𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘁𝗮

A few years ago I had the pleasure of embarking on a fly-drive adventure through South Dakota, and it was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this itinerary that includes stops at Custer State Park, the Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Badlands National Park.

My trip started with a flight into Rapid City Regional Airport, where I picked up my rental car. From there, I headed straight to Custer State Park. The park is simply stunning, with breathtaking views of the Black Hills and a wide range of outdoor activities to enjoy.

The next day, I went on a buffalo safari jeep tour through the backcountry of Custer State Park. Riding in an open-air jeep with an experienced guide was an exhilarating way to explore the park. We were able to see diverse landscapes and wildlife, and our guide shared insightful information about the area's history, geology, and ecology.

I made my way to Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Seeing the faces of four of the most influential US presidents carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore was awe-inspiring. I then visited the Crazy Horse Memorial, just a short drive away. It was incredible to see the massive monument dedicated to the legendary Lakota leader, learn about the history and culture of the Lakota people at the visitor center and museum.

Finally, I ended my trip with a visit to Badlands National Park. The unique landscape of rock formations, canyons, and prairies was breathtaking, and I spent hours exploring the park's many trails and driving the scenic loop road.

Overall, my fly-drive adventure through South Dakota was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I highly recommend this itinerary to anyone looking to explore the natural beauty, rich history, and diverse culture of this amazing state. Just be sure to plan your trip in advance to make the most of your time and enjoy everything South Dakota has to offer.

PASSPORT OFFICE STAFF ANNOUNCE FIVE WEEK STRIKE THAT COULD HIT SUMMER HOLIDAYS

STARTING EARLY APRIL

Over 1,000 workers from the Passport Office in the UK have announced a five week strike as part of a row over pay, jobs and conditions.

Staff who are members of the Public and Communication Services union working at passport offices in Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newport, Peterborough and Southport are walking out from Monday 3rd April to Friday 5th May.

Workers are asking for a 10% pay rise along with job security, changes to pensions and protected redundancy terms.

The union has said the strike action is likely to have a ‘significant impact’ on the delivery of passports ahead of people going away on holiday this summer.

PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka said: “This escalation of our action has come about because, in sharp contrast with other parts of the public sector, ministers have failed to hold any meaningful talks with us, despite two massive strikes and sustained, targeted action lasting 6 months.

“Their approach is further evidence they’re treating their own workforce worse than anyone else.

“They’ve had six months to resolve this dispute but for six months have refused to improve their 2% imposed pay rise, and failed to address our members’ other issues of concern.

“They seem to think if they ignore our members, they’ll go away.

“But how can our members ignore the cost-of-living crisis when 40,000 civil servants are using foodbanks and 45,000 of them are claiming the benefits they administer themselves?

“It is a national scandal and a stain on this government’s reputation that so many of its own workforce are living in poverty.”
