Congratulations to Maxwell and Sebastian for winning Activate Debate's 1st Competition! After 250 speeches across two days, the competition has come to an end. We'd like to thank all the judges that gave up their time to take part and make the competition such a success. In light of the situation around us, this competition aims to be about more than just debating. We're trying to offer some degree of comfort, support, and hope to those who need it.

As such, this competition is going to be held in support of the Oscar Foundation - a charity working to provide education and sport to the children of the Mumbai slums. Since the coronavirus situation they have diverted their attention to providing care packages to families in need - as you can imagine the slums, being densely populated, is in dire need of assistance.

Because we wanted this competition to be accessible to all, we don't have a signup fee. Instead, for all competitors and judges that are able to, we'd like you to make a donation to the Oscar foundation. Our suggested donation is £5, but give as much or as little as you can.

OSCAR Foundation - Education with a Kick! OSCAR Foundation uses football as a tool to instil the value of education in children and youth from low-income communities in India.

Below is the Schedule for Day 2 (Sunday 24th May) of the 1st Activate Debate online competition. Once applications have closed we will send out the briefing on how we're going to do check-ins, prize ceremonies and using mixidea, so don't worry if you are unsure as to how it will work at the moment. A little information on mixidea, the platform we'll be using for our online competitions.
It has been created specifically for debating with an auditorium, presentation room and specific rooms for different debates. It has prep time, POIs, judging rooms and feedback rooms all incorporated.
It only uses audio at the moment which helps to limit potential buffering and lagging.
