We recently spoke about Local Area Co-ordination and what it's about.

The great news is that it's coming to Kidlington. If you’re interested in learning more, come along to The Baptist Church from 14:00 - 16:00 on Tuesday 10 September and please do share the poster with anyone you feel may be interested.

Local Area Coordination; what is it all about?

Local Area Coordination is a ‘strengths-based’ approach (building on what’s strong in people’s lives and communities). It serves as an effective complement to existing preventative support systems.
By helping people avoid, delay, and reduce their reliance on public services, resources can be redirected from interventions that prove to be ineffective.

Local Area Coordinators are employed by councils, based in communities and are recruited together with the input of local people.
They work in and with the local community, to help people, families and groups in practical ways whilst working closely with local groups and organisations.
It’s all about relationships and working together, to help community partnerships grow and develop.

Watch this video to find out more https://lacnetwork.org/ or drop us an email at [email protected] for more information.

Just under 200 people voted for their favourite name at Kidlington Gala day on Saturday, a fun-filled annual event organised by Kidlington Parish Council

The names were shortlisted from the worksheets that Kidlington Library and local schools kindly invited children to fill out with a helping hand from local councillors.

Saturday gave us some great conversations whilst we handed out goodies, wellbeing leaflets and our health walk maps. It was great to see people enjoying the fabulous entertainment there was on offer and we are already looking forward to next year!

This bank holiday weekend, why not lace up your walking boots and follow our new historic trail?

Following the success of our three explorer routes - Water Vole, Kingfisher and Butterfly, we are delighted to launch the ‘Badger’ map which offers a longer adventure from Kidlington into the villages of Yarnton and Begbroke.

The seven mile (11 kilometre) walk is designed for those who want a slightly bigger challenge and complements our three existing five mile explorer maps.

Take in the beautiful countryside and visit historic sites of interest including Yarnton Manor and St Bartholomew’s Church.

If a shorter walk is more suitable, our Zoo Trails are ideal and you can download both our Explorer routes and Zoo Trail maps on our website www.cherwell.gov.uk/explorer-routes

Paper copies of the maps can be found at Kidlington library and Exeter Hall.
