Recently the Stanford Med lab published a study that found brief (5 min per day) structured breathing (aka โ€œbreath workโ€) out performed meditation for improving mood & lowering stress throughout the WHOLE DAY! ๐Ÿคฏ

We are big fans of Box Breathing and have found it extremely effective.

Itโ€™s used by everyone from athletes to U.S. Navy SEALs, police officers, and nurses.

Want to give it a try?

Do this:
1๏ธโƒฃ Sitting upright, slowly exhale through your mouth, getting all the oxygen out of your lungs. Focus on this intention and be conscious of what youโ€™re doing.
2๏ธโƒฃ Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose to the count of four. In this step, count to four very slowly in your head.

Feel the air fill your lungs, one section at a time, until your lungs are completely full and the air moves into your abdomen.
3๏ธโƒฃ Hold your breath for another slow count of four.
4๏ธโƒฃ Exhale through your mouth for the same slow count of four, expelling the air from your lungs and abdomen.

Be conscious of the feeling of the air leaving your lungs.
5๏ธโƒฃ Hold your breath for the same slow count of four before repeating this process.

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY - ๐Ÿ”Ÿ KB BLAST

Give this simple, short, sharp, but effective whole body workout a go today.

All you need is a pair of kettlebells (donโ€™t have kettlebells - you can sub them for some fixed dumbbells instead)

All you need is ๐Ÿ”Ÿ mins to get it done.

HERE IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO:

Min 1 - Perform 10 KB cleans (like in the video)
Min 2 - Perform 10 KB front squats

Keep alternating a set of each Every Minute On the Minute (aka EMOM) for ๐Ÿ”Ÿ mins

So youโ€™ll do 5 sets of each exercise

Your rest between sets is whatever time is left in the minute (I.e. if it takes 25 sec to do the set you have 35 sec left to rest before doing the next set)

โ€ฆIn terms of life events that people remember as the turning point for their weight struggles, having kids seems to be the most common.

Itโ€™s not even necessarily the first child. Sometimes itโ€™s the second or third. This is multi factorial by the way. There are many components to this. Regardless of the underlying cause, I will say that having kids makes everything in life tougher!

Think about this, you now have another human to take care of. Itโ€™s stressful. Making sure they are fed while youโ€™re sleep deprived and irritable. Anyway, I could go into depths of why it becomes tougher, but if youโ€™re a parent youโ€™ll understand.
