STAFF PET COLLAGE

Here's a little collie collage of some of our staff pets here at Lamond. We have 3 staff members who all own more than one collie ❤️🐾

Post your cute pet photos below

This is a photo of a flea under a microscope which one of our nurses took. Fleas are very small, wingless, brown-coloured parasites that bite skin and suck blood to survive. But fleas can also bite you. While they won't live on your body, you can still experience potential side effects. A flea can jump up to 13 inches, so it's possible a pet or other animal can transfer them to you.
They also inhabit upholstery, furniture, and other common household furnishings, especially where they can stay warm however, they are more likely to inhabit your pets bed than yours.
At Lamond Vets we offer a Pet Health Club that gives you year round treatment for fleas. Follow the link below to find out more about our Pet Health Club.

HEAT STROKE

As the summer months are approaching, it's important to keep your animals cool during the hot weather. Keep your animals in a cool shaded area away from direct sunlight and provide plenty of water and cooling devices.

Please ensure you DO NOT exercise your dogs above 20 C.

Did you know that animals sweat through their paws which are very sensitive to heat.

Dogs who are Brachycephalic breeds with short nasal cavities and small nostrils, should be especially careful in these conditions.

Top tips for cooling your pets;
Paddling pool
Cool matt
Cold bandana
Plenty of cold water to drink
Cooling toys
Freeze water bowls
Electric fans

Little Leo came in to see about a cough he had. A little TLC from the vet and it looks like he’s in good hands now 🐾

This handsome fellow is Tam who is one of our receptionist’s, Jacqui’s, cat. He has been in and out of the vet’s for months with different urinary issues. He’s suffered from a blocked bladder on a couple of occasions which can be quite serious in a male cat. His kidney levels were off the charts and so our vets had to operate and removed a blood clot from inside his bladder – it looked like a slug when it was removed! He is now enjoying a special diet to prevent crystals forming in his bladder and is back to his old ways and keeping Jacqui on her toes.
