Sounds a lovely walk, hopefully ground has dried up a bit now

📍 Paythorne Bridge

Just a short walk from Denham’s Rest is the grade II listed, 17th century Paythorne bridge. The bridge carries the road into our stunning village and was once the scene of an annual ritual called “Salmon Sunday”. Traditionally, on the Sunday nearest to 17th of November each year, people from all over Lancashire gathered at the bridge to watch the salmon come upstream and leap from the river. It once attracted crowds of hundreds but is much less popular today although the bridge still forms part of our very important local history.

If you fancy a nice scenic walk for lunch the footpath continues up through the woods and over the fields, bringing you out into the stunning Gisburn park estate and (taking around an hour)

The views from the top of Pendle Hill make it well worth the climb. And when you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the Coach & Horses for some well-deserved sustenance! 🙌
