So how do solar panels actually work? 🤔

Without getting too technical, solar panels work by converting sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells. These cells generate direct current electricity, which is converted into alternating current by an inverter for use in your home. A battery system can then be connected to the inverter to store excess electricity that can be used later when solar production is low or demand is high.

What if it's cloudy?! 🌥️

We often get asked if solar panels work when it's cloudy and the short answer is YES!

On cloudy days, solar panels will typically produce electricity at a reduced efficiency, but with battery storage systems, like the Tesla Powerwall or SolarEdge Home Battery, you don't have to worry as you can store plenty of excess energy from sunny days to use anytime. 🌞🔋

You may have seen us in Wickham Bishops recently... We were helping another home reduce their future household bills by installing 4kW peak solar panels and GivEnergy 9.5kWhr battery storage.

We recently worked on a village hall near Stansted who are now generating their own electricity! ⚡ We installed 17kW three phase solar with panel optimisation and SafeDC shut down. Their 20kWhrs of storage provides improved self-consumption, and we also installed a manual changeover for backup in case of grid failure.

Nearly 20kW of solar panels, and a 15kW battery system will be helping a local village hall reduce its carbon footprint!

This morning, we installed a MyEnergi myenergi Zappi charger and increased the storage for an existing GivEnergy customer. Now, they can enjoy more solar energy storage and efficient EV charging at home. 🌞🚗⚡

A beautiful installation near Stansted, 44 Longi 430W Solar Panels along with 4 Solax Batteries, a Solax Inverter and Solaredge Inverter. Along with the lovely scenery, it's nice to know we're helping the preschool here to generate their own power... saving money on energy bills means there's more to spend on fun activites for the kids! 😁

How many panels will fit my roof?

Using Google Earth, we can measure your property and advise you of the potential maximum system size you could install. You don't need to have a pure south-facing roof to get great results from Solar PV. These systems work well on south, east and west facing too.

Panels can be ground mounted or placed on a garage or outbuilding also.

What is a feed-in tariff? 🤔

When your solar panels generate more electricity than you're using, the overflow will either go into your battery or, if your battery is full or you don't have a battery, will be fed into the main grid.

Your energy retailer will pay you for this additional electricity, and this payment is called the feed-in tariff.
