Sage and Season
Flowers and Food. The creation of Sage and Season is a personal venture combining these loves.
HAND-TIED BOUQUET WORKSHOP
A bit of a last minute one but we haven’t had nearly enough flower activity this year with all the renovations so thought we’d squeeze in a couple of workshops as the peak British flower season draws to a close.
The courses will be expertly led by Mel (my right hand lady) who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise alongside being an excellent teacher. I’ll be on had to assist you in your creations and provide all the foods and refreshments!
We are offering two sessions, a morning one with 2 course lunch and then one in the afternoon followed by afternoon tea. Saturday 26th October, £85. Link in comments to book. Christmas wreath courses live now too! 🎄

Happy anniversary H&H. The arch before the rains arrived but spirits certainly weren’t dampened on the day and a seriously good celebration was had!
Such a beautiful couple to work with, some images of the marquee to be shared in my stories because it was a corker!

Give a follow to see what we’ve been up to, currently doing and have planned for the future.
It’s been a long year but we are getting there and excited to be able to share this beautiful space.
Life can be brutal. Avoid succumbing to its cruelty, find strength in all its beauty. Seek out the good, the positive, the love, the laughter, the memories and the honesty.
Thank you and for these beauties.
Those who know me will understand how important are to my world. For those that don’t then know that they are my sanity, my security and my happiness. Beyond measure. We have some s**t to deal with over the coming months but it will be done will joy, love and laughter. Life is the cruelest of beasts but be sure that we will be sticking two fingers up at the fu**er because quite frankly, we’ve got this.
Summer has come to a close and gorgeous images from the last few months are hitting the inbox!
It was such a pleasure to work with Kim and Verity. They basically gave us free rein so and I were in our element!
For A and J, what a pleasure.
The job of dreams. A gorgeous brief (midsummer’s day), a stunning location (looking on to Wi******er Hill), the perfect client (trusted to just do my thing), an amazing marquee (bias but it was bloody good!) and most importantly the A team. It couldn’t of happened with out these ladies by my side (and multiple packets of midget gems!) and
As always no floral foam because quite frankly it is horrendous stuff and isn’t necessary!
From the weekend, for friends, that are family, as a thank you.
Blessed to have the pleasure of cooking over fire in such a beautiful space.
For Claire and Amy earlier this month. What a complete joy to flower their special day. We love creating planks as each and every time they’re different in the most beautiful way being bespoke to the couples colour palette and the season.
We went for lots of texture, tone and shape with areas of height and grouping which mirrored the stunning surrounding gardens at the family’s home. Here negative space was key, it helps to define the boundaries of the positive space and brings balance to the arrangements.
As ever thank you to my girls Mel and Cat ❤️❤️❤️
It’s been an afternoon of looking forward and working on 2022 weddings and events but of course you always need to reflect on the past to inspire the future!
This was late September for N and C, the girls and I got our plank on but also had the pleasure of creating a floral divide between the dance and dinning area. It’s a great way to separate the areas but get the joy of them both at the same time.
From Friday. The beautiful Susan.
It was also the first trip back to court for me and for a fair few years too!
Last week was rubbish! We had a premature end to our mini break due to my tooth being infected, which in turn triggered my body to go into fight mode due to the long Covid and now I’m on the fatigue come down from it all!
After a week on the sofa this was the perfect activity to get me moving again and create a birthday gift for my sister-in-law. Some of the last blooms from and an absolute delight.
It’s been a bloody age but I’m menu planning for supper with friends, and as always I look to what’s in season for inspiration. Now is it just me or has there been a seriously poor showing of blackberries this year?! Here is a dark chocolate pot with blackberry curd, pickled and fresh blackberries, toasted hazelnuts and loosely whipped double cream from last year!
“If rain makes the knot tighter then ours is petty tight”, the bride’s own words and the most perfect reflection on Saturday’s amazing couple. Hattie and Harry, thank you both for trusting me to do my thing!
what a fantastic build (I may be biased but it did look bloody good!) and it was nothing but a pleasure to meet and work with you on the day.
Thank you as ever to and you ladies are incredible and I promise to try get my key handling under better control!
It was a complete pleasure from beginning to end working with Nita and Cam. They and their family were so welcoming to myself and the girls and I think their kindness and trust in us was absolutely reflected in their beautiful day. Thank you for sharing these those faces say it all!
Happy 40th birthday to this one! Some of you will recognise Badge as front of house for Sages suppers.
He’s stubborn, argumentative, always right, drinks like a fish, impatient, opinionated and calls a spade a spade………. basically the male version of me!
With this comes the kindest, funniest, most loyal, generous, smartest, formidable and wonderful best friend that anyone could ask for. We make a pretty good team and I’m gutted that I cannot be celebrating with you in France. Love you babes! # # #
Things are looking up, I can now successfully put my socks on without having to sit down to do so (this was genuinely upsetting that I couldn’t!).
I’m definitely getting better but far from fixed. At 37 I could never have imagined what it would be like to have to stop. Stop working, stop cooking, stop creating, stop functioning.
Governed by pain, fatigue and breathlessness I was rendered pretty darn useless in comparison to my previous proficiency!
I’m gutted that I’ve had to put Sages Suppers on hold & am unable to work as a freelance florist, I love these aspects of my life. Presently work is a half day at marquees, any more than that & we have issues! For now my health has to take priority, after all it’s the most valuable thing we can own.
I’ve a handful of my own events this year that I am looking forward to but will need to be getting extra hands in for all the lifting & shifting.
Looking at the positives, which there have been some, this beaut of a tulip I grew has to be one of them.
WARNING, ESSAY.........!!!!
So this was a good day but I certainly paid for it the next & that wasn’t with a hangover! Some already know but I’ve been suffering with long Covid. I got through the summer with mild fatigue but being in events, everything was cancelled & there was nowhere to be so life was pretty easy riding. Come September though the fatigue got worse, October the racing heart & extreme breathlessness arrived. Multiple blood tests & an ECG came back all clear so I trucked on as before. Then the chest & rib pain started, add in brain fog, armpit burn, body twitches, pulsating arms & a dose of chronic fatigue & there we are, no word of a lie, one fu up Wyatt! This has genuinely wiped me off my feet, I’m a pretty robust person, always busy & constantly developing ideas & plans but by Christmas it was game over. Now the bastard of this thing is that it makes its own rules. A handful of goods days can be side swiped by debilitating days that follow & the consequence of an average day pre Covid (like in the picture!) can keep me in bed all the next day. Mentally I have remained strong, pi**ed off at times yes but depressed, no. I realise that others aren’t so fortunate but I count my blessings because although this bu**er has taken over for a bit I still understand & know how lucky & privileged my life is. I’m having acupuncture, seeing an osteopath, been referred to a long Covid clinic, taking a multitude of vitamins and supplements, adapted my diet to provide the best for my microbiome, using pain killers when unbearable & generally doing anything & everything within my grasp to get this s**t sorted. I am under no doubt that with time & the right behaviour & actions I’ll get there, it’s a post viral illness, they were around well before Covid was! The reason for this post? Well as it stands I’m feeling better but certainly not fixed & I’m working hard on understanding my limits. With this in mind it may well be that Sages suppers need to take a sabbatical! Once we are all back up & running I have important flower commitments that will be taking priority & my marquee work too. So please bare with me, I got this and we will be back! Xx
I’ve created a Christmas hamper, all hand crafted, high in calories, packed full of flavour and perfect for sharing with family and friends.
