build up on the plant or planter

Britain is running out of land for food and faces a potential shortfall of two million hectares by 2030 according to new research.
Soils are at riskΒ from erosionΒ by wind and water, made worse by the loss of natural features such as hedgerows and trees; from heavy agricultural machinery; from over-grazing, climate change and intensive agriculture.
Poor soils also lead to problems with water supplies, and can affect air quality as fertilisers produce ammonia which reacts with other gases to form particles that harm the lungs.
By adding soil additives, such as Grow Pro, we enhance nutrient uptake, add beneficial bacillus and fungi, provides carbon to resident biology, improve nutrient conversion and water holding capacity of soils.
