Week 5 of the IMTA international mindfulness teachers association accredited- wow that’s a mouth full isn’t it ! Zen mindfulness and Meditation course. Role stress and Time pressure .
We can become imprisoned in particular roles and sometimes the relationship or identification to them can cause us stress.
We are much much more than our roles and the masks we wear .

week 4 of the IMTA - International Mindfulness Teachers Association - accredited meditation and mindfulness course - what’s it’s about? Emotional stress, anxiety and depression

25/08/2024

Lucid dreaming, capoeira workshops , noah and i watched it last year in glastonbury but this time we were leaning how to do it ! How to deal with difficult people, yoga, qi gong, wing chun, star gazing with an astrophysicist and 1-1 chat time with zen master daizan skinner roshi.

Now this is what bank holiday weekends are made of!! And my son Noah provided some evening musical entertainment around the fire.

Taking part in some of these workshops is a requirement of being a meditation and mindfulness teacher with zenways - their CPD requirements - doesn’t get much better than this!

Our bones are crystalline and our collagen are semiconductors. Our blood carries an electrical charge and all of this results in the body having a magnetic field. Science now calls this the biofield others call it the aura.

How do we help to create a strong biofield/aura? Amongst many things including nutrition, reike , qigong, mindfulness and sound therapy.
So how do we achieve this with sound? Through sympathetic resonance and entrainment with acoustic sound/phonon energy- pure energy that’s doesn’t carry its own electric magnetic field.

Using instruments to produce musical intervals in accordance with the pythagorean scale - which are based on universal laws and hermetic principles or one pure frequency in isolation.
Entrainment occurs when two oscillating bodies lock into phase to vibrate in harmony together and become synchronized.

Creating a healthier biofield coherence can, in turn, facilitate improved physical, mental, and emotional function.

Following on from my previous post about we should be aiming to reconnect to the earths natural frequency - We are bio electrical beings in an electrical universe . We need to ground to have electrical stability within the body and to keep the immune system system functioning well. So by getting your shoes off and connecting to the earth we are taking in its negative charge.
So much research about how even after 20
minutes inflammation in the body is reduced. Inflammation is responsible for a plethora of illness and pain.

Entrain the body to the natural electrical charge of the earth - Get those rubber soles OFF and get your feet on the ground .

I’ll leave you to put it into google and read about the amazing health benefits this simple practice will bring to your life. Sand or soil will do and if you can lie your whole body down that’s even more powerful!

No words needed from me with this one is there

Day 1 of road trip - Stonehenge has been said to have its own sound and very new geometry research published within the last few weeks states that the alter stone has a resonant frequency of 7.815 hz, which is very similar to the schumann resonance/ the earths natural heartbeat/vibration - at 7.83 hz . Integrated sound healing foundations are based on the principle of entraining the body’s frequency back to that of the earth. This also fits with pythagoras and his harmonic spectrum of frequencies and notes which is what i’ve been trained in and use with my clients . Achieving different outcomes with different octaves of the earths vibration.
Another interesting point to make is that pythagoras learnt this from the egyptians . There was reference today about the egyptians and how they moved rocks for the pyramids- no mention of sound and frequency though 🤔
More research coming out says the site dates back to 10000 years to the time to Gobekli Tepe in turkey! For those that watched ancient civilisations you’ll know what i mean !!!!
Wow we have just been to visit an ancient sonic healing temple and both agreed how energised we both felt when leaving the site 💚💚🙏

Week 3 done and we are having a break as i am off on a road trip involving; sand , surf and yoga.
Each week i open with how people have got on with their daily home practice and people share their experiences should they wish to . I wanted to share something that lorraine from my darwen group said - she said “During the meditation practices I have been getting feelings of gratitude. Thankfulness for my body , my health, my family , friends . The life I have . The ability to choose what I eat , how I spend my time , what I give energy to .
It's very unexpected. It's having and effect on my day as my view on the day is changing. I am feeling happier and more content . Thank you so much “
How beautiful is it to share these insights !

Also it’s re confirming when you receive texts like this - this is from steph in my blackburn group 💚

I too am feeling incredibly grateful that i have had the opportunity to learn this and now teach it. Life is truly wonderful should we choose to see it that way 🙏

How can a meditation practice help to work with pain?
We talk about tuning in and out and limiting the mental commentary- our words hold so much power - it’s not called spelling for no reason 🤗

How by creating the space to relax the body and mind we create less tension and so blood flow can continue to help with a healing process.

How posture not just in our formal meditation practice time is so important too; activating the parasympathetic nervous system, offset of gravity to help ease muscle tension and sluggish posture =sluggish mind.

Week 2 stress ctd.. More about the 8 weeks Zen meditation and mindfulness course i am teaching in lancashire with varying groups. As always we cover this topic , we do some movement - sometimes Qi gong and sometimes just some simple breathing exercises, followed by a guided meditation- this week is still the body scan. We are re connecting back to the body so we can identify stress faster and become less reactive by using the body as a messenger. Participatants then have their daily guided meditation to build on the precious week.
As i am a trainee teacher still i am currently not charging- i am building my experience ready to relaunch my offering next year.

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. “ Nikola Tesla
Through cultivating a mindfulness and mediation practice we become more aware of our thought patterns and the effect these have on our internal and external worlds.
We can then start to work with our emotions better. We become to realise that we have been on autopilot for most of our lives and have become a slave to these emotions often creating undesirable life outcomes. Once we realise this the game is on!

Theres 3 parts to an emotion-
1- The mental happening- The story/narrative
2- The physical reaction in the body
3- Which then creates the mood / frequency and vibration

We can become master or the captain of our ship and stop letting outside forces pull you around and dragging you into outcomes that were never meant for you. Think of all the negativity right now- really dense, dark and low vibrational energy of fear, anger and hate. Again I am not denying the awfulness of it all but we don’t need to let this consume us.

After all – we are just energy and through the laws of entrainment if we are not aware we can lock in with this energy and so it gets bigger and bigger.

Think s**t= get s**t. Like Velcro

We need to break the energy up through creating dissonance- the opposite of these low vibrational energies are love, kindness, acceptance and compassion. This isn’t hippie stuff this is real science and the TIME is NOW for people to start looking at things from a different paradigm.

We are energy and that is all. We are so lucky too that we have ancient and hidden knowledge that is now being shared for us to get through these challenges we now face.

When I decided to train as a sound therapist back in 2021 initially it was because I knew from experience how good it was for health and I wanted to share what I had experienced- life changing stuff. That’s why I called myself Health Through Sound. At the time i was going through some pretty heavy stuff myself that threw me 100 mph out of my comfort zone and looking back kept me in a low vibrational energy of fear for well over 12 months. Looking back i was completely immobilized- but i carried on going with it all- it took me about 14 months of full time study to complete my diploma.

Now as the world seems more and more mental I know this energetic medicine is much much more than important on an individual level. This has been a long post but im past caring about what I should and shouldn’t do- so there
If you’ve got this far thanks- I hope you resonate with it – if not and you think im mad that’s ok too.

What im saying is how we think is what we become, and what we become on an individual level is what we become as a collective through the laws of entrainment - true story

That’s enough for now

How you feel is a choice. It starts with your thoughts and your conscious intention to change how you feel by changing your thoughts. This is how create our world which then ripples outwards.

Adopting a mindfulness and meditation practice gives you the space to observe your thoughts- the more you do this the more you will see patterns and themes.
This gives you the opportunity to take back your power and change your thoughts- this changes how you feel- this then changes your mood/energy.

That saying "We are what we eat" is exactly the same as " We are what we think" and one of my favourites where the light bulb really went on for me was "s**t sticks"

06/08/2024

Very big topic this week and so i’m splitting it between 2 videos.
What is stress, what’s going on in the body and how we can work with it to avoid illness

01/08/2024

Here’s me talking about what we cover in week 1 of the Zen meditation and mindfulness course .
Orientation week and getting to know each other . That’s why i try and cap the numbers to 10 as it gives everyone the opportunity to get involved in the conversation should they wish. I feel really lucky that i get to do this and meet some wonderful people - i’m looking forward to the next 2 months 🙏

So today was day 1 of delivering 3 of my courses this week. I was at Healthier Heroes CIC this morning and later on at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust . Great conversations and explorations of intentions and boom 💥 😂🙃thank you mr parking ticket person. Apart from that slight irritant it was a good day. I will
post more about it tomorrow or friday 🙏

26/07/2024

Been told i need to do videos - is that the correct terminology?!
Anyway here’s the first in a series i will be doing talking about the courses i am starting to deliver. They are all full now but i will be doing more in a couple of months - any questions please just ask.
One question last week was “ is that zen stuff where you all just sit looking at the wall ?” the answer to that question is - “by all means you can sit looking at the wall - but we will be doing much much more than that in Blackburn, Darwen and Burnley “

22/07/2024

So many cultures, spiritual texts and enlightened beings have all told us we are indeed a product of our minds.

Hence we must be careful of our thoughts and take the opportunity for self inquiry by taking time out to observe ourselves and the mind.

Through the laws of resonance we get back what we are putting out. Think s**t thoughts- get s**t back your way. Its that simple.

BUT unless you take the time to observe, you are on the merry go round of life- eat, sleep, work and repeat. " BUT i have no time to look at my thoughts!!!! Ive got to pay the mortgage, sort the tea, manage the kids, go to the gym and if im lucky get some me time by going socialising with friends. I dont have time to sit with myself in silence and observe. "
This was me for years- in the rat race, unwilling to look at me because be be honest i didnt like it and at times it hurt too much. So instead i drank alcohol and took a pill from the doctor to make those thoughts go away. The thing is- its energy and its being stuffed down -its not going anywhere and like a magnet it just attracts more of the same.

Start today and give the universe the message that you now know you are worth it- it all starts with self acceptance and love.
Start by taking the time to observe yourself through starting a practice of mindfulness and a meditation practice. Its not about blocking anything out - let it come, be patient and start to see ways in which your reality changes through this simple way of being.

Yesterday's workshop involved me talking about what is covered in the 8 week course that i am about to start delivering and where mindfulness practice and meditation came from. I talked about the origins of Zen and briefly about a famous guy commonly known as the Buddha- this is to set the scene and give people some grounding and maybe they might want to go off and read about it themselves.

I just want to make it clear that this course is not about religion. It is a secular programme and is purely aimed at improving health and wellbeing.
What is also great about learning zen practices is that is gives you the knowledge that deep down we all know - we have just forgotten.
Becoming more conscious and paying attention to what is real helps us to remember just how powerful we are. In Zen, we are training ourselves not to give our power/attention away to distractions, noise and external deities. YOU and you alone are in charge- YOU are the boss.

17/07/2024

Today i am starting some awareness workshops about the 8 week Zen Meditation and Mindfulness programmes i am about to start in my home town of Blackburn and Darwen. I will be talking through what to expect from the course, more about who put it together and the results you can expect from attending and putting in the work at home. Julian Daizan Skinner is the founder of Zenways - he is the first English man to become a Roshi/Zen master in the Rinzai school of Zen and he is now my teacher.
Each week a different topic is discussed including stress, pain, emotional pain, anxiety and depression. We also experience some Qi gong in the form of what is called the 8 brocades, a guided meditation and each week you will be given a different guided meditation to do at home. These are zen meditation practices including the body scan, counting the breath, following the breath and the practice of presence.
As i am still a trainee teacher i am not charging for these programmes- they are a gift from me whilst i build my experience. I hope to reach as many people and groups as possible because this programme is life changing for many.
As you can see on the photo each participants experience is evaluated - the University of Oxford work in partnership with Zenways and have developed a before and after questionnaire based on quality of life and stress. These results have been collated for nearly 10 years and are incredible. One of my participants from my last course was on long term sick when she came on the course- she returned to work after the course and credited some of that ability to return to work to the course and the insight she gained from it.

13/07/2024

I will be delivering a programme of Zen Meditation and Mindfulness in Darwen starting on the 19th July. I am a trainee teacher at the Zen School called Zenways and i am now qualified to deliver their accredited Mindfulness course which is very similar to the John Kabat Zin Mindfulness stress reduction course. Ours is just more grounded in the Zen tradition along with mindful movement.
Each week we will cover a different topic including; stress, pain, emotional pain, anxiety, depression and developing improved self care. Every week there will also be a guided meditation which will be 4 different forms of zen meditation and some weeks will also include some Qi Gong. Each week you are given a different guided meditation link to listen to at home.

The first 4 weeks will be for you to get a feeling of what its all about before committing for the 8 weeks along with a daily 25 minutes practice at home. Places are limited to 10- so booking is essential.

The is no cost for this as i have formed a group here in Darwen called Re connection and we have accessed funding from the Roots Community to be able to deliver this.

Contact me for more information. Thank you. Dawn 🙏

09/07/2024

Week 8 Changing your life
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The benefits of meditation are well documented but the effects vary according to the practitioners engagement and deepen with commitment and length of practice. An occasional meditator may resort to meditation in times of stress and the regular will be building a level of stress resistance that the occasional person will not have. With time the meditative state will flow over into daily life and consistent practice will start to give insights about life and our role in it.

The class reflected on their learnings and insights
“In my early recovery days I used to hear a lot – Keep in your own lane. Stay out of other people’s business. Ive only just realised what that truly means- I think this 8 weeks has taught me that. Its literally NONE OF MY BUSINESS!!! I used to love knowing what other people were up to- these last 8 weeks ive just become less nosey”

There was a consensus of feeling more loving and open hearted. “But it starts with your self and then ripples out. Im dropping my expectations of others, my relationships are improving”

“Ive cried a lot in my meditations”
“Moving forwards im not stopping this. I cant. Im frightened to lose what ive gained. Whatever is going on im just 30 minutes from being calm. That’s much better than waiting for a doctors appointment, for tablets and then to wait another 3-4 weeks for them to kick in- and sometimes they don’t work”

These posts that I have shared here are actual conversations that took place over a 2 months period. For my teacher training each class had to be filmed as part of my course and then I would watch back and reflect on each week. The quotes are real and I feel really blessed that I had a great bunch of people dedicate 8 weeks towards this.

Now moving on I will be delivering this to other groups across Lancashire.

22/06/2024

Week 7 Elevated Function
What does this mean? Operating as a human above the “norm”
On our check in to see how the week of home meditation had gone one of the participants shared that she tried something different at work. “I had a head ache – normally I would just reach for a tablet. This time I became aware and took myself off to the toilet. I just tuned into it- with all my being. To my shock it went”
Another participant said that he is now getting up earlier to do his 25 minutes each morning. It sets the tone for the day. He said he had also noticed that as he is rushing around to get things done, he id checking him self and asking “Do I really need to do this right now?” Hes also making decisions more easily.
This course is about adopting a mindfulness and mediation practice into your life to improve your health and overall well being. There is no doubt that by implementing the practice along with a daily commitment, life seems to improve. HOWEVER to continue on an upward trajectory one needs to continue and not just stop because when you came you felt your life was a bit crap and like magic you now feel better! We referred back to week 1 when we talked about habit formation and that a habit is something that becomes weirder not to do!
A general consensus was how they now had more of a grounded feeling in their life and more joy.
“I was totally obsessed with everybody else’s health; my kids, parents and mine. My reactions were off the wall, I had blood pressure issues, insomnia and my eating habits were horrific. I was off sick from work and that never happens. I now feel calmer, my relationships have improved with my family. I feel like I’ve found me again an my body. Its all a load of bo****ks really because nothing has really changed. Everyone is still doing their thing, it’s me that’s changed and how I see them. I have returned to work and people have commented that I am like a different person. I am going to miss coming here. My partner is going to miss me coming here! I think ultimately, I have forgiven myself”

So now we want to move above parr. I asked everyone to choose an area of their life that they want to improve. They choose relationships, becoming less judgemental, becoming more of an observer…
“There was an incident at work with a new colleague. Previously I would have reacted negatively- like with like. My previous way of thinking was giving off bad vibes – and that puts me below parr. This time I stopped, took some time and responded differently. It felt good.”

I asked everyone to write down their intention in their journals. I asked them to visualise it, engage every sense and send the feeling to the ether.

As per every week we then did our mindful movement in the form of the 8 brocades and a guided meditation- the practice of presence.

21/06/2024

Week 6 Taking care of yourself

“Your life is a creation of your mind” Buddha

2 weeks are left of my first course that i delivered at Albion Mill in Blackburn. This is some of what we covered.

Mindfulness & meditation helps us to develop awareness and resilience so we can cope better with life. We start to see more clearly- things that deplete us and things that nourish us and the more self aware we become the quicker we can see these things.

The participants shared their experiences over the week. “I feel like im getting more realisations, like more clarity to things that were difficult to think about before. Before these things were overloading me but I haven’t felt like that this week”
“Ive only just noticed how many different types of trees there are! As im becoming more mindful each day yes as I was walking the other day I spotted how different each tree was!”

We talked about the positive use of our meditation dairies. So after each home practice we spend up to 5 minutes writing in our diaries. It’s just a place to dump thoughts that may have come up- anything really. If you then go on to read the diary it can help to identify re occurring thoughts. Without this intentional time out with awareness, we often wont spot patterns of thinking.

“Time is like flowing water, never comes back. The same is true for life. That is why today and now are so important. What is important is how one lives now” this is from the book Zen Heart written by Hozumi Gensho Roshi who was one of Diazan Skinner Roshi’s teachers, who wrote this course and is my teacher!

We talked about expanding our mindfulness practice into daily life and how we can do that such as some mindful walking or other movement practice.
At this point a participant added “Bringing mindful awareness to our conversations with people. It’s an act of love. Really being present for that person. Especially a child. Showing them what it is to be fully present. Its love” We all agreed that even with the best intentions sometimes its difficult and that it’s a learnt skill and takes practice.
In a wider context looking at our life overall such as the people we spend time with and how we show up for others. Making time to forgive, for keeping grudges is so bad on many levels and harmful to ourselves. Also making time for gratitude – every day if possible! Singing, smiling, laughter and dance- with yourself or with others! More expressions and generators of joy moving forwards!

“Don’t worry about what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive” Robert Thurman
