🚨 Belt Road Issues 🚨

I have been made aware of a number of comments last night (for some reason tags to this page don’t show my end) re road safety following another accident on the Belt.

Just to re assure residents these are concerns I am aware of and have been raising with LCC, as such a site meeting is already scheduled with the portfolio holder for highways and various highways officers on 13th Feb to discuss Thonock Hill, Golf Club junction & the Belt road.

Long-serving Lincoln Labour councillor Rob Parker passes away 12/12/2023

Sad news, whilst only knowing Rob for a couple of years it was clear what a great guy he was and an excellent local Cllr, it was always good to watch him in action at LCC. The respect he held across the chamber clearly speaks volumes about the man!
RIP Rob

At last week’s Lincolnshire County Council Full Council Meeting I used my allocated question to raise the case of 11 month old Neave from Gainsborough.

Neave was born with Cystic Fibrosis and was waiting to start life extending & enhancing drugs when she turned 1.

However at the start of November the drugs where removed from the NHS purely down to cost. This heartbreaking decision could reduce Neaves life expectancy by up to 30 years .

I’m devastated to hear the news of the sudden passing of our Town Mayor Cllr Tim Davies yesterday, whilst I obviously knew he was ill it has come as a shock as I was only with him last Sunday at the Remembrance Service. I guess that is a mark of the man that he was still there carrying out his civic duties whilst so ill.

It has been an honour to work with Tim (& Caz) over the years on so many issues and projects for the community. Tim was a brilliant example of a community Councillor who had the town and its residents at heart first and foremost.

He was always there with help and advise when it was needed usually with laugh & a joke, he even helped out delivering my election leaflets on many occasions! I will certainly miss all of that and more than all his friendship.

Our town will be worse of for the loss of Tim and the work he did along side Caz, we all know they were a team.

My thoughts are with Caz & all of Tims family at this time

RIP Tim ❤️

Lincolnshire Council Leaders express concern over lack of transparency in Greater Lincolnshire Devolution Bid

We understand that the text of a Greater Lincolnshire devolution deal has been agreed between Leaders of Lincolnshire County Council, North Lincolnshire Council, and North East Lincolnshire Council which was made in the announcement in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement today (Wednesday 22nd November 2023).

Whilst we acknowledge that some limited consultation has taken place with District Council Leaders over the past months, we the leaders of South Kesteven District Council, Boston Borough Council and West Lindsey District Council regret that we have not been able to consider nor offer comment to government Ministers on this full draft before the announcement was made today.

The three district leaders stated: “It already feels as though Devolution is being done to us rather than being done with and for us. We are strongly committed to democratic principles and will ensure that our councils will publicly debate the proposed Devolution deal as soon as possible after it has been published.”

Richard Cleaver – Leader of South Kesteven District Council
Anne Dorrian – Leader of Boston Borough Council
Trevor Young – Leader of West Lindsey Council

Cllr Young has added: “We are committed to working together for the benefit of our communities to get the best deal for our area.”

☔️ Reporting Flooding ☔️

If you are seeing any surface water flooding in our area LCC are asking that this is reported via the fix my street app/website.

This is what the highways team are monitoring and all reports are being triaged with flooding being classed as an emergency.

Felled trees etc should still be reported by 101

FixMyStreet Report, view, and discuss local street-related problems.

20/10/2023

We are aware of the flooding across the district, with areas such as Middle Rasen, Market Rasen and surrounding villages particularly affected.

We are aware of about 50 houses without power in Market Rasen currently. Some roads are starting to be affected by rising water levels, including the road at Harpswell between Gainsborough and Caenby. Highways are dealing with a large tree at Osgodby blocking the road and a number of trees are also down on the A46, which are currently being cleared.

Further sandbags are being requested regularly from Festival Hall, which West Lindsey District Council is helping to supply, and Market Rasen Town Council is delivering these. The town council is asking for people requiring sandbags to contact them in the first instance so they can be distributed. Please call 01673 842479 if you live in Market Rasen and Middle Rasen and need sandbags.

People are advised to log ALL flooding issues with Fixmystreet.com

The local policing team were joined by officers from specialist operations to detect, deter and disrupt offenders.

The operation on Tuesday (19 September) follows an immense amount of work by the local officers in Gainsborough over the last few weeks. By listening to the concerns of the local community and working with partners, the policing team aimed to reduce offending and address anti-social behaviour.

During the operation a further four people were arrested for offences including GBH and driving while impaired through drugs.

Dozens of vehicles were stopped, five vehicles were seized, six drivers dealt with for traffic offences were dealt with including not having a licence and use of a mobile phone.

“Today was a positive step forward”, said PC Lindsay Postles, Community Beat Manager for South West Ward, Gainsborough.

At last weeks full council meeting at LCC I raised the issue of Newlands in my division again not being resurfaced when all roads around it have been.

This is arguably the worst road surface in the division and residents are rightly bemused as to why it has again been left in such a poor state.
