Councillor Douglas met with members of City of York Council Highways team today to make plans for changes to the junction at Heworth Village and Dales Lane to stop motorists parking on the pavement at the lights. This space isn't for parking, it's dangerous and inconsiderate. We're aiming to put bollards along the line of the kerb to stop vehicles being able to pull onto the pavement.

Heworth councillors met with the C*C Housing Team on Wednesday to talk about the challenges council tenants face in trying to get repairs completed. The councillors and tenants think it takes too long to get a job completed and done to a good standard. Tenants can also struggle to get treated with the respect we all expect. The housing team were very supportive of what the councillor's had to say and went away to continue trying to improve the service council tenants receive. Please let us know if you've been having any problems. We're happy to represent you to get a good outcome for you.

Heworth Councillors are running surgeries over the coming week. If you want to chat about any problems you have to do with the council, your community, your landlord, your employer, your finances, your child's education, Covid vaccination and testing. Give them a call or email them and they'll give you a hand. See details below.

Cllr. Douglas met with local residents, Sue and Pete from Friends of Melrosegate Field and the C*C Parks and Green Space department to discuss the application the Friends have made for some money to improve the facilities on Melrosegate Field. We hope to put a family friendly picnic area, picnic tables, a park bench and some adult exercise equipment on there for a start. Keep your fingers crossed the application is successful. We should know in about a month. Look out for an update. It's an old photo by the way, from 2018 when the community first started planning for this.
