Moments of Spring 🪶
Daydreaming of the next adventure 🛶
Can never forget the spare pair of socks! 🧦
Who else is looking forward to their next adventure? Currently in the midst of preparing for a trip up to Scotland and in dire need of some new hiking boots myself...if you have any suggestions for a good make of boots let me know!
Loving those slow Sundays 🌷
It's been a long time since I popped on to say Hello, so Hello everyone!
It's been a hectic year so far, usually I am quiet this time of year with thinking of new designs, drawing, rubbing stuff out, spilling my water jar, getting paint stuck on my jeans and creating a mess. But I'm looking forward to Spring arriving, already catkins and snowdrops can be seen and I''m excited to spend some time on the Scottish coast this year, fingers crossed I get to spot some seals. In the meantime I'll just keep daydreaming about them...🐚
One more sleep! Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for your support this year. Its gone so quickly, but Hedgerow Illustration is already a year old! It's been fantastic to recieve orders all throughout 2021 and I look forward to opening up shop again in 2022. Have a very Merry Christmas everyone 🎄
Only a few more days to go 🎄
Only one more sleep till the last day to order for garaunteed Christmas delivery. I hope you've all had a wonderful Saturday: in our house it was a final shop and browse in Cumbria...now to wrap!
Have a fab evening everyone 🦉
"The world was brand-new, and everywhere
There was a pureness in the air.
I felt such peace. Watching every flake."
Remembering Snow by Brian Patten.
Fingers crossed more snow is on the way for the North West, till then I'm happy with waking up to a frosted Lancashire ❄
Wild Fell Ponies are a rare sight, usually you'll only see the dark shapes moving over Cumbrian fells.
But they're an important part of Cumbria's heritage, acting as a cord between the county's people and it's environment. It felt only right to make them the star of their own Christmas card.
You can find this card here on my Etsy page: https://etsy.me/3lZZd2U
Think cosy socks are a must right now whilst I'm prepping orders to go out! Thank you everyone for your orders over the weekend ⭐️
Thank you everyone so much for your orders! It's so lovely to see everyone supporting small businesses this Christmas!
But I do have an important update: last day for garaunteed delivery before Christmas will be the 19th December. 📮 please make sure to get your orders in by then.
"And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof."
- A Visit from St Nicholas, Clement Clarke Moore.
Wishing you all a magical Friday 🦌
Nothing like an orange puffer jacket to keep out the cold ❄
A brand new card has launched on my page. I'm can relate to his sense of urgency in trying to get everything sorted for the big day! click here for etsy page: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
A Winter Walk card was inspired by our family Christmas Day/Boxing Day walk. Cosy socks protect toes in wellingtons, saying hello to Robin Redbreast and grabbing a log from the store to throw on the fire.
You can find A Winter Walk A6 card on the here: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1118112862/a-winter-walk-a6-card-christmas-card?ref=shop_home_active_3
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me; a new collection of winter cards!
All handmade cards can be found on my Etsy page: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration.
I hope you're all having a good start to December ❄️
It's already looking a lot like Christmas over on my Etsy page. New cards are coming soon, however you can find last year's Christmas cards available on Etsy now. (Link in bio)
I still love this card, inspired by our Christmas morning dog walk.
Happy Halloween Folks! 🍂
Who else is an Autumn fan? 🦡
It's definitely my favourite season, there is so much to enjoy it's such an impact on the senses. The comfort food, the flickering candles and fairy lights, pulling out your knitwear and squeezing toes into cold wellingtons for a venture outdoors.
If you'd like to spread the joy of the season, you can find the Autumn Treasures A6 card on my page here: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Autumn has arrived at Hedgerow!
Autumn treasures features all my favourite things about this magical season; geese flying overhead, cosy thick socks, reading by candle light and hibernating in knitwear 🕯
This card is a little bit different to my normal style, I've been playing with Gouache and loving the challenge of utilising it's bold colours and pretty textures.
Autumn treasures A6 card is available on , link in bio x
Have you ever spotted a lonesome barn?
Probably somewhere in a valley or on a moor, weather beaten with crumbling stones surrounding it and exposed beams emerging from what once was a roof?
It probably isn't as uninhabited as it might seem. In fact, it probably is home to one of these illusive creatures. It's the thing I really appreciate about nature; when left to it's own devices it reclaims spaces we once thought were ours.
I hope when you next see a lonesome barn you don't see a dilapidated building, but a fort for the Barn Owls, mice, swallows and bats, giving them a place to call home. 🦉
To help you celebrate your Dad even more this Father's Day there is now 15% off all A5 prints at Hedgerow Illustration.
Here you can find handmade prints created in Lancashire perfect for Dads with a soft spot for wildlife: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Offer will run from today until the 20th June 2021.
Rather romantically, this has been the most popular card so far in 2021.
I think what I like most about this card is it's versatility, whether it's for your partner, best friend or even a parent it's simple in it's message of sending some love to those who mean the most.
You can find it here on my page waiting for you: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Let's celebrate the Dads ✨
Father's Day is coming up soon, but don't worry I have just the card to celebrate the occasion.
I chose puffins as they are well known fantastic Dads! They help build nests in burrows, help incubate the eggs. and they've even been sighted battling with rabbits over burrows!
If you'd like to celebrate your Dad with the Puffin A6 Card it's ready for you on my page here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration

Are you planning a staycation this year?
Scotland is always a firm family favourite to visit during the Summer months. It has the most breath-taking scenery, mysterious folklore and dare I say, the best whisky?
The Selkie A5 Print is the perfect addition to your home if you too loved the tales set below the waves. You can find it here at my store: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Who else has enjoyed the slow life during Lockdown?
Spring is a great opportunity to take the comfort-fest outside, and reconnect with nature, go for a wander to no where and find somewhere new - dip toes in wild waters - sip hot chocolate from a camping mug or listen to the morning chorus in the sunrise.
Who else is enjoying the slow life this Spring? Let me know what you do to unwind in the comments below.
Have you spotted a Hare this Spring?
At our local nature reserve they have a fantastic whiteboard to jot down wildlife sightings in the area. Unfortunately according to the board I was half an hour too late to see two Hares enjoying the sunshine.
Luckily, I have my Hare A5 print to give me all the information I need about Hare's and their cultural influences in folklore.
You can add this little Hare to your home with just a quick visit to my page: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Who else is loving this year's The Great British Sewing Bee?
I'm in awe of my Mum's fantastic sewing, she's a constant creative and always loves a good gander in a haberdashery shop for her next project.
Often it is a case of 'Make do & Mend' when Mother Dobson is about, an attitude we all need to adopt in this world of fast fashion and environmental crisis.
If you're a sewing fanatic and love nothing more than a classic Singer sewing machine you can find the Make Do & Mend A6 Card on my Etsy page here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
As Spring continues and the sunshine becomes a regular visitor, Barn Owl's around the UK will be finishing off their nests and preparing for the arrival of eggs.
Barn Owls are fantastic creatures, if you ever want to see one hunting the best time is to venture out at dusk on a calm evening. Find a vantage point just off grassland, or field and bide your time. Barn Owls when in flight make virtually no noise, so look away and you might miss their beautiful hunting dive.
You can find the Barn Owl A6 Card on my etsy page here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Did you know 'Moon Starer' is an aptagram of 'Astronomer'?
Spring is one of the best months to observe the skies and here in Lancashire there lots of dedicated spots where you can get the best view of our beautiful cosmic space.
If you'd like to welcome the night sky into your home, the Wolf Moon A5 Print is still available on my page, and gives you a little bit of information as to why the January full moon is called the Wolf Moon.

What's folklore got to do about anything?
Folklore in my opinion still has a huge part to play in our daily lives, as it gives us the chance to discover the roots of our communities and how they have influenced our local culture.
I love to taking influences from folklore in my illustrations, as it gives me a greater sense of connection with my local area and generations gone before me.
You can find these prints available on my page, perfect for a socially distanced retelling of enchanting local superstitions: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Who is trekking this weekend? 🥾🥾
Time to grab your map, pull on your walking boots and take in this incredible sunshine! I'm definitely out the door today, as we're walking down our beautiful River Lune with a tempting reward of chips and a drink at the local pub.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
You can find Walk on the Fells A6 card here, perfect for the adventure seekers: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
Sometimes I like to hold off releasing new items and release them as a collection. But for my Pendle Hill A6 Card I've found this somewhat impossible. ✨
I've been interested in the story of the Pendle Witches since I was young, and was so excited to put this card together. Definitely one of my absolute personal favourites, and perfect for anyone enchanted with the history and the landscape around Pendle.
You can find the A6 Pendle Hill Card at my page here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HedgerowIllustration
I wanted to talk about motivation & inspiration today.
Lately I've been feeling a little less motivated, and as life slowly eases back to the recognisable it's easy to become busy and swept away.
I've taken a step back and dedicated evenings to rereading some of my favourite books. It's really helped me slow down and given me ideas for when I next put pen to paper.
What do you reach for when you need motivation & inspiration? Let me know in the comments.
Who else is pawing over a map, looking for the next adventure?
I'm dreaming of Pendle Hill 🧹
I've been fascinated by the tale of the Pendle Witches, a story of cunning women, religious politics and family betrayal.
Walking round Pendle, there almost feels like a inherited stillness to the land. As though it's in perpetual mourning after the events of 1612.
Absolutely thrilled to be working with the amazing Rachel & Richard at Goosnargh Gin hosting creative workshops and exploring the world of illustration!
If you'd like to recieve updates on future workshops make sure to sign up to their mailing list (link in page bio).
As Easter weekend approaches and spring is in the air, we thought it opportune to introduce our next creative who will be offering workshops, through our atelier experiences
From the very first time we saw .illustration and the work created by Elizabeth, we were completely enchanted. Having had a passion for nature and a talent for art passed down through generations of her family, it was a winning combination. Elizabeth’s affinity with the beauty that surrounds us and her attention to detail in capturing it in its purest form, is exquisite. Remember if you’re a mailing list subscriber, you’ll be the first to find out the dates for our atelier experiences. Link in bio if you wish to sign up to our updates

The Spring sale is in full swing, including the latest addition to my stock, the Nest Illustration A6 card.🐦
We have a little Blackbird family in the back garden, and every evening they sing. I'm fairly confident there is a Blackbird nest somewhere hidden in the ivy so I'm waiting to hear the little chirps of new life!
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone, you can find the Hedgerow Illustration sale here:
