🎉 SO PROUD! 🎉
Congratulations to Archie for completing The National Autistic Society 100 mile challenge, AND for raising over £650 so far!! 🤩🤩
Through illness and issues with his achilles, Archie powered through and it has been great to see him sporting the TNAS logo during this challenge. 🙌
🎁 The final amount donated will be confirmed on *15th November*, so if you haven't already done so, you can donate on the fundraising page (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Archie1726126888044), which will all go towards The National Autistic Society's goal of supporting the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families.
✨They exist to "transform lives and change attitudes" whether that's through running specialist schools, campaigning to improve autistic people's rights, or training companies on how to improve the work environment for their autistic employees.
🏆 Archie - you have done such an amazing job, and we're so glad more and more people are becoming aware of autism as well as the organisations that support it, through your efforts. You should be absolutely chuffed.
Remember you can make final donations at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Archie1726126888044 💜
✨ Branding Basics 101 ✨
To help your practice become unforgettable start with these three essentials:
💬 Tone: Your practice’s brand voice should feel like your typical convo with a patient face to face. Whether that be friendly, warm & welcoming or fun & straightforward make sure to stick to this, so your patients start to recognise this throughout their experience.
In the example this advert is clearly recognisable as Nike not just because of the small logo but also the motivational and uplifting tone they use, which is featured across all their materials. 💪
🎨 Colours: Choose 2-3 colours that best fit your brand. Warm colours give a more friendly energetic feel whereas cool tones give a more calm and professional aesthetic. Adding a contrasting accent colour can really help to make your designs pop.
This example shows the iconic colour palette of Reese’s, who use a super bold and eye-catching orange paired with a bright yellow, which after being used over a long period of time has helped to cause anything using this colour scheme to instantly be linked with their brand. 🍫🥜
🔤 Fonts: Keep it simple with 1-2 fonts you use consistently. Try a bold font for headlines and a clean readable font for the body text. Experiment with more playful fonts or modern fonts to find which best suits your practice and philosophy.
McDonald’s here uses a nice simple clean font that they utilise across all mediums with a more fun and textured font to really make the key information stand out on the design. 🍔
These small details make a BIG impact, keep it simple, stay consistent and watch your brand start to piece itself together over time. 🏗️🏦
✨Another practice open day spotlight!! ✨
Plymouth City Centre Dental Practice held their first Smile Makeover day at the end of September - complete with all the bells and whistles! Balloon arches, branded cupcakes, and Invisalign goodie bags - they had it all!🤩
We have loved seeing the team at PPCDP go from strength to strength, and all the hard work certainly paid off with such a successful open day.
Go team PCCDP!💚
Todays Dental: The Pilot Episode. ✈️
Just kidding, meet Ben! Marketing and Design Assistant by day, (not a) pilot by night.
Ben was one of the many lovely people to join us in September, covering Hayley while she raises her little one on mat leave!
He began designing 3 years ago, after completing a Business Apprenticeship at a local dairy farm. Now we are lucky enough to have his talents across all areas of TD - designing marketing materials for our practices as well as supporting TD's socials and internal assets!
He loves designing so much that when he's not designing for TD, he still manages to squeeze in personal projects and commissions. 🎨
And as a bonus fact, he can "in theory bench press a fully grown panda" , though this is yet to be put into practice. We'll see what we can do...but panda-lifting may have to come second to Ben's recent passion of Mixed Martial Arts! 💪🥷
A busy man! So we feel very lucky to have him in our team, especially continuing the support for our practices.
We're still reel-ing from the release of our Culture video! 😜You can see the full length version on our website at www.todaysdental.co.uk/how-we-work 🤩
We've always known that in order for Todays Dental to be and remain a brilliant place to work, having a cultural strategy to act as foundation for our overarching business strategy was crucial. 💜
🌱It means that we have a long-term plan for how our culture grows alongside the business - it not only involves consistently checking in with how aligned we are as teams as we expand, but it also means developing leaders outside of our Senior Leadership Team to become cultural ambassadors for Todays Dental.
Creating a great place to work is something that all of our team members are responsible for, and core to the longevity of Todays Dental as a deeply human organisation is ensuring we provide the support, resources, and frameworks so that they feel equipped to do so. More on that coming soon.....😎
A huge thank you to Rockstone Media for shooting the video and valuing our vision for it as much as we did! 💚
😲 Woah woah woah, TD just's been shortlisted for 4 Dental Industry Awards!!! 😍
A huge thank you to the judging panel at FMC Dentistry for shortlisting TD for:
💚 Team of the Year
💚 Outstanding Business of the Year
💚 Dental Corporate of the Year
💚 Dental Brand of the Year
Everyone at TD dedicates so much time to making sure we stay true to our vision: to change what it means to run a successful dental group, through being a deeply human organisation, so it really means a lot to have these efforts recognised by the judges for a second year in a row.
✨ And of course, we wouldn't have been shortlisted at all without the incredible work that all our teams do to make Todays Dental what it is today. Two and a half years in and we just keep getting better, so thank you to everyone at TD for making it possible and 100% worth it! You really are the bees knees. 🐝 💜
Team work makes the dream work!🤩
✨The team at Eden Dental Centre chose to put on their first Open Day for children's dentistry - a passion of their dentist, Hayley - to raise awareness of how Eden could address the needs of the community and encourage and establish a preventative approach to children's dentistry.
PM Jo showed brilliant leadership skills in enabling and empowering her team to bring the vision to life, and the rest of the team really pulled together to make this happen, even dressing up for the occasion (a huge shoutout to trainee dental nurse Katie for becoming KT Toothpaste for the day!).🎭
💜Jo told us that the day was a huge success and the whole team had a whole bunch of fun, which is the ideal result! SO PROUD. Such a brilliant example of how an empowered and driven team can come together to create something really special, and we're all about that at TD!
Thank you also to our wonderful BSM Debbie and Regional Marketing Exec Georgia for being on hand to support the practice with this effort where needed!💚
Throwing in a little bit of that pumpkin spice onto your timeline🎃
👻Spooky season is upon us and maybe you've been thinking about how to incorporate a bit of that spooky aesthetic at your practice. We just had to share these pumpkins that were very kindly crafted by Jacqui, partner of our brilliant Area Support Manager, Dave, who was PM of Ashbury Dental Care - Budleigh Salterton at the time. SO CUTE, and she was very kind as to do one for TD too.
Just over two weeks to go so plenty of time to get carving your very own practice pumpkins, and we'll give it our best shot too so stay tuned!! 😉
Yesterday was Day 10 of Archie's 100 Mile Challenge!! 🤩
✨ Over October, Archie is aiming to have run/walked 100 miles in order to raise awareness for National Autistic Society.
💜 The National Autistic Society exists help the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families - be it running specialist schools, campaigning for improved rights or training companies on being more autism-friendly, they are dedicated to transforming lives and changing attitudes.
Despite coming down with a cold this week, Archie has somehow managed to stay on track!! And so far, he has already raised over £400 and is now focusing on his next goal of £500 - it would be amazing if you could join us in supporting him via his donation page linked in our bio and story!
We're so proud of you Archie, all of TD is rooting for you!! Keep going!💚
August and September brought a whole bunch of wonderful humans to the TD Resource Hub team. 😍
One of these lovely people was Georgia Holmes, who has joined our Marketing & Communications team as our very first Regional Marketing Executive!!! Yaaaay! 🙏
Georgia has got the super skills with a wide variety of experience, like Project Management in sectors like retail, government, IT, and transformation, as well as Digital Marketing, PLUS event management, social media, strategic planning and creative campaigns within B2B and B2C. Like we said, super skills😱
As Regional Marketing Executive, she's already been doing a fabulous job of supporting our South West practices to develop and implement their marketing strategies to create genuine, patient-friendly experiences. 🤗
🏃♀️ But outside of work, she's got a passion for running too:
"This year, I’ve completed multiple half marathons and even a full marathon in Paris! I’m currently training for The Great North Run in Newcastle with my dad, raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of my Grandad." 💜 Training is already underway so you can join us in supporting Georgia and her dad through this link: https://ajbellgreatnorthrun2025.enthuse.com/pf/georgia-holmes
"When I’m not running, you might find me horse riding or curled up with a good book and a cup of tea" - this weather is certainly the time for those cosy activities. ☕ 📚
How lucky we are to have you at TD, Georgia!! You've already made a huge impact with the practices and can't wait to see all the plans come to life! 💚
So unbelievably proud of our teams at Brynteg Tenby and Eden Dental Centre for being shortlisted at this year's Private Dentistry Awards!!! 🏆
✨ Tenby was only recently shortlisted for Team of the Year at the Dentistry Awards, so to do it again in the space of less than 2 months is a huge achievement. Definitely something special about this team!!
Eden's stellar team will also be joining Tenby in the same category, and in addition to that, have ALSO been shortlisted for Most Improved Practice. Their Practice Manager, Jo Douglas, has been shortlisted for Practice Manager of the Year for the second year in a row too! A huge congratulations🤩
We're so so happy that these teams and their achievements have been recognised by the judging panel, so a huge thank you to FMC for the giving the opportunity to celebrate in November. We can't wait to see the photos!!! Sending big buckets of good luck to both teams, we're so proud of you!!! 💚 💜
In just 5 days, our brilliant Archie Charles will be undertaking the 100 Miles Challenge for National Autistic Society🏆🤩
When we introduced Archie last month, we shared that he is truly passionate about raising awareness for Autism, as an autistic person himself.
✨The National Autistic Society exists help the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families - be it running specialist schools, campaigning for improved rights or training companies on being more autism-friendly, they are dedicated to transforming lives and changing attitudes.
💚It would be amazing if we could share this far and wide, and donate to Archie's cause, supporting his mission to complete 100 miles in October!! He'll be sharing his progress with us throughout the month so stay tuned!

✨A night of celebrations for our Brynteg Tenby Team after reaching the finals for Team of the Year at .🤩
We couldn't be prouder! Such a tight knit team is fully deserving of celebrating how brilliant they are, and we're so happy you enjoyed yourselves.
🏆A huge well done to Jayde and Jasmine who sneakily submitted the entry without the rest of the team knowing, as it made it all the more special to surprise the team when the shortlist came through!
We hope you all had a fabulous time to match how fabulous you all looked! 💃🕺Congratulations to Team Tenby!!💜💚
Everyone meet Rhys!! (The one on the right 😉)
Rhys is one of our brilliant Management Accountants, and joined us in June of this year. He qualified as an accountant shortly afterwards in July, after studying for it alongside his career for the last 8 years (within which he took a total of 28 exams!). 🤯
✨Having worked in accountancy practices initially, and then in industry, now as Management Accountant his key role is supporting the finance team to produce month-end reports. The most important part of which is collaborating with our Business Support Managers and Practice Managers to gather context for the data so that these reports can tell the full story. This helps decision-makers across the group act with a clearer understanding of what's going on in all areas of the business.🤩
🏝And since he's only recently been released from all his studying obligations, Rhys is now on the lookout for new ways to spend his time!! In the meantime, he'll be hanging out with his best dog friend Moose (the glorious golden on the left🐾) or, he says, "doing something involving cars, usually involving buying, selling, breaking, or fixing them"!🚙
So glad you're in the TD team Rhys, you have made such a difference in these last few months!!💜
🤯It's been a busy month at TD, with three regional Practice Manager meetings all going ahead with our Business Support Managers leading.
It's so important to have these regular in-person check-ins with our teams, and it's even better when we can bring them all together so the Practice Managers can strengthen the relationships between each other and know that they can lean on their network to celebrate their wins and work through their challenges.💜
There were different focuses for each of the meetings, with some delving into the core leadership skills as a Practice Manager (as the South West PMs learned, there's a good overlap with Football Managers!⚽) and others bringing focus onto the marketing and clinical aspects of the role.
🙏A huge thank you to all involved, and to all of our Practice Managers who make these meetings worthwhile! We love getting you all together, catching up as a team, and supporting your career development.💚
What a way to close out the summer!!
The Resource Hub team was lucky enough to attend a very sunny day last week at the Paxmans' - made even more special that we all brought our loved ones along and put faces to the names we talk about in the office and online!!
As always, it's was lovely to see as many of the team as possible in one place - with many of our team often out on the road or working from homes distant from our Somerset Hub. For such a special occasion, even our Chief Wellbeing Officers had to dress up😍🐾
A huge thank you to Rob and Lyn for hosting - and a double thank you to Lyn and Chrissy for organising the space as you made it such a welcoming and fun place for everyone no matter their age!! Beautiful place, beautiful food, beautiful people - what more could we have asked for??
TD Summer, over and out💚💜
✨ Culture Video Reveal!!!✨
Full version now up on our website so follow link at the bottom of this post to see it in all its glory!!
Ecstatic to be releasing this video on Todays Dental Culture into the world!! All of the conversations and experiences we've had over the last two and a half years have made this possible, and it's brilliant to be able to share with the wider world why it's so important to us and how it all works together.
A huge thank you to everyone who got involved in the making of this video - Rob, Lyn, Ramona, Tori, Laura, Cat - and especially to Sam and Ben .co.uk who captured our team so authentically.
We're so proud of the results, and we can't wait to hear your thoughts!!
Head to https://www.todaysdental.co.uk/about-us/how-we-work/ to watch the full 5 minute version💚💜
Look who it is!! It’s our wonderful Archie Charles who joined us in March this year! 😎
Archie is our Associate Pay Admin, looking after dentist pay while the lovely Zoe is on mat leave 💚
Having worked in payroll, finance, and HR roles for 5 years, and taken a break to become an Asbestos Analyst & Trainer, he’s now excited to be back in a role that he feels more comfortable in. Here he provides core support to all of our practice teams with training needed to feel more confident on our systems. When he’s not working directly with our practices, he’s working on ways to improve the process and system to make it easier for all.
⛳ Outside of work, he’s a big fan of sport - especially cricket, golf, and football. But aside from sport, he enjoys a jaunt on the beach or a nice walk with a beer garden at the end. That said, a day inside gaming works a treat too. 🎮
Archie was diagnosed with autism at 4 years old, and one of the core traits he attributes to it has been his drive to consistently improve himself:
“I’m always looking at ways to improve myself as a person, as well as look after my mental wellbeing and help others with theirs, which is why I am proud to be a Mental Health First Aider for TD.’
'Through speaking about my autism more with my colleagues at work, I've felt more and more comfortable and supported with my needs. Having hidden it for so long previously, I'm glad to be able to unmask more at Todays Dental and be myself.' 💜
Archie is passionate about raising more awareness around autism, and we will be supporting him in this endeavour (so stay tuned!). His key aims are to help other people who have autism feel that they can open up and know that they're not alone, as well as helping others to understand what autism is and ways to support those with autism. His hope is not only to help create conversations, but encourage others to listen, and enable people to better understand how to support people with their specific needs.
So happy you're in our team Archie!!🤩
Had to share this brilliant set of paintings made by CDT Ian from one of our practices in Shrewsbury, who used Tepes to create the patterns! 🤯🤯
We love seeing teams bring their creativity to the practices - and even better when it can be displayed on walls for everyone to enjoy!!
So much love for this - great work Ian!!💜
🔔Friendly reminder that it is Bank Holiday Monday coming up on 26th August, so don't forget to inform all your lovely patients of your operating hours for the upcoming week. ⏱
✨A beautiful way to spend a Wellbeing Day!✨
Our Practice Support Advisor, Sarah, had a very peaceful day starting off with a leisurely dog walk (not feeling the need to rush it to get back in time for the work day!), and then relaxed at 115 for a fresh new haircut!
And to top it all off, a trip to Knaresborough for a late lunch by the river (and a gorgeous aqueduct!) with friends - and a sneaky bit of shopping!👜
🤩We love hearing about how you spend your wellbeing days, so make sure you get yours booked in!

📷 Campaign! 📷
As you will have heard on our Together Session call, we are looking to take part in World Photography Day this year, using it as an opportunity to capture all the many ways we live our organisational purpose to Improve Lives and Create Smiles.
We’ll be collating photos on 19th August so you have until then to send us your pics either to [email protected] or post on your socials and tag us!
So! Here’s what you need to know to take part. We want to see ways your practices Improve Lives and Create Smiles, in all its senses.
This can be through:
💚 Patient Before & Afters
💜 Moments with your staff
💚 Ways that you’ve gone the extra mile for your patients
💜 Charity events
As it’s a photography day, it would be a good chance to let those nurses who went on the photography course show off their skills, but regardless of equipment, please make sure your photos are clear with good lighting! You can use our photography guide on Sharepoint if you want to make them stand out!
We’re very much looking forward to seeing your submissions!!! Let the photographing commence!
Part of the ✨joy✨ of moving into our new office was being able to make it our own, and our fabulous Projects Manager Chrissy Parkes used this as an opportunity to hold an art competition! 🎨
We have so many creative members in the team and it was so wonderful to see all their colourful submissions - from digital art and photography to handpainted canvases. They're all displayed proudly on our office walls, and it's truly brightened up the space!! 🌞 🌟
However, when it came to judging the competition, Rob Paxman was taken by two submissions that captured unique parts of TD. These submissions came from the daughters of Sarah Smith (Zara - middle) and Ramona Leonte (Alyssia - right).
💚 💜 Zara's captured TD's purpose to Improve Lives and Create Smiles, even paying homage to our canine amigos (and Chief Wellbeing Officers), Archie and Barney; while Alyssia's painting captured a sense of growth from strong roots with a depiction of a tree with leaves in TD colours.
We were so happy that both Alyssia and Zara were able to come to the Resource Hub for their own prize giving ceremony, and they enjoyed being able to meet the Chief Wellbeing Officers in-person 🐶 .
🙏 A huge thank you to everyone for their submissions and helping us make our new office feel like TD, and a special thank you to Chrissy for organising. Plenty of space still left in the office so more art competitions to come we're sure!
✨️HOW IT STARTED vs HOW IT'S GOING - Lisa McKinnon Edition✨️
Looking for inspiration? Look no further than our very own Lisa McKinnon. From dental nurse to soon-to-be COO at TD, let’s take a deep-dive into Lisa’s 35 years of bossing it in dentistry.😎😎
By her own admission, getting into dentistry was a bit of a fluke!
📚“Leaving school with no clear direction, I stumbled into a career in dentistry. As a trainee dental nurse (then known as “dental surgery assistant”) I attended and completed an 18-month evening dental nurse course.
✈️Five years, a marriage, and a move from Scotland to England later, I started as a dental receptionist.”
⏩️⏩️
Following 2 studious years at an evening dental receptionist programme, she was able to confidently apply for a PM role. Here, she could develop in her position while supporting the growth of the 3-surgery practice, which resulted in its successful sale to a leading corporate group.
✨️And so she entered the world of corporate dentistry!✨️
From Area Management, she progressed to Regional Manager, flew solo as dental management consultant, became a business development manager, and eventually took on the role of Operations Manager of a family-run dental group.🦹♀️🦹♀️
Then we did it! 🥳 We brought the legend herself to TD as our Operations Director.💚
“In 2022 I joined TD’s Senior Team to help develop the new group, and I’m currently on the career path to Chief Operations Officer with a group of currently 27 practices and 350+ practice level staff, with HR, Marketing, Plans & Partnerships, and Culture Director reporting into me.
The position is challenging but hugely rewarding. I can bring all the knowledge from previous experiences to help me coach my team to progress themselves and their teams, which is exceptionally satisfying.”
🤯What a career! And she’s still smashing it after 35 years. Lisa, thank you for everything you do for TD. The level of experience you bring is incredible; we are SO glad you took a chance on becoming a dental nurse at 16. Couldn’t imagine doing it without you.🫶🫶
