A successful spelt sourdough baked in a Dutch oven πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ 50/50 white and wholemeal spelt.
Spelt tastes lovely and has less gluten than wheat flour. It is also an ancient grain. Very healthy!

The journey to Pain Maison

Who doesn’t love home-made bread? And making it yourself by hand is even better – that’s why I set up Pain Maison.

I’m definitely passionate about baking bread even if I’m not too sure when it all started. Being raised in a country that produces beautiful bakes, I took it for granted. It’s not just the taste but the whole β€˜ceremony’ of going to the bakery.

It’s so French!

Moving here, supermarket pre-sliced bread was bought through necessity so after a brief flirtation with a bread maker, I started kneading the dough by hand. After a few disasters, the loaves started to take shape and to taste good – even better when I began using sourdough.
