Set within natural woodland on our Northumberland farm, we have four individual luxury Shepherd’s Huts with relaxation and well-being at its heart, Hillside Huts & Cabins is the perfect retreat destination for you.
A bed for two, with a very fine view, and you could wake up here too!
(Heinous rhyming - we can’t apologise enough).
Anyway, we’ve got limited availability next month in some of our huts, so now’s the time to book a wee autumn getaway!
Head to our site to find out more..
Squeezing out that last bit of outdoor living before the weekend’s over ✨
Squeezing out that last bit of outdoor living before the weekend’s done ✨
We’re loving that shoulder season light today.
Our huts are built from locally sourced timber and the late summer light brings up all the textures and features of the grain.
Built to last and with as little impact on the environment as possible. Nature within. Nature without 🪵🌲
Weekend horizons ❤️
Everyone knows that we have unreal beaches up here (and if you didn’t - now you do), but we’ve got some canny islands knocking about as well!
The Farne Islands are one of Northumberland’s must-sees.
You can get up good and close to them too if you take boat trip from the coastal village of Seahouses.
Cosy vibes and rosy skies.
Joe’s Place is one of our smaller huts, but it ain’t short on character!
Outdoor hot tub, outdoor shower (and an indoor one if that’s more your thing), views across a wild flower meadow and an ultra comfy bed that points right towards sunrise.
We’d live in it ourselves if we could, but that would be pretty unfair on our guests..
Evenings on the coast.
We love this time of year in Northumberland. The evenings are still long enough to enjoy, but you can feel the season changing.
The light is a little less sharp, the sea a little more grey, and the beaches a lot more quiet.
It’s the perfect time to immerse yourself in the county as the crowds thin down.
You can book a stay with us and experience it for yourself ✨
A place built for calm and tranquility.
Take time to soak in it.
Take time to soak it in.
Where did your weekend take you?
Some of the best mountain biking in north east England is literally within sight of Hillside.
This is one of our favourite climbs in the county at the mighty Thrunton Woods. It’d probably be a bit more fun on an E-MTB though tbh..
Engage Sunday Morning mode.
Saba’s Hut’s raised double bed comes complete with a skylight for star (or cloud) gazing and a perfectly situated bedside window good old regular gazing.
Lazy morning locations don’t get much better!
Coastal coffee culture.
If there’s one thing we can recommend that you do in Northumberland, it’s check out some of the local coffee.
is a favourite of ours, and a short drive from Hillside.
Locally roasted coffee, glorious sourdough and pastries, baristas capable of pleasing but not overly twee latte art. It’s got it all.
So demure.
Late summer evenings like this.
With days shortening, we’re appreciating every moment spent looking over the meadow late in the day.
We have very some (very limited) availability at the end of August. Come and book yourself some late summer solitude 🪵🌲💚
A fine weekend on the porch ✨
The veranda at Joe’s Place is the one of those spots where you can just while away the day.
Weekend fine dining sorted 👌
One day until the weekend.
We’re about ready to fire it up!
A beautiful couple of days in Northumberland!
We left the huts and headed up to the Cheviots for some sunset solitude this evening.
Rugged, expansive and wild. There’s no place like it ❤️
POV - it’s Saturday morning and you’re about to have the best lazy weekend bath of your entire life!
And that’s a wrap on the working week!
This weekend’s going to be a scorcher, so we’re uber excited for our guests who’ll be soaking it all in at the huts over the next couple of days ❤️
“Have you seen these goats?”
Thanks to our fantastic painting friend Johnnie for this lovely new sign that he made for Crash and Eddie - the hillside goats.
Amazing too that they managed to sit still long enough for their portraits to be painted!
Weekend reflections ✨
Some glorious weather (and scenes) over the last couple of days!
We’ve got some (very) limited availability this month in Lottie’s Cabin. You can book yourself a slice of the magic on the Booking section on our site now.
POV - it’s Saturday morning, you’ve just woken up in your hut and you’re about to embark on a lazy weekend breakfast ❤️
Living simply. That’s what we’re set up for here at Hillside.
Our huts and cabins are comfortable, cosy but uncluttered.
A comfy bed, a box for ‘outdoor stuff’ and access to beautiful nature right outside your door.
What more could you ask for?
Perfection. We has it.
Saba’s Hut sleeps four - 2 adults and 2 little people in a bunkbed - and comes fully equipped for an off-grid getaway.
Coming in hot wirh a full-length veranda, wood-fired hot tub, wood-fired stove and an outdoor shower as well!
You can make a booking now on our site.
Weekends like this 🌲
Joe’s Place is our most south-facing cabin. Rustic, secluded and with private views across our wild grass meadow.
You’ll often see deer moving through the long grass at last light and at sunrise, and you may be lucky enough to see the residents of the nestbox that we recently put up in a tree opposite the huts.
Also, you can shower outside at sunrise, which feels pretty darn spiritual if you ask us!
Rolling into the weekend with a Royal Title!
No, not Fiona, but the hillside goats - Crash and Eddie - who started the week out as Golden Guernsey goats but are rounding out Friday as Royal Golden Guernseys due to the King’s recent visit to Guernsey!
So, what does that mean for these two? Nothing much day to day. Their daily duties will still include frolicking, larking and / or gambolling about.
However, they’ll now be doing all of that in a regal capacity, which we think is pretty impressive really.
Long Live Crash and Eddie!
We can think of worse spots to while away a soggy Sunday!
