Virtual home safety visit.
This service will be done via video. Our OT will have a virtual tour around your house and suggest ways you can make your environment safer and thus enable you to live independently for longer.
Home organisation and declutter
A cluttered and unorganised home can have a negative impact on how we live our lives. With the support from our OT, we can help you focus on what is important to prioritise tasks and develop a plan with you to lead a more streamlined life.
Get in contact via this page for more details.
I’m developing a range of visual prompts that can be used around the house to prompt independence.
These stickers are 11x11cm and come in a wipeable glossy print.
Also planning “wear your pendant alarm” and “use your Walker” visual prompts.
That can be posted in uk.
Total cost for UK postage £2.
They can be made in different sizes
Clutter, hoard, no organisation can have a huge impact on how we live our lives. Often people have lived in chaotic situations for a long time and need help to sort them selves out.
Our occupational therapist at Independent Ageing (Independent Futures) can help you with this process.
It’s so think about what you can do to increase your wellbeing. Try not to focus solely on one think like weight management, but think about your environment, physical and mental health. Take small steps that make small improvements and build them into your daily life. When you can keep up your new habit add in another small goal.
If you care for someone else or yourself take some time over the weekend for some self care.

Independent Ageing Giveaway
Just some of the symptoms of menopause.
Menopause has been a hot topic for us today.
Around the age of 45 (different for every woman) our natural oestrogen levels drop. This is called peri menopause and has many symptoms - brain fog, weight gain, hot flushes, fatigue are only a small number of the symptoms that are experienced.
Occupational therapy can help to naturally manage the symptoms. Send me a message if you’d like more information, you don’t have to manage on your own.
On Remembrance Day, I am thinking about all those that have given their lives to save ours and especiallythinking about the Occupational Therapists who have supported service personnel and their families as a result of conflict. 💚
Today I’m supporting a lady today who has just come out is hospital. Together we will look at her environment and come up with ideas to help make her home safer for her. We will use the kitchen, bathroom, stairs, doorways and identify if any equipment is needed.
The whole process will help her stay in her own home independently.
Is this a service that would benefit someone you know?

The clocks have gone back and the weather is cold. Now is a good time to make a winter plan in case you cannot go out either because of illness or bad weather.
Here are a few things to think about
- make a list of emergency contacts (GP, family, plumber etc)
- who can get your medication ?
- who can get your shopping?
- have you got enough fuel?
- can you get to appointments?
I’m sure you can come up with others. List them below and share the post so that others benefit.
