John N. Greenwood
I'm John Greenwood, welcome to my page. Stay tuned for my "thought of the week" But I think it’s something different. By now, I am no longer surprised by this.
Hi, my name is John Greenwood, and you might be thinking that I just can’t make up my mind. I seem to have developed the habit of waking up one morning with an idea in my head as to what I should do next. I now find myself on my seventh or is it eighth career. That of author, having woken up eight years ago and felt the need to write my first book “Tickets to Heaven” from which my other books grew

Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, set yourself a realistic New Year’s Resolution. Have you already fallen down on your resolution to make it a “dry” January? No problem; the chances are almost everyone else has. It’s hard to change the habits of a lifetime. If the previous 12 months have been “wet”. Then, you are trying to kick the habits of a lifetime! The solution just start again. This time, be realistic and resolve to go just one day longer than your original attempt. Repeat the process as often as necessary. It’s the only way to make this or any other “resolution” stick.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, set yourself a realistic New Year’s Resolution. Then, you can give yourself a boost by sticking to it and an even bigger boost by building on it. If you want to “work out more” and are just starting out. Resolve to begin with a brisk walk for a mile or two each day. This can then develop into jogging before you are ready to splash out on an annual gym membership.
Statistics show that just under 50% of people make a New Year’s Resolution, and just over 50% claim to have achieved it.
Don’t worry if you fall down on the first day. Trying to change a long-time habit will inevitably result in setbacks. You need time to adapt and make changes to your life, which means being prepared to begin again repeatedly.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, remember the joys of Christmas, past and present, as you journey through life.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be kind. Being kind brings you other benefits as well as the obvious ones. Kind actions give you confidence. Kind thoughts deepen your understanding of life. Kind feelings open the way to loving and being loved.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be thankful. Each morning, think of the things you have to be thankful for. Including the people around you, your family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Your circumstances in life. Activities from the past and events you have to look forward to. That ensures a positive start to each day. Such a habit will fill your mind and soul with love. Love which you have for others. Plus, a knowledge of the love of others for you. Good things will follow from that.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, always have hope. To have hope is not to close your eyes to difficulties and the risk of failure. It is to trust that life is good, love will always win and the future is full of possibilities.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, always have hope. Hope is a belief that should things go wrong now. They will not go wrong forever. I might be unsuccessful now, but I will not fail forevermore. Hope is knowing that if I am wounded, then I will be restored.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, accept that unhappiness is a part of life. This way, you will better cope with sadness when it arises. When your life is full of sunshine and smiles, be aware that life will not always be like this. When the clouds come to block out the sun, know that this will always be the way. Know also that these clouds will pass, and the sunshine will always return. Continue to look on the bright side even when the rain clouds come; after the rain comes the rainbow.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, put things in order.
Put the excitement of a new tomorrow,
Over the disappointments of today.
Put the good you see in life,
Over the bad in the world.
Put facing whatever goes wrong,
Over needing everything to go right.
Put rising above injustices.
Over negative feelings of being hard done by.
Put your direction of travel,
Over where you now stand.
Put getting over embarrassment,
Over fearing bad moments.
Put gaining skills to handle life.
Over striving to gain everything in life.
Put doing the best you can,
Over just getting by.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, live for each day as if it is the beginning of a new life. Don’t spend your day regretting past days. Or seeking to experience future days in anticipation of what they might or might not be. Peace and happiness lie in living each day as a fresh start to a new life.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be conscious of living in the moment. Do not fret over what has gone. Do not worry over what might or might not be. Live in the moment. It enables professional sports people to win. Let it also help you to win. Use your thoughts, senses and emotions to make the most of each moment of your life. Irrespective of what has past and what might be to come.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, take the time to………watch the birds in your garden - enjoy the warmth of the sunshine on a sunny day – marvel at the autumn colours – touch the cold of the frost on your windscreen – lean with your back to a tree and rest in its strength – let the distant stars in the night sky draw you into eternity - absorb the calmness of the splendour of nature. Let the world of nature be your haven of peace and your rainbow of beauty.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, feel positive vibes. When what you are doing refreshes your spirit, warms your soul and touches your heart. Then, you are having a positive day. Ensure that at least one activity in your day makes you feel these positive vibes.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, don’t be a square peg in a round hole. Be sensitive to how others see you and respond to you. Be prepared to knock some corners off yourself to make a better fit. At least one solution to life’s difficulties always lies with you. You don’t always have to move on.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, make the grass greener wherever you are now. Don’t accept that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. This phrase should be modified to state that the grass is always greener where it has been watered the most. Carrying water to green the grass takes effort and a non-leaky bucket. Are you pulling your weight and watering the grass where you are now? Are you making the right effort to enhance your family and social group? Are you pulling your weight at work? Put the work into watering the grass where you are now and watch it turn greener. You don’t always need the upheaval of a fresh start.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, sing your own song. Evolution has hard-wired us to follow leaders and seek to imitate them. This is why “influencers” or “opinion leaders” or media stars or famous people are so attractive to advertisers to help sell their products. Don’t follow others. Sing your own song. Only you have been equipped to sing it. Fulfil your destiny amongst your family and friends. Maybe you could influence the wider world and society.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, appreciate all you undertake as a worthwhile experience. This will enhance your mental wellbeing. It keeps disappointment out of your life. Even if everything does not quite work out as you expected, you now know how to modify the experience for better results next time. Always see your future as one of promise and possibilities, enhanced by worthwhile experiences gained today. On the other hand, however valuable, things collected today remain inert, lifeless material objects in the future. Choose a holiday rather than a diamond ring.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, in the future, practice acceptance. Accept the past. Accept your successes. Accept your mistakes. Accept your regrets. Acceptance is your best defence to keep your thoughts positive. Acceptance means you have a firm foundation to meet any difficult times that may come along in the future. It enables you to embrace new dreams and fresh hopes with a forgiving heart.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, think thoughts of love. We can change our lives by altering our thoughts. Think thoughts of love, and you will find that you demonstrate that love in your life and that those around you love you. Think of doing good deeds, and your life will abound in being helpful. As Shakespeare’s Hamlet states, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”. How you think about something influences how it impacts you. If that impact is bad remember a mistake is also a lesson.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, enjoy making changes in the puzzle of your life. Life is like a giant jigsaw. Each day, a new piece arrives. It might be a new acquaintance, a new job role, some good news or some not-so-good news. Be prepared to juggle the pieces until they fit to your liking. Look for the right piece to fit in any gap in your life. Once all the pieces of life’s puzzle are in the right places. Your happiness will be complete.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be in control. Life will make choices for us. Some will seem fair, some unfair; some will make us happy, some unhappy. Life’s choices are endless, but we can control how they affect us. Do you dream dreams with no chance of fruition or dreams that can come true? Do you give up when things become tough or keep going knowing the sunshine will return? Do you choose to walk on the sunny side of the street or in the shadows? Is your natural reaction to respond with a smile or a scowl? Life’s possibilities are endless, and the chance of happiness comes with each choice.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, know that you are your own brand. Within you, you have been born with your very own abilities, power and innate goodness. These enable you to appreciate the goodness, beauty and magnificence of the world in which you live. So inspired you can value what those whom you meet bring to your life. In your turn, you can offer your specialness to their lives. In this way, you are making the most of the potential of each new day.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be realistic and admit you are less than perfect. That is what being human is. Allow those who love you to help you. Take one day at a time. Live each day well. Be open to possibilities to widen your horizons. That way, you create your own rainbows.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, keep the light of your love for everyone shining in your heart, and you will attract the love of others. Be true to yourself and let your light shine on others. This will give others a reason to smile. Follow your inner light to your destiny. Stay true to those who admire and love you just as you are.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, be your own best friend by having faith in yourself. Take your own advice. Heed the voice inside of you telling you to be your own best self. Take the roads in your life you wish to follow. They will be the ones that fill you with enthusiasm and where your abilities and interests will thrive. Don’t follow the roads others advise because they are popular.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, always look forward to the next hour of your life. You are privileged to live it once. There is not enough money in the whole world to buy it back when it is gone. What you do with this priceless treasure rests with you. Every morning you are given the irreplaceable present of twenty-four golden hours.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, follow the Chinese proverb, “The glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fail”. Do not allow old misfortunes or failings to hold you down. Be empowered by the obstacles you have overcome. Try to learn something new each week.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, forgive yourself and others. This way, you will not be troubled by old mistakes. We can lose our tomorrows by agonising about our yesterdays. Learn what you can from your yesterdays and then move on. The key is to forgive yourself and others.
Take the advice in the photo thought for the week. To “B” happy, let go of past heartaches. No amount of crying or agonising can remake one event that has passed. But a little careful planning and thoughtful working out can make for many glorious times in the future.
