Double collie day yesterday

Too grim to go out this afternoon especially as I had already done 4 walks, so can only mean boundary training, making the most of the bad weather

Haven’t got another raised bed out of the garage yet so even more challenging….. well done pup 💪

CONKERS

Conkers on the ground are a sure sign that autumn has finally arrived but these small, shiny, brown nuts from the Horse Chestnut Tree can be toxic for dogs. In fact, all parts of the tree including the leaves can be toxic as it all contains a chemical called Aesculin.
Once the conker has left its outer spikey shell, it is also the prefect size to cause a choking hazard!
If a dog has eaten conkers, signs can be:
➡️Vomiting
➡️Diarrhoea
➡️Tummy pain
➡️Restlessness
➡️Dehydration
➡️Shock
Signs can show from one to six hours after ingestion but there have been cases where this has been longer.
If you think your dog may have eaten conkers, contact your vet immediately.

Love M & M‘s and not the chocolate/peanut variety in this case

M & M’s my style 🐾🐾

Confidence building with a young pup, was interesting to see how she would be in a different location instead of having fun in a garden environment.

Thank you Lucy Shipway Dog Services for the use of your facilities 🐾

Educators are so important for a young puppy, ideally the only interaction a young pup has with other dogs is with a calm, reliable dog (stooge dog) this pup had their first session outside, working on disengagement from distractions and some loose lead walking

Session was less than 10 minutes, with a young pup I keep sessions short before the pup gets tired and their brain has had enough

Session followed by some calm down time

🦷 Dental hygiene 🦷

Raw meaty bones are natures toothbrush. They offer a wealth of health benefits. The meaty tissue flosses the teeth and the bone scrapes away tartar. Chewing also combats boredom and can relieve mild anxiety or frustration.

Regularly offering a variety of air dried chews are a great way to make sure they are getting a good chew session in and using different teeth to tackle different animal parts.

Dental tools like scrapers and scalers can make a huge difference for those hard to reach corners of the jaw. Using these takes a lot of patience and a good trusting relationship with your dog.

Don’t be fooled by 'dental sticks' sold at your local supermarket, or the plastic-like starch chews molded into various shapes.

Give your dog a raw, meaty bone!
