What we’ve been hiding in the background ✨

From thinking up the concept on the Slopes in March, commercial hospitality sites like this one with a multi offerings take time especially when they are grade I listed which can extend the programme and budget massively. Dancing through this building of 4 floors with this architecture is just dreamy but also comes with its own limitations.

We can’t wait to share more (of what we are allowed to at this stage). But we can definitely say we still obsessed with the gothic architecture of this site and pushing boundaries on the interior, no risk no story. This space was so unloved before with purple carpets and a restaurant that didn’t not utilise the space correctly. We have been challenging planning permission to stress the importance of the heritage with a balance of today, to not be pastiche 🤍

Back in the office we recommended and gifted this book to a client House of Joy. If you are a bit daunted how to bring colour in or create a personality within a space check it out. Does your home reflect you? Is there a space in your home that makes you happy? You can still create serene environments with colour. We love it when our clients tell us we gave them the confidence to go a bit bolder. There’s enough in life to be serious about, have fun with your creative side 🍭

The dreamy luxury of high ceilings and window panelling details, we can’t wait to show you the upholstered window seat and some other finished shots, but for now this cheeky iPhone shows the stages of construction nearly at the finish line and if you are question putting in that extra detail (mouldings/ panelling/ colour) or artwork, do it as it will make the space.

Your home should not be rigid or confined or think there are ‘design rules’ it should relate to your personality and YOUR personal sense of ‘Home’. That’s why it’s so important for us to have a close and collaborative approach with our clients to really understand their personalities, lifestyle and uses.

How is it Thursday already 🫣 dare we say it 88 days till 🎄

We love this calming room we .m.london designed bringing the woods and nature in to this snug escape room. This was an unused space previously, that so often is called the ‘spare room’ which can just become the storage dumping room. Now we are so happy to hear our clients use it so often, as it has a defined identity and purpose.

Calming corners 🤍 when designing, building and project managing this project we were obsessed with the period features in this townhouse. High ceilings, ornate cornices, feature fireplaces, original floorboards. It was really important to have a chalky white on the walls rather than a stark clinical white to make it fresh but cozy. Candy heaven over at 😍

Morning calling ☕️🥐 we have an exciting site visit back in our beloved 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 this morning. But first coffeeee and no better place to get it, than at our past project Ground Bakery!

We sourced this marble from Italy and used sealed birch plywood for the joinery. Our lights are from our friends over 🤍 our only involvement in the pastries are eating them 🙃 which are baked fresh everyday!

Giving some love this morning. Every time we walk past their building in Shoreditch, it makes us want to keep dreaming, keep pursuing, smile but also take a cheeky photo. Love this colour combo 💙🩷💙🩷 they support start ups and founders which always gets our vote 🗳️

Make an entrance ✨
Our nursery and co working project is situated in a grade II listed building. With existing heritage flagstone flooring, balustrades, original cornices and high skirtings it was important the design language celebrated the grandeur of the existing building however our challenge was to loose the intimidation for our little toddlers going to the nursery introducing a soft colour palette and making the space more inviting 🤍

Children grow up so fast!! Best client brief came from designing for this little ‘grown up’ girls room in Highbury. She came to the table with explaining she was transitioning to secondary school and moving into the bigger room (remember those days of the room upgrade from your siblings) to which she wanted it to feel mature, serene, feminine.

Back at our clients house in Highbury this morning 💫 On this project we had to address the externals as well as the interiors, we wanted the facade to stand out, be impressionable, low maintenance and elevated. Many are daunted to go dark… here you can see the contrast 🙌🏼

How gloomy is it today?! Here is a cheeky before & after, bringing brightness through this bedroom personality 💫 we created this design for our lovely client in Bath, who came to us with a white box.

Sneak peek as the countdown continues, 3 days till our members club project opens. This is the co work area with a classic striped wallpaper from and mid century break out seats from in in this grade II listed building it was really important to reinstate the original panelling, architrave and skirting.

Our Chiswick client is starting to settle in to their new property. This residential project consisted of 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, study, open plan living/ dining and 2 outdoor terraces.

Whilst remote working (and a little play) in the cotswolds it’s the perfect place to scheme for our remote cottage project that is in concept stage. Looking back at this project as part of our inspiration. Later on we’ll pop into as they do the perfect lamps and linen sofa’s for this project 💫

Our Wednesday pick me up! Small spaces do not have to lack personality, nor fear colour. We used a vintage mid century sideboard to anchor the room here and bring warmth. On the ceiling we used pink 08 to add a subtle but soft colour block, rather than a white 📦

Such a delight to come across our project in for the new family members club where children can roam free but the parents can also share equal enjoyment, being a home away from home. We loved collaborating with and Make sure your keep your eyes peeled for more to come as the opening date gets closer to its members and the public 💫

Throwback to our bakery project whilst craving our morning coffee and 🥐 double espresso pleaseee 😴

Our gun metal kitchen design with marble imported from Italy. This project is based in Hampstead in a converted fire station, it was important to our client that we created an elevated industrial design. We put in new and made good of the existing tiled full height walls. 🚨

It’s been busy. How are we in August already!

Finally getting round to showing you some past projects. We absolutely loved working with this property and client in Highbury. It was a joy to design and project manage all on a super fast programme! It was important to create a sense of calm whilst working with and embracing the bones of the architecture 💫

One of Studio M London’s first projects, feels a lifetime ago 🌟where we project managed and completed all the interior design and we are so happy to see it doing so well!

The site use to be a much loved and much attached too members club in Pontcanna, Cardiff called the Cameo Club. It was so important we identified a new brand ‘Thomas’ without loosing the support of neighbourhood and ‘local’ appeal. This shot is upstairs and perfect for private hire, upstairs has its own playful speakeasy style bar with an intimate and moody colour palette for the dining areas. Thank you for supplying the floor throughout. More photos to come!

We are elated that Penarth the second site is now open and ready for the public to enjoy 💫 we love seeing our designs become a reality. We sourced our table tops and counter top from like we ever need an excuse to go to Italia and joinery completed by which we will share some more photos soon. Ground bakery is a very honest and humble design retaining a warm minimalist approach.
