Froglet Club Gedney Hill
Froglet Club aims to give primary school children a safe space to explore nature
The last session of this term ended with glorious sunshine. The horses were a favourite today and we had an impromptu picnic with the goat who was trying to steal our crisps. The fairies were busy all week as they left sweets and badges. We learnt about bees and made our own seed packets to plant bee friendly flowers
Another sunny session outdoors!
We became Hedgerow Detectives and then we turned the orchard into a giant fairy garden ๐งโโ๏ธ
We worked on teamwork to give the bunny a new home
Looking forward to next week
This week is National Hedgerow Week
Hedgerows are unsung biodiversity heroes, as well as connecting habitats, protecting against pollution and helping fight climate change, they provide a home for 80% of our woodland birds, hedgehogs, most species of bat, the great crested newt, dormice and butterflies. We need to protect them!
Let's see what ideas the Froglets will have to protect our hedgerows.
We made our own dandelion honey- how exciting! Everybody was very engaged. We started to make a home for the bugs and we created spontaneously a fairy garden. We planted beans and sunflowers๐ปwe enjoyed petting some ducks and found a sleeping goat ๐found a 4 leaf clover ๐ All in all, a very busy but successful session today.
Don't forget your wellies and your coat today. We will spend a lot of time outside. Looking forward to seeing you later!
Creepy crawlies ๐ชฑ๐ชธ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ท๐ชณ and honey ๐ฏ are our topics today
Thank you everybody for a successful 1st session. There was great excitement to meet all the animals and explore the space.
We made a drinking station for the bees and butterflies ๐ฆ, started sowing the first seeds for our insect-friendly patch and we tested our den building skills!
Looking forward to next week (we will try to make our own honey! ๐ฏ - never fear, no bees will be involved!
