🎄 Christmas 2023 🎄

Just a quick little post to say THANK You once again to everyone who ordered from me this weekend! Honestly from the bottom of my heart- the support is so very much appreciated! Thank you for allowing me to provide so so many of you with treats for Christmas Day or for Christmas Eve.

Today was by far the busiest Christmas Eve done- I drove for most of the day to just about everywhere in Northern Ireland- (Ballyclare & Ballyholme included- ) delivering milktert- Koeksisters- malva-pudding - cheesecakes & Peppermint crisp- some Vegan and Gluten free treats included too! 🙌

Lastly- I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! I hope that however you celebrate it or wherever you are in the world- that it’s good day for you! I’m hosting & spending the day with my little family - so no real rest yet for me I’m afraid! (Boxing Day maybe 🤞)

⭐️ Ladies Brunch ⭐️

This weekend I had the privilege to be part of another amazing event hosted by the Hosting Queen herself ⭐️

It was a ladies brunch with over 50 people attending. had made individual mini Koeksisters for each attendees Goody Bag- and I also had made a few milktarts for the brunch table. The demand for it was unprecedented- and they did not last long on the table! I know many of you missed out!

If you did miss out and didn’t get to try it today- please do let me know and I can get one made for you this week or even for Christmas (note - booking dates are filling up fast so get in touch sooner!)

Keep an eye out for a Christmas celebration coming your way- and I hear may be planning another one before the year ends.. so if you didn’t get to today’s one I will hopefully see you at the next!

⭐️ Thanksgiving 2023 ⭐️

Hello! It’s taken me nearly the whole day to write this but better late than never - but just wanted to do a quick post to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone around the world! ❤️

I didn’t really grow up celebrating it but as I get older it’s funny how you are so much more Thankful for things around you & in your life!

Thank you to all of you- all around the world - who constantly support me and my little business - and are constantly pushing and encouraging me to go further- do more - and grow! Thank you also for each and every order that has come through so far! It honestly means more than you know!

…So if you celebrate it or not- I hope today you find just that little something to be thankful for ❤️

⭐️ Another order done ⭐️

Last week quite a few orders of Koeksisters & Milk-tarts went out- and one of them was going across the water- all the way to an office based in Manchester! 👏

There seems be quite a new following of people all across Northern Ireland (& the rest of UK) all wanting South African treats & bakes… which I am super thankful for!

I am now looking into how to post some things across the UK to help keep delivery costs down- & to expand to those areas which do miss out- so please bear with me while I work it all out 😊 I just want to make sure it definitely gets to you in near perfect condition.

I also finally got around to ordering thank you cards from - this will definitely save me from writing all your messages on the boxes ⭐️

🏉Final Rugby Weekend 🏉

Well… what a weekend that was! It was by far one of the busiest - & one that has so many mixed feelings!

Firstly I want to say a massive Thank you to each and every order that came through! ❤️ Thank you also to those who bought things at (& partied it out) at Carrickfergus Bowling Club this weekend with the Final! 🇿🇦
It was such an incredible atmosphere— & honestly the best end to all the previous events that have been held there!

I’m still finding it hard to believe that over the course of a few days that all this went out-
* 50 Milktarts went out (both mini and large) &
*60 Koeksisters &
*35 large and mini cheesecakes &
*20 mini peppermint crisps!
I know right - I still don’t know how I ended up doing it! I will be honest at one point I didn’t see it happening! 🙃

There is already a few orders booked for this week- some going out today- so let me know if you want to be added to the list 📖

And keep an eye out- I heard through the grapevine that there are some more events planned before Christmas- so if you havnt been to any of them then maybe these may be for you … ⭐️

🍓 New November Cheesecake 🍓

Hello! It’s been a while but I thought I would pop on & do a post again. Things have been a bit busy behind the scenes so trying to get back into all things business. I’m slowly working my way through all the admin & messages. 😊

Been working on a new flavour cheesecake to have running for November- it has a flavour to it which is working well with the and the .

It is flavoured with a South African Strawberry liquor called - & is definitely more creamy and luxurious.
I made one for a dinner party yesterday & there was not a crumb left on the plate. Even those who normally don’t like alcohol or liquor enjoyed it.

We definitely coming into the colder season now- & this cheesecake may be perfect for your next get together or for those festive events coming up.

If you havnt tried one of my cheesecakes- maybe this is the one! Will hoped have a vegan or gluten\dairy free one too very soon! 🍓🤞please do let me know your thoughts!

Koeksisters completely sold out- - and only a handful of milktarts from the 50 total I took came home with me. (I will be enjoying over a coffee tomorrow for Braai day!) 😊

Well here it is- I finally found a moment to upload this. I think if I’m being completely honest I was slightly putting it off too.

I have decided to just focus on a much smaller limited menu- focusing on just the items I know I do well & the items that are clearly loved by you and wanted by you.

I know it has had quite the cut- and maybe in time I may extend the menu again or do special requests- but for now this is it. 😊

As always, I’m so so appreciative of your support and understanding- & of all the messages & feedback I have got so far. ❤️ Thank you ❤️

Hi everyone! I can’t believe another week has gone already and I’m not really sure how?!

I have not forgotten- and I know I’m due to share the new menu with you this weekend ( I just did not get chance to do it this past week- apologies!)

I will also be at the Carrickfergus Bowling Club tomorrow- with some more delicious treats. If you were there last week- I will be back again with another freshly baked and made batch of Koeksisters for you to enjoy before/during or even after the game. 🔻Important Update 🔻

So after much deliberation& reflecting I have sadly made an important decision to completely stop doing Short_sweet_ni for a while.

There are just a variety of factors and reasons for this- but the main one is really the fact that I have lost my baking mojo and spark quite a bit. Just with a everything going on in my life lately it has sort of left me.

I just need to take a step back & some time out for me- for my own mental health - and just to work life and things out again. I have even taken up running (which if you know me- is really not something I would have normally done!)

I don’t know when and if I will be back. But I hope that with forming some new good habits, and with reorganising and readjusting my life- I will be back stronger and better again very soon! And hopefully with a renewed sense of baking mojo and desire. 🤞

I thank you all once again for all the continued support and encouragement - & fully hope you can all understand ❤️

🔻Cheesecake of the month 🔻

Hello! After what felt like forever- cheesecake of the month (& me) are hopefully finally fully back to this! 🤞

For the month of June- we have an👆“Amarula Creme Cheesecake” 👆
For those who may not know what is - it’s a South African liquor made from the Amarula fruit. These fruit are sun- ripened which then brings out the distinct taste of caramel & vanilla- giving it a smooth & rich texture.

Some people drink it as is- or over ice- but I think incorporating it into a cheesecake really perfects the creamy texture and taste of it! And it just pairs so well together ☺️

This cheesecake is also topped with an infused Amarula cream - and shavings of dark chocolate just to finish it off. Honestly if you havnt tried it - you really should!

Plus- if you are or or even - there is a cheesecake that can be made for you too! You can be sure I am not going to let you miss out on this one 🤞

For those of you who have just joined my page recently; or have just discovered me or treats or bakes- a massive hello! 🖐

My name is Michelle- and I am the proud mum- & the sole owner, maker, baker, creator, and person behind all these things!

I am a self taught baker who is constantly learning as I go along- making a variety of sweet treats and bakes- all from my little home kitchen.

I especially are inspired by my background- & making or allergy or intolerant friendly treats.

I am also always willing to try new recipes or ideas- so aren’t limited to set things or a completely fixed menu or recipes. Each bake; order and occasion is always different- & I tailor each order to its needs.

I hope that if you have tried my treats and bakes you like them- and if you haven’t please do give them a try! ☺️

Just thought I would post a little update on availability & bookings for this month (April) & next month (May)
I will be closing up for a few days in May- just to facilitate a massive house move & change which (touch wood please!!) is finally happening! (If anyone says selling & buying is fun…it’s really not!) 🙌

So… (I hope this makes sense):

🚪 8-17 May 2023 CLOSED. {Orders can still be sent through via Pm, text or calls during this time for collecting or delivery from 18th May only }

weekend is only just a few days away & in sure most (if not all of you) will have some form of family or friends gathering happening.☺️

And…If you were asked to bring dessert or something sweet to this -then Why not bring a creamy, delicious, homemade or cheesecake -instead of your usual supermarket brand?! 👋

They come in two sizes- mini (perfect for 1-2) or in larger sizes (for 6-10 people)- always depending on how you share it!

And…If someone you know coming is or or even - Don’t worry!-
I even have a Mini Egg cheesecake for them too! Trust me- it tastes absolutely devine …& no one will know or taste any difference! 🙌

🐣 Easter 2023 🐣

Well would you look at that- just like that we are here already and in a just over a week- Easter is here! 🙌

So… if you still looking for something for sharing with friends or family- or if you just want something to indulge in on your own- then maybe one of these treats can help!

The Mini Egg cheesecake is back- available in the original recipe or in the sold out Vegan option from last year! If you missed out on trying this cheesecake- then you really should give it a try! will be the first to tell you how much she LOVES it! ☺️

And if you a Creme Egg fan- then there is a cheesecake for you too. Both of these can come in a mini size or in a larger size to share.

Carrot cake is a maybe another option for you- the mini size is a carrot and raisen loaf- and the larger one has walnuts inside. (But if you have a nut allergy let me know and I will happily amend this!) ☺️
I can also make this in a Vegan or other allergy friendly version too- so do let me know!

🍰 Baby Reveal Cake 🍰

Today I had not one, but two baby reveal cakes go out. This was delivered early this morning for a family & friends get-together this afternoon- to help reveal to them the beautiful gender of their first grandchild 🙌

The first one was a semi naked Victoria Sponge with Raspberry & Cream filling; & the second was done in an array of arty shades of blues. This one had a flavour of a Mississippi Mud Cake with a creamy chocolate filling. They were both then decorated with different shades of blue roses-& of course baby’s breathe!

It was so lovely to play a part of this special time- & I do wish the customer & their family all the best for the rest of the pregnancy- ❤️

💒 Wedding Cake 💒

I was so excited and honoured to be able to do a wedding cake for the lovely couple Ash & Tim this week!

They got married in a very intimate setting with family & friends; and wanted a simple wedding cake that was very similar to the last one I did for a small wedding.

She wanted the flavours of “Raspberry & Lemon” — so I made them a two tiered fresh Raspberry filled sponge - with a lemon & raspberry filling- & iced in a simple vanilla buttercream. It was also then decorated in simple elegant flowers 🎂

The cake went down really well & the couple just absolutely loved it! 🙌

💐 Mothersday 💐

Wow- what a weekend that was! Just thought I would pop on and THANK each and every person who ordered things from me!
I didn’t end up taking photos of all the ones I sent out (was just so busy!) - but thought I would share some of the ones I did get!
There was honestly such a great selection of things that went out- from endless Koeksisters; quite a few Milktarts; Large Pies (both sweet & savoury); and so many Sweet Afternoon tea boxes.

One of these boxes contained Fudge; Brownie; Fifteens; milk tart; Victoria Sponge; Cheesecake; scones AND was completely dairy- egg- gluten & soya free! 🙌 } I know right!

☘️ Cheesecake of the month…(well what should have been !?) ☘️

This “Guinness & Chocolate”cheesecake almost feels like I doesn’t want to be released. I had planned earlier this week to release it here (but then life happened!) & then wanted to do it this earlier today( but just didn’t get time with endless Mother’s Day orders!) … so then decided to try one last time I just before bed..

…And then THIS happened… yes this is definitely not how it should be presented, but this is what it (the now named “drunken cake”) decided to do upon me releasing it the pan?!
I’m baffled, cause believe it or not- this was set absolutely beautifully; tasted Devine & just needed a few final touches before showing you all- so I am well and truly guttered that this is how it decided to turn out today!

I will make another one in the next few days to show you how it will REALLY look- but if you did want to still order a cheesecake (this new monthly one or any other flavour) just send me a little message!

❤️ Mothers-day treats ❤️

Hello all! I’m still here - just been a little MIA . I feel like this year is moving so fast already- between severe jetlag, sick season in our house & packing (& unpacking boxes)… & finding things that I shouldn’t have packed away already- it just feels like it’s flying by! (It can’t just be me right!)

I am going to admit here and now that I’m struggling to keep up- I honestly had all these wonderful and insanely beautiful treats planned for you all for Mothers- day- … but with all that is going on in my life I’m just not able to! (Here’s for being totally honest to you!) 😵

So …. instead on adding more stress and pressure to do a “special box” like all other bakers are doing- I’m just going to do what I know I can do.
My lovely mum in that picture taught me to sometimes you need to bring it all back to basics & focus on things you know you can do. Things I know I can make for you. Things that I always will believe are delicious, and tasty- & that I’m sure you mum will love. Things that I know I have perfected & things that I know some of you love already 🤞

Over the next few days I will post some of the beautiful treats and sweet treats on here and on my Instagram & Facebook stories .. & if you see something your mum will love - please just send me a little message so I can book you in. ❤️ I would love to be able to make your mums day special for her! ❤️

Lastly… I am fully onto Easter don’t you worry- the Vegan Mini eggs have already been ordered- so the very popular Cheesecake that sold out will be back for sure! 🐣>
