Today I made a necklace consisting of Roman period (sheep?) bone pendant and beads, combined with thousand year old bog oak spacers. Happy Monday guys 🌀
A small amber pendant based on a Stone Age find and a small bear pendant I made for a friend.
Mammoth ivory bindrune pendant and hand polished amber bead. 🦣
Been having fun making amber beads lately! Stunning material that reveals its secrets when the effort is put in.
The bead mentioned in the previous post!
Antler rune pendants!
These rustic pendants are made of naturally shed deer antler, sanded, and carved with a rune or bindrune of your choice! Or simply if you wish, send me a short paragraph about yourself and I shall pick a rune or bindrune to fit you.
Invoke the power of the runes!
£15 including standard UK postage (tracked delivery available for an extra cost)
Now this is a special piece; African lion claw and amber disc bead. Inspired by the jewellery of our ancestors this piece radiates primal power and hums with a fierce energy.
Tibetan wolf teeth accompanied by handmade buffalo horn oval beads. This piece is a personal piece but I shall be making more animal talismans for sale soon.
Further progress with Trichinopoly (or Viking knit!). Todays spoils are this lovely silver plated (whilst we practice) chain.
We can’t take credit for the pendant, that’s the handiwork of Caledonian Forge, but we hope to be offering chains in both custom and readily available lengths soon.
(For reference this has been pulled through a 4mm draw plate)
Todays creation: viking knit bracelet!
Available soon.
Did you know? Custom Nalbound hats are part of our product line? (This one is a work in progress!).
Always 100% wool and available in the colour of your choice.
Nalbinding is my first love and kickstarted my journey into both archaeology and reenactment.
Constructed with a signal needle, is a practice that stretches back centuries. Archaeological finds stretch across the ages, but many surviving fragments centre around the Viking age. Its a slow process, with many stitch variations; creating a tightly bound, pliable fabric that will not run or unravel as with traditional knitting or crochet.
The holiday period is always busy for small crafters like us. I did however finish this lovely custom band for one of our lovely friends.
This was custom from start to finish and entirely personal, it was a joy to weave for them and consists of Icelandic and hand died merino wool.
I’m terrible at remembering to take photos but I snapped this just before I popped it in the post.
Get in touch if you’d like some custome weaving for your kit!
Happy new year from us both here!
We’ve be working away in the background to improve what products we can offer to our followers, there’s some exciting new tools in our arsenal!
Keep your eyes peeled!
Wouldn’t be a typical Thursday here at Odin’s Oddments without having a beard full of Mammoth tusk! Today I have transformed a lovely off-cut of Mammoth tusk into an arrow head.
Custom tablet weaving!
Looking to spice up your kit for next year’s reenactment events?
I have a commission space coming up on my loom soon and creating custom bands is what I do 😊
If you’re on the hunt for something specific, historically inspired and handmade for your kit drop us a message to discuss patterns, colours, and price!
Still available in time for Christmas!
We love to learn and teach ourselves craft skills (and occasionally others when we can!) and we know that’s a passion that’s shared by others. This project is a bid to bring those of all ages, skill levels and abilities together to build and secure a community and supply of raw materials for crafts like ours (which are often hard to find! Particularly in hull). There’s also scope here for heritage crafts (like Nalbinding) and workshops sharing these dying skills with others.
Please have a read of this project and see if it’s something you’d like to get behind. If you can’t afford to donate right now please spread the word instead!
Please get in touch with Sol Riot with any questions!

Mammoth tusk has to be one of my absolute favourite materials to work with. Today I have made a woolly mammoths tusk Mjölnir / amulet of Thor. This piece is quite thick and required a bit of work
It can be yours for £25 + postage
Good morning lovely followers!
It’s been a minute hasn’t it? We’ve been exceptionally quiet here recently because our masters projects have taken over. We had to pause crafting and promoting because there simply wasn’t enough hours in the day.
However! We are stretching our legs, blowing the dust off our tools and slowly restarting.
If you’ve hung around this long thank you, if you’ve purchased from us you’re a star.
Keep your eyes peeled for our posts. We hope to be taking part in some markets in the future!
