💚 Look at these cute little baos! They are cheeky chicken baos that disguised as mushrooms!

They are so fun to make, some customers had never made baos before, but they managed to not only learn, but also improve their skill each time they pick up a fresh piece of dough. 🏆

Today's cooking class was almost like coffee mornings, with a bit of cooking and lots of chatting and sharing of our experiences on food culture. Everyone took home with them their yummy creations, and when we were waiting for the baos to be steamed, we made use of the time and made Hot & Sour soup as well. Everyone were amazed with how well the flavour came through even though!

Thank you for showing us the tips to making these baos! Nicola was a dim sum teacher in Hong Kong before she relocated to UK, and now she's bringing her skills and passion into our studio!

🌅 of my freezer/pantry challenge. Today Little Fish & I made dumplings. I found half a cabbage from the fridge & a small piece of pork belly in the freezer, I also found 3 packs of "back up" dumplings wrappers in the freezer 🙈, so it's perfect for making cabbage & pork dumplings! 🥟

I cut up the pork belly in chunks (while they are still half frozen), and used the new chopping guides to find the setting for pork, within seconds I have mince pork! It's so handy!

👨🏻‍🍳🧒🏻Cooking with children isn't always easy but it's something I'm keen to do. I like the togetherness & special bond when we are doing & creating something together!

🌱 Mindful Meal Planning
This Lent I want give myself a goal. Since the pandemic I've developed a habit to accumulate. Whether it's food, ingredients to make more food, craft supplies or toiletries. You name it and I can find a few from my stock piles.

It's ok to prepare for rainy days, but there's a difference between careful planning and careless spending. I'm more like the latter. Therefore I want to challenge myself this Lent, to plan my meals with the intention of reducing the amount of food I accumulated, as well as reducing food waste.

I will still allow myself to buy food, but the rule of thumb is to use what I already have first. 💚

I walked past my vegetable baskets and saw some old & wrinkly veggies... gosh no one wants to eat them and looks like they are just one step from the bin. So, I turn them into yummy soup! It's so tasty and goes really well with my melted cheese croissant!

🍯 Homemade Creamy Vanilla Yogurt~
Little Fish wanted to make his own yogurt, of course it's fine by me!

I've left out the milk powder from the recipe so that it's less thick, you can also adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. That's how much I love homemade cause I can make it however I like it. 💚

I volunteered to bring some cakes to my church's meeting yesterday.

This Plum & Almond Traybake recipe asks for fresh plums, I don't have any but I have some plum jam leftover from when Christmas time. I love improvising as it's a great way to use up what I already have rather than going out to buy more. Most of the time it also means saving money too! I wrapped the whole tray with tea towel and tied it Furoshiki style, carried the whole tray to church. No cling film, no kitchen foil, no waste!

🌯 Did you know that buying takeout lunches can amount to £1000 a year? And that's only lunches for the weekdays! A survey done by moneypenny.com in 2021 found out the average worker in the UK pays out between £15 to £20 a week, and Londoners are the biggest spenders, who spend up to £6.99 on one single lunch! Ouch! It doesn't sound much but it adds up! 💸

🍱 I usually bring my own lunch. Sometimes it's I prepare it in the morning, sometimes it's leftovers from the night before (like today's).

🫂 Bring your own lunch will not only look after your belly, it also look after your wallet too! I also love the feeling that knowing my lunch & snacks are sorted, even though I may have prepared them myself, I still feel I'm being looked after. (Self-love? Heee)

🔥 Homemade Ginger tea
It's a drinkable central heating!

🌬️ After standing in the windy school playground, I came home with a headache. What's better than a nice cup of ginger tea to warm up my hand, my body & my soul?

💰 I've had some good quality ginger tea the comes in sachets (in granules form), very convenient but also lots of packaging. They are not cheap too! So today I got some ginger from the local market, they are only £1 a bowl, and package free! I spent £1 on ginger and I made around 1.2 litre of fresh ginger tea! Big saving and big taste too!

Just trying out my new Thermomix cutter, it's so easy to use and made slicing lots of ingredients really fast. Love it! ❤️

🍲 Low Waste Bone Broth
It's been so damp & cold in London lately and all I crave is a nice bowl of bone broth.

🍖 Bone broth is a good way to rehydrate & replenish nutrients, as it's rich & full of good vitamins, minerals and collage which are good for bone health & gut health!

🌱 It's also a good way to use up vegetables. Every now and then I'll go through the veggie drawer to see what's there to use. In today's broth, I've used tomatoes, potatoes, onions and some carrots & ginger lying around.

Did you know your Thermomix can make bone broth? Traditionally bone broth are boiled slow and low, so some argue that you lose some of the nutrients if it's cooked for too long. With the Thermomix, 30 mins is all you need to make a yummy bowl of broth. All you have to do is throw everything into the mixing bowl, (use a blade cover if you wish) and boil it for 30 mins at 100c, reverse spoon. Taste and season if needed. I like to eat it as it is, so it's like a meal for me. If you prefer to just drink the golden broth, by all means strain it, and cheers!

♻️ If you want to reduce single-use plastic, this is an easy swap: homemade spreadable butter!

🌱 By making this spreadable butter at home, you'll be able to cut down on the plastic tubs that spreadable butter comes in. Blocks of butter comes in lined foil paper, which you can soak and separate to recycle properly.

🧈 Butter is a staple and this spreadable butter consists only butter and oil, no preservatives! I used organic butter and organic grapeseed oil, I measured out equal amount of room temperature butter and oil (mine is 110g each), bliss them in the Thermomix for 20sec at Speed 4.

🍯 When it's finished the butter will look a bit runny, don't worry! Pour it into airtight containers, pop them in the fridge for 1 hour and you'll have nicely spreadable butter that still has the creamy butter taste but has more heart-healthy fats.

🌱 If you don't own a Thermomix, you can totally make it in a food processor or blender, timing and speed may need a little adjusting though!
