About
BK Crafts teddy bears and bunnies are all handmade with great care, love and attention to detail. All my bears are made from faux fur, mohair, wool and velvet. I use wood wool, sawdust and polyester fillings. When using mohair I add small amounts of lead shot or small pellets according to the weight I want to achieve. The bunnies have glass eyes, wooden and pinned joints and are machine and hand sewn.
My bears and rabbits are not intended as ‘toys’ for children under 14 years old as playthings, but I make them as collector’s items or to add charm and to accessorise the decor of your room.
Each teddy bear takes on a personality of his or her own as I develop the facial expressions. The same applies to my bunnies and it is around that time that I seem to find just the right name for them.
Oh! this looks like a ‘Henry’ or maybe I find myself saying “this is definitely looking like being called ‘Chocolate Chip Cookie.’ After that I decide on the colours of the ribbon or the cardigan that they will wear. I have designed my own knitting patterns for cardigans and jumpers and like to make each one to fit comfortably and look cute. I try to use quality wools such as 100% Shetland or lambswool.
